I’m scared now I’ve realised this

I was thinking that the US public wouldn’t vote for Trump now that it is so apparent he is such a fascist. It’s terrifying to realise that they already know that and that is why they are going to vote for him.
I’m scared for the world.

It was mostly peaceful. Doors were opened for them. Was it acceptable to shoot dead an unarmed woman? Would it be acceptable to shoot unarmed far left protesters?

Jesus Christ. Maybe you want to go look for some "video footage" to check all that.

@Deja321

Do you actually believe your own posts? Are you just repeating lies from social media? Are you gullible?

www.reuters.com/article/world/fact-check-which-us-presidents-led-the-nation-into-new-wars-idUSKBN2A22QR/

Yes i believe my own posts. No I don't think I am gullible. If I believed everything said about Trump without looking into it myself I would be gullible but I don't. People are blinded by hate. I refuse to join in the hate campaign. Never have never will.

I don’t think he’ll win but the fact it will be very close is v scary

Yet there is a serious risk that he might win next week.

So at what point should the Democrats be put to task for issues the electorate are unhappy with?

It doesn't really matter what the issue is, I've raised one but there are many more.

And this applies to other countries too where this 'least worst' politics applies. The UK is an example in the recent election.

I just think it is strange that rather than asking the Democrats why they are at risk of losing this election to Trump and what they intend to do about that everyone just gives answers like the one of yours that I have quoted.

Clearly many people in the USA believe Trump IS a better option, it can't be that every single person who votes Trump prefers fascism, hates women , whatever whatever .... it's got to be because they don't think the Democrats can deliver what they want.

It does not require single every Trump voter to prefer fascism, it only requires they either be ignorant of his true intentions or to not care, because as you say, they are selfish and think he will deliver what they want.
In my experience, a great many people are ignorant, selfish or both. What a lot of people who don't have much experience with Americans don't understand is that many people in America are racist to the core of their being. There are people in every society who have to step on somebody else to feel taller, and racism is the most important means by which they do so in America. As long as Trump gives their feelings official legitimacy, they will worship him because it makes them feel better about themselves. As long as he sticks it to the ones they have identified as the other, they really don't even care if he sticks it to them, just so long as he treats them worse.
I actually think Trump's appeal is much more about racism than it is about misogyny, which explains why so many women can forgive him for being a rapist. They are more afraid of men of colour they are of a white rapist and fascist. They see him as somebody who can stop these men from harming them and wiping out the white race. They believe this threat is real. This is a sad and horrible truth which even left wing pundits shy away from admitting, because then they'd have to face the prospect that America might be doomed as a democracy. Listening to Trumpers demonizing immigrants can impart this truth to you if you are willing to face it. The similarity to Nazi propaganda is uncanny, or for that matter, to the propaganda spread during the Rawandan genocide and every other genocide.
It's all; they're criminals, rapists, murderers, enemy aliens, enemies of the people, on and on and on. Trump even alluded to the Nazi blood libel, FFs, when he said these words;
(emphasis mine)

"They let — I think the real number is 15, 16 million people into our country. When they do that, we got a lot of work to do. They’re poisoning the blood of our country. That’s what they’ve done. They poison mental institutions and prisons all over the world, not just in South America, not just to three or four countries that we think about, but all over the world. They’re coming into our country from Africa, from Asia, all over the world.”

Note he only mentions continents where people are predominantly not white. Think that's an accident? It isn't. He knows his audience. He knows their fear and hate because he has those same feelings.
This is what he has very successfully tapped into.

No. I've not seen that. I heard him say years ago something like he was a dodgy character and more recently that he was not a fan of his and that they'd had a falling out.
What about bidens behaviour? Is it acceptable? What about war? Do we want a president that will prevent wars or start them? Can we acknowledge good things people do even we've been told to hate them?

Er, we're not voting for Biden; we're voting for Harris.

How do you think Trump is going to prevent wars?

Outrage and disgust are what seems more apparent.

I've just read that Trump has said at his latest rally that he will put Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in charge of women's health!

For me, it isn't hate that drives my posts. It's concern for democracy and women's rights.

There is no Federal agency specific to women’s health.

I'd laugh at the irony of a anti-vax loon in charge of anything related to health, if it wasn't so scary.
I bet that old pervert would love to be in charge of gynecology, that's for sure. He was such close friends with Epstein that he had the free use of his office. He was caught lying about how many times he had been on Epstein's private jet and even tried to blame the trips on his late wife Mary, who had committed suicide after he left her for Cheryl Hynes. The additional problem with that account was that he was not even married to her at the time of the trips, but was married to his first wife, the woman he cheated on with Mary. He's a POS, like all the Kennedy men.

The very populous NY state is up there, 200+, but the other 2 states in the top 5 are Tennessee (small) and Georgia (moderate), both of which have severely restricted abortion.

