My girl is moving into halls sharing a kitchen/flat with 7 boys.

I thought there would be a mix? She’s studying engineering. They’ve matched her with her course which is mainly male. She’s moving in on Saturday. How do I help her find some female friends without sticking my nose in? She went to an all girls grammar school, so this will be a trial by fire.

Mine is in a flat with mostly boys and it's absolutely fine. The worst thing they do is leave a bit of a mess in the kitchen which is a happy trade-off for less bitchiness (which always rears its ugly head in all-female environments).

As if boys can’t be absolute arseholes!

Misogynist says, "what?"

Although surely if there is one arsehole then that Arsehole will be the same arsehole whether in a mixed or single sex household?

True, but sharing with 5 or 6 lads as opposed to one or two just means increased risk.

Are you sure it’s not just you that causes the bitchiness? I’ve never had that in all female environments and I’ve lived in quite a few.

(Not had much misogyny in largely male living environments, either, though plenty on courses and in work places).

I was just about to make the same remark! While my life has not been entirely free of 'bitchiness', and it's come from both sexes, I've lived, worked and studied with all-female groups for longer than with mixed. These have almost always been relaxed, warmly supportive and a lot more raucously enjoyable. I've been double-crossed by ten times more men than women.

What's that saying about if everyone you meet is an arsehole? Also applies if every woman you meet is a 'bitch'.
