Pop to the corner shop in joggers and scruffy t shirt and trainer. Hair in a scruffy un-brushed bun and not brushed teeth or washed face!

We only had milk for one coffee and everyone else still asleep!

Depends on the slippers! But I probably wouldn't because I'm a shoes off in the house person and I try not to wear my slippers into the garden.

Zonder · 21/09/2024 10:31

I would have been showered and fully dressed because I don't even go downstairs without doing all that. So I would only have discovered the milk shortage once I was ready for the day.

I'm too lazy to go back upstairs once I go down!

Perimenopausalpenny · 21/09/2024 10:32

Hate to do it but just did this this morning! Put a coat on over my PJ's and popped out in the car to a place where there wasn't people and while the world was asleep. Wouldn't make it a regular thing tho

listsandbudgets · 21/09/2024 10:33

I would - you won't meet that many people and staff in corner shops are probably used to seeing half awake people buying milk, coffee etc. As long as you're decently covered you'll be alright

Ghilliegums · 21/09/2024 09:04

I brush my teeth and brush my very wild hair AND wash my face and put moisturiser on before I do anything else in the morning!

But then doesn't everything you eat/drink taste disgusting? Unless you're just having mints for breakfast.

ALHCTPS · 21/09/2024 10:34

God, yes. That’s what sunglasses are for. But then we get milk delivered and I’ll go get it from the front step in a tshirt and knickers (big ones).

Barney16 · 21/09/2024 10:37

Yes. Frequently do. Not slippers though, but muddy trainers. Have been in my PJ's but under one of those huge puffy coats so PJ's not visible.

IcedPurple · 21/09/2024 10:38

Run a bit of water over my face, give my hair a quick brush and swill a bit of toothpaste around my mouth.

Then I'm ready to face the world!

Joggers are fine but not slippers as they'll get manky. I have a few pairs of worn out shoes that I keep by the door for just such emergencies.

Sepoctnov · 21/09/2024 10:41

Yes but unfortunately I don't have that luxury as I'm a single parent. Instead I have a stash of UHT milk in the cupboard for such occurrences.

Vanilla ice cream works in a pinch if you are out of milk and just need a bit for coffee/tea.

People were told on here to melt cheese in their tea and coffee during lockdown, as they were selfish going out to get more, as they would infect people and kill them.

I remember that, I'd put a laughing emoji if it hadn't been so worryingly batshit

thehungryteacher · 21/09/2024 07:50

Right. This is promising!

Im thinking slipper is a step too far?

Could have brushed your hair and teeth and put on some clothes instead of asking here. Would have taken you just as long.

But I wouldn’t go out like that, don’t care obe bit if other people do though. Well, brush teeth possibly.

LBFseBrom · 21/09/2024 10:47

Octavia64 · 21/09/2024 07:39

I'd brush my teeth but otherwise yes

Same here.

I'm afraid no matter how much you think your teeth are perfect, if you wake up with sticky teeth, it IS a sign of gum disease, plaque, and tooth decay.

You can ask any dentist, or look it up online. Healthy teeth should NOT be 'sticky' in the morning.

Edited

Probably plaque? I don't know, I was at the dentist and hygienist last week and all was perfect so shrug

I sometimes sleep with my mouth open so it's probably dry and mank in there anyway

awaits hectoring post about hitherto unknown health issues

ifonly4 · 21/09/2024 10:48

Usually have some UHT as a back up, but if not, I wouldn't have gone. I can happily have herbal tea, fruit and yogurt - other options are fruit juice, toast, eggs, fruit and yogurt. DH would have probably gone as he'd want milk in tea and nothing but cereal.

Happyher · 21/09/2024 10:50

I’d have watered the milk down so there was enough for 2 and fetched the milk later

HelloIsAnyoneThere · 21/09/2024 10:50

Tesco whoosh or if you can't wait that long throw on yesterdays clothes, wash face and hands and teeth and then jump in car to local fuel station and pick up milk while trying to stay away from everyone in case I don't smell too fresh.

If it happens alot keep long life milk in cupboard for milk 'emergencies' like this

Floralnomad · 21/09/2024 10:50

I’d brush my teeth before I went anywhere but I don’t wear makeup and my hair is simple to do so it only takes me about 5 minutes to get ready anyway . We never run out of milk , the fridge is topped up constantly .

SiobhanSharpe · 21/09/2024 10:50

This is why I generally have a carton of long life milk in the house. I know it tastes weird but it's better than nothing in tea.
(I prefer evaporated milk in coffee. Always have a tin somewhere.)

sunsetsandboardwalks · 21/09/2024 10:51

No, I wouldn't go out like that. I'd brush my hair, wash my face and put on something clean/presentable.

Ghilliegums · 21/09/2024 10:51

alittleprivacy · 21/09/2024 10:33

Not to me, no. By the time I've gone downstairs, fed the dogs and put the kettle on its not that minty anyway.

Literally never thought I'd ever have to justify cleaning my teeth first thing 😁 my dentist is delighted with my teeth and oral hygiene, so it works for me.

OnYourTogs · 21/09/2024 10:53

Have done so many a time, who cares?

StrawBeretMoose · 21/09/2024 10:53

I wouldn't go to the shop at 7am for milk. I'd have black coffee or herbal tea.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 21/09/2024 10:53

Ahh the benefits of having milk delivered.

And grape flavoured toothpaste but that's another story

DodoTired · 21/09/2024 10:54

I’d use a Deliveroo 😁
