Does anyone believe these men? (Gisèle Pélicot)

Excepts here:

’“If I had known she wasn’t aware [of what would happen], I wouldn’t have gone there,” he told the court. “I should have checked that she was OK with it. I didn’t talk to her, so I could not get her consent. I feel guilty for what I did.
“I never told myself: ‘I will rape that woman’,” he said. However, he admitted, “I’m guilty of rape.” He added that he should have left when he saw she was unconscious, and that it was cowardly of him not to have said anything.’

’Some men have admitted Pélicot told them he was drugging his then wife, while others claimed they believed they were participating in a couple’s organised game.’

Dominique Pélicot has admitted the charges, telling the court he was “a rapist”. He has said the men he recruited online all knew they were coming to rape his unconscious, drugged wife.’

Somehow I have a feeling it’s the latter 🤨

one of the (female) defence lawyers posted a tiktok of her singing and dancing along to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and i am feeling violent thoughts.

On one of the news reports on the case I saw last week, I think it was channel 4, a man from the village was asked his opinion on the case.
He said 'too much has been made of this' " no one has died' ' no children were involved'. I think that says a lot about how 90 local men thought they would never get caught. It could easily be believed all those men thought it was not a big deal.
It was reported on the same piece that it's thought approx 30 men are thought still to not be caught caught.

Christ. Women don’t matter at all do they?

I think that was the local mayor! And there are still local men unidentified. Hmm... Perhaps worth a quick look at his laptop?

warmduvetnights · 21/09/2024 16:21

Of course they knew ffs. It was obvious she was unconscious.

They raped an unconscious woman. Feeling bad about it doesn’t cut it. Hope they get hefty sentences.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 21/09/2024 16:24

No, I don't believe any of them. Every one of them should go to prison for a good long time.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 21/09/2024 16:36

anyone want to place a bet on whether the man in the village who was quoted as saying it wasn't a big deal is one of the still unidentified rapists?

Liv999 · 21/09/2024 16:39

Nope don't believe any of them, they are pure scum anyone with half a brain would know she was unconscious, do they actually think people are going to believe them

MaidOfAle · 21/09/2024 17:02

I am in awe of Gisele. She is so brave.

And no, I do not believe these men. Every one of them knowingly committed rape.

I am sorry he did that to you Lozza.

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 17:05

@Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast

You mean the charmer that said well no kids were hurt and no one died.......

Imagine living there!!!!

What the actual fuck

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 17:08

@Brefugee

What is wrong with these bloody people?

Brefugee · 21/09/2024 17:16

when i retweeted it, i was compelled to describe her using the c word. Which i have used about 4 times in my life.

TheTwirlyPoos · 21/09/2024 17:25

I don't believe a word of it and it's testiment to the absolute entitlement of these men that they can stand up and claim they are victims. 'i thought she wanted it because there was a photo of her nude in the garden'. Horrendous.

And if the husband genuinely had a shred of decency or remorse he would be handing over the names of the other arseholes who he allowed to rape his wife. But he won't.

poila · 21/09/2024 17:26

I just looked it up on her instagram, I am shocked, you’re a lawyer, defending the most horrendous mass rape, drugging case. And you think, I shall be a life coach and influencer on instagram and if you disagree with me blatantly mocking the victim you’re all man haters.

What the fuck doesn’t even cover it

i see she has issued a non-apology on instagram and is getting absolutely pasted in the comments.

Radiatorvalves · 21/09/2024 17:30

There are some really shocking TikToks by that defence lawyer. Not sure of the rules in France but surely someone will report her to the bar council equivalent.

BiscuitlyBoyle · 21/09/2024 17:34

Not only did every man who raped her know what they were doing, but every man who didn’t go through with it is also guilty. I bet there are men who knew about it, who had been on the website or heard gossip, who had had it mentioned to them be a friend and not one of them thought to report it.

Sudename · 21/09/2024 17:40

Stephane Babonneau is Mme Pelicot's later. His bio and email are linked

I don’t believe they didn’t know. When I was a child I was sex trafficked by my ‘boyfriend’. He used to ‘trade me’ for money, drugs, food, taxis, alcohol, work being done on his house etc and all of the men knew I was a child, all could see my bruises and injury’s, all of them saw me bleeding and crying, all of them saw my ‘boyfriend’ yelling at me or dragging me or holding me down or forcing me to take drugs or drink and they all still said ‘yes’ to raping me. None, in years, ever said no or even anonymously reported it to the police or did anything to help me.

This is so despicable.

Awful,awful men.

So sorry this happened to you.

DaisysChains · 21/09/2024 18:07

There is a group just like this operating in NI - but according to the PSNI their belated enquiries couldn’t secure enough evidence to proceed Hmm

which will of course have nothing to do with one of their own having been implicated

the inference of the PPS was that something of this scale and depravity would never happen

I do so hope that those PSNI & PPS ppl are watching the current situation unfold and questioning their own morality choices

I don’t think men do actually hate us. I don’t think it’s that. I think they just put themselves first to a degree that is shocking to women ( and to however many decent men there truly are).

This

Beyond belief. She can’t have any professional credibility after this.

@BoreOffAboutYerChickensEmma this is an excellent idea. I searched around even for a global petition on change.org - something to get the message to Gisele that women around the world stand with her and support her, but I can't see anything. Sick of hearing about rape and misogyny in the news. The discussion down the thread about a similar issue in NI. You just know these aren't unique cases. Often think this is how a lot of porn must be created.
