I'll start.

Toothbrush heads for electric toothbrushes - just a bit of plastic!

Reprogramming keys for cars (why does it cost £100s)

Omeprazole, £3.99 for a generic version that lasts 3-6days, the Dr won't prescribe it, so some(most) months when I am really broke I just have to suffer with the pain, trouble swallowing and reflux.

I'm taking that because of having had chemo. Took it during and have to take it for a few months after.

Why won't your dr prescribe it? It's awful without it.

They won't prescribe anything you can buy over the counter in my surgery.

That’s government rules.

I don't want to worry you but can't you get oesophagus cancer from acid reflux?

Probably, but what can I do, they weren't bothered the last time I went, said it's a side effect from the iron and tranexamic acid and to buy omeprazole.

I do appreciate that complaining about the price of champagne truffles is a bit...ironic...?! Like "my diamond shoes are too tight".

Houses. Bricks and mortar, why the fuck do they cost hundreds of thousands!

🤣

I was surprised at the price of dummies! I work at a nursery and used to think parents were being OTT when they’d want us to search high and low for their child’s missing dummy. I thought they only cost £1 😂Then I had a baby and it cost me £6 for too. Although I still think they were being OTT making us look everywhere 😜

DH and I recently visited Windsor Castle on the way back from Heathrow. Entrance tickets cost £75 for the two of us and no over 60 concessions. Bloody grabby.

Bottled water in airports. You can't bring your own due to liquid restrictions. Not you can divert journey, like you do on a motorway and find a retail park or village within a couple of miles from junctions.

I have paid £3/€3 for a single bottle of 500ml water. Cheapest was Larnaca €1 for a 750ml bottle in vending machine past security.

I don't take an empty water bottle with me for these reasons - 1. Friend got her empty water bottle confiscated at security. It was just a £1 from Poundland. 2. Many airports, especially foreign ones, don't have drinking water taps and 3. My friend who was able to take her bottle through security for another flight, was told on a website that go to any café or bar and they will fill the bottle for you. She tried 4 and all refused.

Would Gaviscon help, is it any cheaper? Actually they can prescribe it if you cannot genuinely afford it.

apparently, a lot of them are made exactly the same as the alcoholic versions, but then undergo a process to remove the alcohol. that's why it's not cheaper.
but purely from a health point of view, they should probably make it possible to sell it cheaper, and more people would choose it.

I think the point was that alcohol free won't bear the hefty alcohol duty, not that it's any easier/cheaper to manufacture.

It's not that much cheaper, plus it doesn't do anything for me.

We were in Cambridge for the weekend and as it was a sunny day thought we might checkout the punting (small boat with about 10 seats, they take you around the colleges, show history of the place etc, about 45 min). You can buy the whole boat, a section, or 2 seats. When I asked the price I thought 2 seats would be like 20 each max and even that seemed high. Nope, 80 quid for 2 seats. Just seemed extortionate to me. That's about 400 per boat each time they go...

I didn't realise that you aren't suppose to take iron supplements at the same time as indigestion remedies.

I was taking my ferrous sulphate and omeprazole at the same time....

£20 currently reduced to £16. I used to buy these a lot as small gifts or just a wee treat for myself. Christmas ONLY now!

To be fair, I don't grumble about the price of stamps but I dont buy them very often. If someone said they'd give me £1.50 (or whatever it costs) to take a letter to the opposite end of the country I'd tell them to get lost !

What about if you were offered £15000 to take 10000 letters to the other end of the country? I'd jump at that deal!
