Pop to the corner shop in joggers and scruffy t shirt and trainer. Hair in a scruffy un-brushed bun and not brushed teeth or washed face!

We only had milk for one coffee and everyone else still asleep!

I’d brush my teeth and hair, put on a suitable outfit and go to the shop.

What is AW24 suitable corner shop outfit? Asking in case I commit a fashion faux pax if it happens to me

We have emergency milk in the freezer... ice cube bags. Game changer.

Now that's SAS level planning and preparation 😂. Very impressive! I'm sure I'm not the only person on the thread who has just jotted down "jobs for today: 1. milk in freezer"...

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 21/09/2024 08:44

Also, for those of you who would brush your teeth before going out for milk, doesn't your tea/coffee then tast awful? 🤢

CherryValley5 · 21/09/2024 08:03

Can’t you live without a tea or coffee though, even for a few hours until it’s more convenient to go out to the shop? I’d definitely make do with juice etc or use cream in my coffee instead - apart from house burning down there’s not much that could convince me to go out at 7am🤣

I need my milky morning coffee 🤣 I don't usually run out of milk the night before, but if I did I would definitely run to the corner shop rather than drink a black coffee. I would stick a cardigan on with joggers and run a baby wipe under my eyes 🤣

Haha... former life on an island (with no shop) means EVERYTHING that could go in the freezer, went in the freezer.

Emergency bread and milk always on hand.

mickandrorty · 21/09/2024 08:50

We ran out of milk this morning so i just had my coffee black but i did just chuck a hoodie on over my pj's and the kids coats on over theirs to walk the dog, I just didn't have it in me to get everyone ready!

PussGirl · 21/09/2024 08:50

I’d use mouthwash as I prefer to brush my teeth after breakfast. Never brush my hair anyway.

Fortunately my closest source of milk is less than 100 metres away so no problem popping out.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 21/09/2024 08:50

Brush your teeth

ChannelLightVessel · 21/09/2024 08:50

I am confused as to why you’d have cream in your fridge, but not milk. But then I hate cream.

DannSindWirHelden · 21/09/2024 08:52

I'm genuinely confused by the situation. Are you sleeping in your jogging bottoms? Or do you get up and change into indoor clothes before then changing into outdoor clothes later?

I wouldn't go out in my night dress/pjs unless the house was on fire or I was putting cat litter in the bin (they're all either flimsy/clingy or ridiculous), so if I needed to run to the corner shop before I'd had my morning shower and dressed then I'd jump into respectable jeans and a respectable jumper that didn't require a bra. I wouldn't clean my teeth, but if I had really bad smudged mascara from the previous day I'd take it off.

I don't possess any clothes that I wouldn't be happy to leave the house in apart from night clothes.

I'm glad you've got your milk though. That's the most important thing. The people who are saying "can't you just wait a couple of hours for your morning coffee?"!!

Harrumphhhh · 21/09/2024 08:11

Top tip: also wear a really THICK top, then you don’t have to bother putting a bra on either.

Indeed
Or if it's colder, put a fleece over pj top.

Probablyshould · 21/09/2024 08:56

I have occasionally gone out at 7am for milk. I would brush my hair and put mascara on and wear normal clothes and shoes! The local shop at the end of my road is a big Tesco and I always see someone I know in there.

DreamW3aver · 21/09/2024 08:57

Why is everyone saying f they'd brush their teeth? Is it some kind of virtue signalling, why cant you leave the house for two minutes without brushing your teeth? What am I missing?

Probablyshould · 21/09/2024 08:58

i wouldn’t bother with the teeth though as it would put me off my breakfast and cup of tea.

I wear a hoodie to avoid having to put a bra on!

I brush my teeth and brush my very wild hair AND wash my face and put moisturiser on before I do anything else in the morning!

Nordione1 · 21/09/2024 09:04

I think you just need to ask the question "what would Joan Collins do" and plan accordingly.

Conniebygaslight · 21/09/2024 09:06

Of course…..who cares? People are far too bothered about their own stuff than worried about what you look like and if they’re not it’s still about them not you.

LynetteScavo · 21/09/2024 09:06

dudsville · 21/09/2024 08:36

I can't imagine the circumstances in which I would run out of milk, or anything else!

I'll send my adult DS to spend the night with you. He seems to be able to down several litres of milk in the middle of the night, and then go for a week consuming none so we have a glut. Hope that helps with your imagination.

Joan has staff to pop out for her. I now see where I'm going wrong. I'm off to recruit.

Moonshine5 · 21/09/2024 09:08

Why scruffy? Put on normal clothes. Unless it's code for your PJ's

shellyleppard · 21/09/2024 09:08

I've gone to the corner shop bra-less before now.....😁🤣

DreamW3aver · 21/09/2024 09:11

Ghilliegums · 21/09/2024 09:04

OK but that's not relevant here as we're discussing a situation were hypotheticallly you aren't ready in any way to leave the house.

I'm just wondering why I was unaware that teeth brushing is so vital for a trip to the corner shop that it's the one thing people do

Galliano · 21/09/2024 09:15

This is the only scenario in which I ever enter the shop in our village. They supposedly open at 7 but can be a bit tardy so I often get to hover outside looking completely unkempt.

StepAwayFromGoogling · 21/09/2024 09:16

MeinKraft · 21/09/2024 07:41

I’d go out like that any time of day 😬

I believe you may be my spirit animal
