Why are you awake?

I'll go first. THE RAIN

Our bedroom is an attic conversation and my said of the bed is partly underneath a skylight. It's like trying to sleep inside a drum!

Feeling ill and now in that stupid cycle of telling myself I need to sleep or I’ll be tired for work which is making it even worse grrrrr !

wavingfuriously · 23/09/2024 02:41

Food obsession, raiding fridge, nightly thing now 😬

cannynotsay · 23/09/2024 02:41

Body in pain...

Spartak · 23/09/2024 02:43

Dodgy stomach. I cannot have much more in me to shit out though so hopefully it will be over soon!

NewtonsCradle · 23/09/2024 02:44

signed off work with ME and associated cardiac issues.... its nice to not have to worry about getting up in morning, but the general sleep disruption thing isnt really helped by being given a "bonus" lie in

Oh nooo that’s the worst feeling. Hope you feel better

theansweris42 · 23/09/2024 02:47

at work but no work to do right now
didn't get any sleep beforehand though :(

DryBiscuit · 23/09/2024 02:48

I will tell you why i was awake last night

Because i couldnt remember my neighbours name and it was driving me nuts (like it bloody matters, but the more i told myself to go to sleep the more i frustrated myself)

I would then remember it, fall asleep, then wake up and i forgot it again so i was awake again trying to remember it

Absolutely INSANE

imisscashmere · 23/09/2024 02:49

It’s comforting to know I’m not alone in being kept up by the rain. The noise keeps me up (skylights) and gives me anxiety to boot.

Thanks! I saw Gastroenterology this week and they think I've got post infective IBS as this happens every so often. I've got a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks just to check.

I'm at my parents are forgot to bring any imodium and they haven't got any in.

I know what you mean about the noise on skylights but I find it cozy and comforting being snuggled up.under the covers whilst it lashes it down outside strangely. At the moment I would just settle for making it back to bed ! Hope you get some rest soon

Thanks, that’s kind. I’m very jealous of those who find it comforting! We’ve had issues with roof/ gutter leaks and damp in this house, and I think that contributes to the anxiety. After heavy rain I’m always looking for water damage… and we can’t really afford any repairs anyway. I’m alternating laying in my bed, DD’s bed, wandering the house and anxiously peeing

Dontbeme · 23/09/2024 02:59

Mixture of complex PTSD and grief, just lying here thinking about my siblings, three have died in the last four years.

Congratulations to all the new parents up and about, hand hold to those that need it due to life circumstances, and I have spare loo roll for anyone up with dodgy guts.

LookAtThatCritter · 23/09/2024 03:01

Live in the US at the moment so it's still the PM. No doubt our toddler will keep us up most of the night again though 😂been struggling to sleep recently as we're deciding whether to move back to the UK and my mind is constantly back and forth!!

LostittoBostik · 23/09/2024 03:01

@imisscashmere I've been up checking for leaks three times too!
I love the sound but can't shift the worry that they're going to collapse under the pressure. We bought the house in 2022 and last autumn all the skylights suddenly started leaking on the same night. We had repairs at the time but now I can't relax about it anymore! So annoying. We also can't afford for anything else to go wrong.

Because I procrastinate at absolutely EVERYTHING, even going to sleep.

Heelworkhero · 23/09/2024 03:05

Just got in.
Delayed flight, Uber late/slow due to accidents then very wet, rainy 130 mile motorway drive home…..
Up at 8……..

pollyglot · 23/09/2024 03:06

It's the middle of the day, sunny and warm, and DH has just cooked Mongolian Beef for lunch. Retirement is wonderful. Sure beats being a sleepless teacher, stressed out from the impossible demands and resultant AFib. No job is worth dying for.

Noodlehen · 23/09/2024 03:06

Ive been subconsciously following my husbands night shift pattern this week 😞 annoyingly i normally fall asleep half hour before he walks through the door so don’t see him anyway 😂

Haha! I don't think so, but if I am - hi! 😂If not, I'll just take any helpful advice from you and the rest of mumsnet. Someone else make this decision please 😜
