Why are you awake?

I'll go first. THE RAIN

Our bedroom is an attic conversation and my said of the bed is partly underneath a skylight. It's like trying to sleep inside a drum!

Just been for a wee

Elclr · 23/09/2024 04:58

Night shift worker, on a break looking at the rain and fearing the journey home (public transport and walking) is going to be very soggy.

To those awake, who aren't contracted to be up like me....I hope the day is as kind to you as it can be 💖

iwouldnthavebelievedit · 23/09/2024 05:07

awake since 2.30. need to be up at 6. have to do battle to get youngest into school due to them messing up his medical management plan and him being so anxious about going in. then a full day of work including on call for emergencies.
oh and i have a cat asleep on me in a really awkward position but as snuggles are few and far between i daren't move him!

notwittywithusernames · 23/09/2024 05:07

Family drama. Rain. A snuffly full of cold child and dreading work.

I’m going into hospital at 7 am for a mastectomy surgery for breast. Cancer - haven’t slept a wink as terrified of the op

Thinking of you. Hope you’ll be ok & heal well.

Food obsession, raiding fridge, nightly thing now 😬

Omg! Now that one. I go toilet and I say right take a right straight down hall to your room, but no I take a left downstairs to the kitchen!
It's nightly, and if I do take a right I toss and turn then get back up anyway 🤷🏽

theyoungishman · 23/09/2024 05:11

Jet lag. Flew from Australia to Finland 3 days ago and can't adjust!

I've had some stressful changes at work and no time to prep for them tomorrow before lessons start. Woke up at 3:30 brain was whirring until 5 and the baby woke me up at 5:15 so now going to be stressed and tired.

spicysugar · 23/09/2024 05:28

Just been sabotaged again by this woman at work who kicks off every time something goes well for me - imagination me doing a good presentation, winning a new contract etc so it's ruined and I don't get recognition because everyone gathers round her to make her feel better (she cries, feigns illness etc). I know it sounds petty of me but when it happens every time you know it's deliberate. But then I'm told I have to miss a training session because I trigger her (woke industry) so I miss out on a bit of my training that I've paid for. FFS.

Makes me so angry that I wake up seething.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 23/09/2024 05:35

I feel sick

BoreOffAboutYerChickensEmma · 23/09/2024 05:35

Rain, anxiety, intrusive thoughts.

I’m seething on your behalf. Can you make up a pronoun for your woke colleagues to fuss over?

Haha. Thanks so much. Your support has helped a lot!

Thing is I'd have to sit in a corner and cry a lot and it's not really my style.

allaboutevening · 23/09/2024 05:53

DS9 came into my bed at 4am with a sore throat. I can never get back off and hate lying there with monkey brain so I’m on the sofa eating a banana and Nutella sandwich!

FancyAnxiety · 23/09/2024 05:57

Awake as haven’t slept all night. Finishing some uni work. Now hoping to get some sleep. Fingers crossed!

stayathomer · 23/09/2024 06:01

Myself and dh are ‘having problems’ (possibly/ probably breaking up) so I don’t get back to sleep anymore- I just lie here wondering how he can sleep or if he’s awake I pretend to be asleep so we won’t have another talk

Coastguard helicopter just flew over.

I’ve never seen a Coast Guard helicopter. Are they big? Oh I suppose they have big & small sizes. Are they loud? It woke you up?

I live in California not far from our Air National Guard base. Naturally I thought it was them when the helicopter kept flying over.
It was the police helicopter looking for some criminal! 😂

Agapornis · 23/09/2024 06:08

DCat purred in my ear and rubbed my face until I refilled his dry food bowl. My error, it must never be left empty overnight.

(He's a bit fat, but also very happy, and I love his insistent purrs to make me do what he wants.)

TangerinePlate · 23/09/2024 06:14

Combo of peri menopause, nightshift worker and fecking cat scratching all doors 🙄

Riverhillhouse · 23/09/2024 06:17

I can relate to a lot of these. These days I seem to wake up every couple of hours & then I’m often awake for a while. A combination of cancer pain, peri symptoms & general worries. I’m lucky that I find the rain soothing though & no leaks to worry about. Since about 2am I’ve been thinking about plain croissants for some reason! The really buttery crispy ones you get in France- been thinking of getting some in for breakfast! If anyone has any recommendations let me know.

Wendysfriend · 23/09/2024 06:18

Awake since 2am, DD going through phase of taking her nappy off, she's nearly 17 and disabled, so have to keep changing her because she's soaked through, doesn't matter what I put on her she gets it off, she's supposed to be up for School in an hour. Then to top that off the last half hour next door sitting in his car with the engine running, he does this every morning between 5 -6am for half hour, he normally doesn't sit in it but this morning he is and he's drinking out of the biggest cup with a straw listening to the radio, why does everything seem louder early morning. Why can't people have their breakfast in their houses.

bettbburg · 23/09/2024 06:19

Awake because there's now no point in going to sleep until the buns have been collected.

Seymour5 · 23/09/2024 06:23

Went to the loo an hour ago, can’t get back to sleep. Happens often now, so I’ll be nodding off later! Now that I don’t have to get up early for children or work, I can never sleep late.

Iamnotavicar · 23/09/2024 06:25

I suffer from fecal incontinence and it usually wakes me around 5.30. I then try to hold on - awake - for as long as I can. But it's touch and go every morning whether I'll reach the 10 steps to the loo intact or needing a hose down. I've returned to bed but I'm awake and really should get up
