42 too old for another baby?

Anyone had one around or after this age? Tell me your experience
I am wondering if I could, if we did try and it happens
is it too old?
Would be biggish age gaps too
and worry about the toll it would physically and mentally take?
it’s probably a bad idea but I can’t stop thinking about it!

I am 42 and wouldn't want another baby now but that is mostly because I already have a lot of dc and because the age gap between any baby and my others would be huge. If I had no other dc or a toddler or a 5-7 year old then I might want to try for a baby now.

I think the thing that would concern me most would be the risk of miscarriage and if not getting pregnant at all. I've had 2 miscarriages and I wouldn't want to risk the high chance of that happening again.

May I ask did you have any problems conceiving? My reason for asking is that the chances of conceiving > 40
are much reduced (as we all know) and so this needs to be considered. Risks of miscarriages are high. I’m presuming it may not have been that straightforward for you or was it?

@Mumsie2024 we didn’t have an easy journey and he was IVF but probably didn’t nred to be. We could conceive fairly easily (15 pregnancies in 3 years) but lost them and what I needed was immune suppressing treatment for high nk cells. With a reproductive immunologist. First pregnancy on that (no.16) was a success. Not sure that is directly age related though, more autoimmune stuff. But I have several friends of the same age 42-43 with new babies or pregnant without such issues!

Gosh 15 pregnancy losses, you poor thing! I had 5 and I thought that was a lot! Makes your baby even more special!
