Pop to the corner shop in joggers and scruffy t shirt and trainer. Hair in a scruffy un-brushed bun and not brushed teeth or washed face!

We only had milk for one coffee and everyone else still asleep!

We have emergency milk in the freezer... ice cube bags. Game changer.

Wow! Do you put the frozen milk cubes in the coffee. Mindblown

Genius.

Nope! I don’t understand the British obsession with milk, it’s not vital to every meal in our house.

There's no collective national obsession. Some people like it in their tea or coffee, or on cereal.
Personal choice.
Live and let live.

AlisonDonut · 21/09/2024 08:21

We don't have corner shops here, and the supermarkets don't open til 8:30, but there might be a 'honesty epicerie' in one of the surrounding villages that might do milk.

But when I lived in a town or city, then yes of course.

MrsBobtonTrent · 21/09/2024 08:22

Why trainer? Would you hop?

littleredcaravan · 21/09/2024 08:22

Cover up my pyjamas with a big coat and put some trainers on.
Wouldn't bother doing anything else for nipping to a shop a couple of minutes away to grab one item.

thehungryteacher · 21/09/2024 08:22

I did it!

Milk procured

Now enjoying my second cup of coffee.

I'd pop to the shop looking a mess and bump into someone I hadn't seen since high school. I'd then come home and tell DH I didn't drink milk and he needs to let me know when it's running out and he'd wonder why I was so grumpy.

If you don’t drink milk why would you be making an emergency run to the shop for it at 7am?

if dh wants it he can get it.

as for o/p, if everyone else can getting up I will take the last of the milk for my coffee, then go to the shop when I’m more organised 😂

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 21/09/2024 08:23

I’ve no issue with going out unwashed and looking like I’ve just got out of bed if necessary.
However in this situation I’d order a Tesco Woosh delivery. Arrives within 45 minutes to your door.
Im a lone parent and eldest DD at university so couldn’t leave the other DC on their own if they were asleep.

Result. Did you bump into an old school friend, or someone you once had a crush on?

thehungryteacher · 21/09/2024 08:24

I put on trainers but that is it!

Why have I never thought of this? 😮

lol this thread made my morning! 😊

mondaytosunday · 21/09/2024 08:25

I'd throw a hoodie on and brush my hair at least. But reality is I'd probably just go without milk (I have cream in my coffee so would have that).

@Howmanyusernames123 - I would go to the shop for milk for DH if I was up first, just like DH would go to the shop to get me chocolate in the evening and I was tired. We do nice things for each other. You should try it.

GameOfJones · 21/09/2024 08:31

I definitely would. I'd wear trainers and a coat or jacket if I had no bra on but other than that I would and have done. I can scrape my hair up into a bun that doesn't look too dreadful without brushing.

Sometimes, sometimes defrost in the microwave.

If it is for me, a couple of milk/ice cubes in my tea. If its for us all, just put a few in the milk carton and leave it til they drag out of bed in a couple of hours.

Supernaturaldemons · 21/09/2024 08:34

MeinKraft · 21/09/2024 07:41

I’d go out like that any time of day 😬

Yep, same here 🤷‍♀️.

I was painting yesterday and dropped my friend to work and went to the pharmacy dressed in my DW’s old shorts (4 sizes too big), a paint covered baggy vest and greasy hair.

I also go out for similar reasons in my pyjamas.

NowImNotDoingIt · 21/09/2024 08:36

I'd do teeth because I do them as soon as I wake up anyway. Possibly smooth the top of my hair with a brush.

dudsville · 21/09/2024 08:36

I can't imagine the circumstances in which I would run out of milk, or anything else!

Maybe not in meals, but if your first tea or coffee of the day is with milk then you'd fix it.

As to going to the corner shop scruffy, etc - I'm unlikely to be papped so it's not a problem!!

I am by no means obsessed with milk (actually don't know any Brits who are) but I like to drink a cup of coffee when I get up and I like to have it with milk, if I dont have milk I would pop out and get some, is that how we're defining obsession nowadays?
