Sorry it is random! Just been watching a documentary on Lucy Letby and one of the people of there was pronouncing 'insulin' in a way that was making my teeth itch! 😂

How do you pronounce it?

The same way I’d pronounce insulate but “in” instead of “ate”.

(I’m Scottish if that makes a difference)

Inn - suh- lin

I'm N. Irish.

Used to be a nurse and I've only ever heard it pronounced Inn - suh - linn.

I'm not going to settle myself until I hear it pronounced with the SH sound. I just can't 'hear' it in my head. 😀

Redflagsabounded · 30/10/2024 12:23

There's no h. Why are people adding one to make sh?

I can understand different accents making suh or syou, but can't get my head around sh.

User364837 · 30/10/2024 12:24

People putting a “sh” sound in the middle of it are blowing my mind!

not something I say often but inn-Syu-lin surely? (But the Syu is very slight)

Yes this is a better way of putting how I say it!