But they are also states with high populations of African American women who have a disproportionately poorer MMR everywhere. In the UK, Afro-Caribbean women are similarly negatively affected. What changes in state legislature have happened in Tennessee and Georgia that have directly affected MMR and are directly to related to decisions Trump made from 2017-2021?

Pregnant women suffer because of lack of to abortion, of that there is no doubt. Attributing any negative outcome directly to decisions Trump made 2017-2021 is less clear.

You have just said it. Pregnant women suffer from lack of abortion. Tennessee and Georgia have enacted draconian restrictions on abortions since Roe v Wade was overturned in June 2024. That is a compelling correlation.

XChrome · 01/11/2024 22:43

MissConductUS · 01/11/2024 22:28

There is no Federal agency specific to women’s health.

Maybe the Republicans are promising to create one, as a last minute effort to lure in female voters. If so, it will undoubtedly be dedicated to restricting abortion, much like those "women's health clinics" which are a front for forced birther groups.
More likely he's just talking utter shit as per usual.

poetryandwine · 01/11/2024 22:44

Edit: Since Roe v Wade was enacted on 24 June 2022.

You have just said it. Pregnant women suffer from lack of abortion. Tennessee and Georgia have enacted draconian restrictions on abortions since Roe v Wade was overturned in June 2024. That is a compelling correlation.

But everyone, including Democrats, acknowledge that Roe vs Wade was legally weak. It was always at risk of being overturned. Multiple Democrat presidents since Roe vs Wade have done nothing to shore up protections. The idea that Harris will help abortion rights is hugely speculative. What will she do that others haven’t? Equally there’s not much Trump could implement at a federal level to make it worse. It’s a state legal issue.

Any Republican president is going to appoint conservative Supreme Court judges during their tenure, it’s not unique to Trump. And yes, if Harris is elected she could appoint a progressive judge, IF a spot opens up in the next 4 years. In the meantime, that same current SCOTUS will protect women and girls from gender ideology legislation, such as medical transition of minors.

As pp have said, it’s tragic that conservatives are more protective of women’s and children’s rights in some areas putting voters in a bind.

NotBadConsidering · 01/11/2024 10:50

Given trans ideology, and the Obama administration’s change to Title IX have only been fairly recent things, there have already been thousands of women denied success as a result of men.

https://www.shewon.org

How many women need to be disadvantaged before it matters to you?

These are Democrat-initiated policies. Girls have been sexually assaulted in school toilets and Democrat-led county officials tried to pretend it hadn’t happened:

https://archive.md/eVNjr

How many girls need to be sexually assaulted by men or boys before it matters to you?

The Biden-appointed trans identifying male Rachel Levine pressured WPATH to remove age limits on surgery for gender distressed children:

https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/unsealed-court-documents-show-that

How many girls under the age of 18 need to have their breasts removed unnecessarily before it matters to you?

Democrat policies harm women and girls. They have done so already and will continue to do so. Thousands of children in the USA have undergone medical transition and have been sterilised and rendered asexual. The VP candidate Walz is on record as making Minnesota a “refuge state” where children can come and be sterilised without question.

I actually don’t think Trump will do anything about abortion. He’s just empty talk to get the fundamentalists on his side. Very little changes with abortion on a Federal front from administration to administration and it’s left to states.

And a great deal of gender ideology is driven by state legislation also. BUT there has been significant notable federal intervention as I have noted. Executive orders and direct meddling.

It's individual how you weight these issues, as nolongersurprised says, but no one can claim that a vote for Harris/Walz and the Democrats is protective of women’s rights, that’s a tragically laughable claim.

"no one can claim that a vote for Harris/Walz and the Democrats is protective of women’s rights, that’s a tragically laughable claim."

Other than banning transgender women from participating in women's sports, what other legal sanctions against transgender women would you like to see that would actually 'keep women safe'?

"Thousands of children in the USA have undergone medical transition and have been sterilised and rendered asexual. "

You do understand 'asexual' means 'someone who does not experience sexual attraction towards others'. Is that what you meant to say? What makes you think people who've transitioned don't experience sexual desire?

Crazy, because the economy and jobs market is way better under Biden

If the Republicans control the Senate and Congress don't be so sure

izimbra · 01/11/2024 23:16

@NotBadConsidering Sorry - another couple of questions - have you ever personally spoken to a transgender person about their experience of transitioning? Do you have any friends or family who've had the experience of dealing with persistent gender dysphoria? Just wondering about your personal experience of this issue.

Once again, Trump has never said he would infringe on women’s reproductive rights. He said he would let the states decide themselves. Why is this misinformation so prevalent? And now people on here saying they wished the assassination attempt didn’t fail. Horrible

He is against Roe v Wade

He will not back its reintroduction

Biden was going to make reproductive rights a federal matter not state. I hope Kamala continues that thought
