What's on your coffee table?

I find these types of threads really interesting! A coffee table is, to me, a really "grown up" piece of furniture. Felt like my house was more of a home when I got one. My living room is probably too small for one really, at least one the size I have, but I love it and find it immensely useful for storage. I got it for about £20 at a second hand furniture place.

On mine I have 4 plants, a candle, a bowl with bits of wood, pine cones etc that we have picked up on walks, 4 coasters, an (empty) small vase, an (empty) decorative plant pot in the shape of a bum, TV remote, my glasses case, a hairband, decorative cauldron and pen pot. Some of those things should not be there but I probably won't get round to tidying it yet. I feel like it's a bit cluttered, even without the things that shouldn't be there.

Tell me about your coffee table!

Two coasters.

I haven't exactly got a coffee table (room is too small and I value my shins) but I do have a table at the side of the room which hosts a hand-thrown dish of pine cones, my Alexa, my electric diffuser and a ginger jar full of poppy heads.

It's a wee bit cluttered but the diffuser usually lives on the shelf behind and only got pulled down because I needed to refill it.

Coaster
Decorative Plate (housing non-decorative odd bits of Lego, a die, tiny spanner, and a sample of wallpaper).

A dirty mug, a remote control and a letter from Scouts.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 28/09/2024 13:04

A load of junk. Remote controls, books, glasses, pens, scissors, birthday cards, hand cream, half burned candle and I don't know what else. Now I'll have to sort it out!

TizerorFizz · 28/09/2024 13:05

Books, big candle holders by Robert Welch with short fat candies, a tray with magazines and sometimes flowers. I also have a maze made from limestone with coloured glass marbles that fit in the grooves that are the maze . I swap that in sometimes. The marbles can be pushed around. Third coffee table has a driftwood bowl and a chunky hurricane lamp with a candle.

That is a GORGEOUS plant, what is it? I have too many already but feel I may need one of these!

It's a very over-watered (thanks ds2) Painted-leaf begonia! We've had it years and years. It used to be a lot less gangly. We thought we'd lost it, but its a fighter!

FeetupTvon · 28/09/2024 13:31

A large M&S candle and holder, remote control and some receipts.

DilemmaDelilah · 28/09/2024 13:37

At the moment - a plate from lunch. A couple of water bottles. DH's pills. A packet of rice crackers. The TV remote. DHs wallet. A magazine still in its wrapper.

Usually - nothing! It's just glass, no edging, legs or anything. We got it so that we could have the convenience of a table but could still see the beauty of the rug underneath, so we don't keep anything on it.

Ditto, plus a candle 😝

Royalshyness · 28/09/2024 13:54

A book called Minimalista, a tray (wicker) with an Acorn ornament and little vase with gyp dried flowers

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/09/2024 13:57

Thanks to this thread I have just cleared the pile of rubbish off mine.
So nothing.

Chasingsquirrels · 28/09/2024 14:01

I've got one of these.
Atm it has a flat wicker basket/tray in the middle (which has an orchid on it, plus some remotes and a couple of pens), plus coasters.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/09/2024 14:35

I’m a seasonal decor bitch so I have pumpkins in pleasing neutral tones until a bit closer to Halloween and then it’ll be full spooky.
The candlesticks and wooden tray are charity shop finds so I’m not a complete single use, contributing to the decimation of the planet, crappy plastic tat lover!
The wicker baskets are handy to dump all the stuff that accumulates on the table so that it can look neat and tidy.

Thanks! We found it at a local antiques place last weekend. It's a Morrocon serving table apparently. We only paid £50 quid for it!
