Does anyone believe these men? (Gisèle Pélicot)

Excepts here:

’“If I had known she wasn’t aware [of what would happen], I wouldn’t have gone there,” he told the court. “I should have checked that she was OK with it. I didn’t talk to her, so I could not get her consent. I feel guilty for what I did.
“I never told myself: ‘I will rape that woman’,” he said. However, he admitted, “I’m guilty of rape.” He added that he should have left when he saw she was unconscious, and that it was cowardly of him not to have said anything.’

’Some men have admitted Pélicot told them he was drugging his then wife, while others claimed they believed they were participating in a couple’s organised game.’

Dominique Pélicot has admitted the charges, telling the court he was “a rapist”. He has said the men he recruited online all knew they were coming to rape his unconscious, drugged wife.’

Somehow I have a feeling it’s the latter 🤨

I don’t believe they didn’t know. When I was a child I was sex trafficked by my ‘boyfriend’. He used to ‘trade me’ for money, drugs, food, taxis, alcohol, work being done on his house etc and all of the men knew I was a child, all could see my bruises and injury’s, all of them saw me bleeding and crying, all of them saw my ‘boyfriend’ yelling at me or dragging me or holding me down or forcing me to take drugs or drink and they all still said ‘yes’ to raping me. None, in years, ever said no or even anonymously reported it to the police or did anything to help me.

I’m so sorry that this happened to you 😞😞😞 Words fail me.

Possibly, that may have been part of the husband’s perversion too?
Don't care though. What kind of sicko has sex with an unresponsive body, whether they are consenting or otherwise? There’s a name for that.
The words of a woman living in the town, commenting on BBC news last night, really struck me. Along the lines of: There are 30 or more of them still walking among us and we don’t know who they are. Imagine that, if you lived there.

Why has he not disclosed their identities. It sounds like he has admitted to it all so if he had any shred of decency he would pass on that info!

Flibflobflibflob · 19/09/2024 20:55

No don’t believe them at all.

I'm so sorry you went through that. Please report it if you can it's not too late

KentnotClarke · 19/09/2024 20:57

The problem is we think we are "civilised". We are not, we are animals at the end of the day, here to procreate and unfortunately many men are predators to women.

KentnotClarke · 19/09/2024 20:58

@Lozzalove because they could.

Much love to you. We are all in a jungle really and these men are someone's son, brother, uncle etc

TomatoSandwiches · 19/09/2024 20:58

No, I don't believe any of them.

💐 I’m so so sorry x they were scum

UtterlyOtterly · 19/09/2024 21:00

Lozzalove, I am so so sorry. I hope your life is far better now.

Of course those men knew, wasn't there a website called Without Her Consent or something like that? Not one had the decency to report it.

The fact that 30 or so are still at large is chilling. They could be any man in that community, we all know that it is impossible to be sure a man is decent.

So many of those women must be wondering…what about my husband? What about my partner? Maybe even my father? It’s horrific.

I don't believe a single word that the rapists say.

What a brave woman Gisele is. Reading some of her testimony in the news today about how the court case has made her feel as if she is on the stand and they are the victims is heartbreaking.

SisterAgatha · 19/09/2024 21:03

Sorry but this notion that they had HER consent because HE gave it, while she was unconscious, is bullshit.

Its rape. No excuses. These men had not said a single word to this woman while she was awake. You cannot “clear it” with the man and use that as an excuse.

SisterAgatha · 19/09/2024 21:05

The only people who believe this, are rape apologists.

My heart goes out to Gisele (and to you @Lozzalove ) x

Paisleydad · 19/09/2024 21:06

No. I don't believe them. Not a single one.

newtlover · 19/09/2024 21:07

I don't believe them

I hope you can find peace @Lozzalove in whatever way works for you ❤

SeatonCarew · 19/09/2024 21:08

@Lozzalove 💕🌷😘

Lozzalove · 19/09/2024 21:10

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate your kind posts. I’m glad Gisele is getting such support from so many people, both in real life and online. And I’m glad so many of us don’t believe her rapists. Hopefully that will give her some small comfort.

Lorelaigilmore88 · 19/09/2024 21:14

No I don't believe any of them
She was unconscious, she didn't move. They would have had to do everything, move her body, position her, whatever... there is no way they thought she was consenting. Disgusting perverts all of them.

Soditsally · 19/09/2024 21:18

@Lozzalove sending you strength love and a very unmumsnetty hug 🤗💐❤️

Quite.

CoastalCalm · 19/09/2024 21:23

They viewed her as his property so his consent was all that is needed - disgusting

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 19/09/2024 21:24

No I don't believe them at all. It's sickening.

Didn't they find each other in a forum called something like "without her knowledge" ? I've read that in one of the newspapers.

I'm sorry for your experience Lozzalove too. It's beyond comprehension that people could stoop so low.

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 19/09/2024 21:27

A quote from the Guardian website from one of the participants "Since I never obtained Mrs Pélicot’s consent, I have no choice but to accept the facts,” he told the court.".

That seems a pretty poor acceptance of guilt. He isn't really acknowledging the true extent of his crimes. It makes me so angry and sickened.
