got searched and they found weed. That they had bought the night before for the very first time.
thet handcuffed him
they were very nice
he’s 17
wtf?!!
he’s a really good kid, they just wanted to try it.
hes autistic and has adhd, not sure that’s relevant here

OP posts:
Blaggoshpereish · 31/10/2024 19:20

Also … many with ADHD, really end up liking weed too much, more than typical people. It’s one of the things experts describe - some ADHD people can feel get focus and energy from weed. Whilst most others are chill/sleepy/relaxed.
So, it can be more likely ADHD person ends up smoking too much ..,, like more than recreationally. … and impacting life negatively.
interacts badly with medications and of course, similar bad shit in body & lungs like tobacco unfiltered

You need to do a little more research on what 'county lines' are and how these gangs operate.

The OP's son is a prime target for gangs. That is why the subject has been brought up here.

County lines refers to the type of operation - recruiting vulnerable, easy targets to run drugs that are advertised in various ways via SM. Kids can get roped in via flattery, debt bondage, blackmail, and through the influence of friends. They are kept working for the gangs by means of threats, punishments, and rewards.

I don't need to, I was giving a very brief overview. I'm very aware of how kids are recruited, but this 17 year old is very unlikely to be coerced into it. He's intelligent, has a good relationship with his mum, his phone is tracked. And he recieves pocket money. Everyone has piled on, thinking the worst of this kid and his mum.

@Secradonugh because it is not just children who are neglected and wrong 'uns. I mentioned it because OPs son has disabilities that make him vulnerable to being taken advantage of by such gangs. During training at school its always flagged to us that it is not always those that are neglected or left to their own devices but those of all income levels with both disengaged and engaged parents if the child had other vulnerabilities.

County Lines is not a single drug gang, it refers to the movement of drugs across (unsurprisingly) county lines. For my area the hub is London and out to surrounding counties. Manchester, Birmingham and other large cities will also have central hubs for various gangs. Knife carrying and crime is common with those within these gangs and operators to 'protect' the cargo. OPs son may not be involved with them but she and he need to be aware of them and how to stay safe.

Autism and ADHD are conditions that make young people particularly susceptible because those with those conditions aren't always a good judge of who their friends are, if behaviour is appropriate or not, generally not particularly streetwise. Don't always recognize danger and can be impulsive. Some people with both conditions are easily influenced by their peers and therefore at huge risk regardless of what their parents income is or how engaged they are, if they are hanging around outside and particularly if like OPs son they are dabbling with drugs and have access to those selling it.

Sorry missed your response. You are absolutely right, it is expressly on the information handed out to both SS and local police Constabularies. Sorry my post seemed to negate it, I was trying to say that in this precise case I see nothing that would make me believe that this child is involved in cl. I'm not dismissive of vulnerable teenagers.

Please discourage him from smoking weed, my son did this when he was 15/16, people say it is harmless but in him it triggered psychotic episodes and destroyed his mental health. He went to University and graduated with a first, but died at 26 an alcoholic.

That's so sad, sorry for your loss.

MoreNotLess · 01/11/2024 01:48

If he is genuinely sorry and telling you he won't do drugs again you could suggest that you want him to take drugs tests until you build up your trust in him. They are very cheap and easy to use. You can get them an Amazon. If he is saying he won't use drugs then he won't mind.

Well done to the police. They've done exactly the right thing. You now need to show him in words how upset you are with him, how it could ruin his life if he got arrested. He's pushing boundaries and the police have nudged him back.

If it were me, I'd have a chat wth your local police station, ask if they would be willing to allow him to come in, and apologise to them for being a bit of a dick. If you set it up before hand, they may well be happy to explain to him the consequences as well. (I did this with one of mine, and it helped them).

@Secradonugh

jow many years ago? And where?

there's no such thing as local
policing here now. There used to be a station in the village (10 min walk) now the nearest one is 100 miles away 🙇🏻‍♀️. We used to have beat bobbies. We don't have any now. It's why the kids are so fucking ferral because they know there are no consequences.

LondonPapa · 31/10/2024 12:30

He has in the short term. No Civil Service career with NSV checks and it may be a barrier in other areas of employment but overall, not really a massive impact.

I'd got 2 cautions for under age drinking at 16 & 17, didn't stop me working for the Civil Service.

Oh perhaps I'm blessed. My town police station is 3 miles away. I know they had closed many rural ones. I assumed that's all they had done everywhere. 100 miles is ridiculous. It will eventually make vigilantes of normal folks.

Yep it is utterly ridiculous! I'm not even really 'rural' as such.

yeah lots of anti social behaviour starting (adults) and there has been a lot of kids hurting/killing wildlife etc people not wanting to deal with them as there's no police back up and the 'kids' carrying knives and not bothered about using them! It is still considered a nice area.

Like those bloody sunflower lanyards that people buy for attention...they scream 'steer clear I'm difficult' to me

“Difficult” WTF? They are used by a massive number of people who have invisible condition, including people with MS who can’t stand or walk for a long time for example. How are they difficult in wanting to indicate they find some things hard without having to explain to people all the bloody time.

The police should absolutely not be issuing a caution for this. It’s against their own guidelines for one thing

I think they key words in what uou have posted are May and Can. In other words it's an option but not always the outcome.

In my experience, people I know with genuine invisible disabilities don't use them because they're largely useless, and the percentage of genuine people using them compared with attention seekers and scammers is small.

How would you know someone using one falsely, Any approx % false users? One or two benefits-cheat types? Or thousands?
what’s the scam other than “no covid mask”?

hadn’t occurred to me that lack of “beat bobbies” and “village” police stations & police “consequences” was cause of ferral kids.
I had always thought kids were feral due to parenting or lack of parenting. Had no idea parents were expecting village police & beat bobbies to keep their kids at home and behaving.

Like the radar keys?
Are you also planning to tell someone using one that because they’re so easy to get, they clearly don’t need the disabled loos maybe?

Round my way a group of yp went to a gig and one of them bought the drugs they wanted and handed them out. Then one of the girls had a bad reaction and died and the boy who had bought the drugs was now in the most awful trouble. www.surreycomet.co.uk/news/15082424.new-malden-teenager-who-supplied-mdma-to-17-year-old-who-died-after-taking-drugs-at-the-o2-arena-avoids-jail/

Is that a reason to think “steer clear I’m difficult” every time you see one? I suspect it’s a very small minority that use them needlessly.
