What's on your coffee table?

I find these types of threads really interesting! A coffee table is, to me, a really "grown up" piece of furniture. Felt like my house was more of a home when I got one. My living room is probably too small for one really, at least one the size I have, but I love it and find it immensely useful for storage. I got it for about £20 at a second hand furniture place.

On mine I have 4 plants, a candle, a bowl with bits of wood, pine cones etc that we have picked up on walks, 4 coasters, an (empty) small vase, an (empty) decorative plant pot in the shape of a bum, TV remote, my glasses case, a hairband, decorative cauldron and pen pot. Some of those things should not be there but I probably won't get round to tidying it yet. I feel like it's a bit cluttered, even without the things that shouldn't be there.

😕 I never find great stuff like that in antiques places. Although, our kitchen table (rubber wood, very hard wearing) was bought at an auction for £40 in 2008, so that's going well! Going to Google Moroccan serving tables now. 👍

Haven't got one any more as it was constantly covered in junk, brochures, letters, pens, anything and irritated me. We do have side tables.

I have too much stuff, collected over the years when we lived as expats. However, I do love everything that I have.

A book, a peppa pig watch, a toy toaster, 2 pieces of wooden toast, a wooden ice cream, a dinosaur shaped car, a bag closing clip. All the work of a toddler.

2 coasters with coffee mugs, 1 newspaper, box tissues, I dog biscuit, 1 hair tie.

A load of crap that doesn't need to be there, much like the dining table.

There is nothing on mine 🫣 I kind of feel I need to make it more interesting now!

Im not even a cat person, but that is a beautiful cat!

Some beautiful tables here, and I've been shamed inspired to clear mine now!

DHs feet, his phone and a set of coasters scattered around their holder (3yo DD plays with them then abandons them)

A half empty glass of cheap pinot grigio, a full ashtray, one calcium tablet left in a large blister pack, some cannabis, two grinders, some laxatives, two cold cups of tea, one empty box of fags, one half empty one. A pack of baby wipes. A single red boiled sweet in wrapper. Two packs of toothpicks, a hairband, a lighter.

That is a pretty accurate way to assess someone's level of decency/depression isn't it?

still wouldn't be allowed on my table though! Would be welcome on the sofa!

I don't have a coffee table.
I have a velvet pouffe for my feet, and keep my books and remotes on the sofa.

Just a coaster on the top bit, but the underneath has books, paperwork and an old laptop of DH's.

Most of our stuff is in drawers or on high up shelves as we have cats who would destroy it all otherwise.

Newspaper, book I finished reading 5 mins ago, 3 x remote controls, coasters, half-drunk can of Coke Zero.

Don't ask me what is on the shelf underneath as I'd be here all afternoon listing it.

y kind of coffee table. All these 'adult' ones look lovely, but im not 'grown up enough'. Maybe one day... I'm only 55, so there's time yet!! 🤪🤪
