Body Quirks

When I feel very upset, something twinges quickly and sharply in my left arm. Just next to the inner elbow. No idea why.

What foibles does your body have?

If I see something really cute my front teeth hurt!

AnyFucker · 16/09/2024 20:51

I have a tiny little lump in the back of my neck that if I scratch it sends a shooting pain down my spine

When I lie on my back after a meal I can actually see the peristalsis in my gut

leighks123 · 16/09/2024 20:53

If I get a random coughing fit it always makes me sneeze.

Eating polos makes me sneeze

Waxing makes me sneeze too 😂

CapitanSandy · 16/09/2024 20:54

If I’m eating and don’t like the taste of something I go deaf in my right ear for a few seconds

angstypant · 16/09/2024 20:55

When I put something sweet in my mouth after not having eaten for a while I get a shooting pain in my jaw

BugBugTheTornado · 16/09/2024 20:56

If I'm getting ill, my gums around my big back teeth tingle and swell. I always know if I've got a cold coming cos they kick off 48 hours or so before anything else.

smallchange · 16/09/2024 20:57

After I had my first child, I would get a weird electric shock type tingle in the base of my spine if I was surprised.

I also started having visual migraines

After I had my second child, the shocks just stopped. Unfortunately the migraines didn't.

Gowlett · 16/09/2024 20:58

If I eat sweets or drinks with artificial colours or flavours (which most of them don’t now) the outer part of my eyes (eyelids, under eye) becomes strangely moist & clammy.

Looking at a bright light makes me sneeze.

There's a name for this!!! Photic sneezing! I do it too.

I'm afraid of heights and get nervous ladybits when I'm somewhere high. My feet don't clench with fear, my vagina does and it's not a pleasant feeling...

hockityponktas · 16/09/2024 19:57

Have you had shingles? I used to get achey pains all my left side elbow, shoulder, wrist where I had shingles whenever I was coming down with something.

I have this! I call it my shingles tingles. Tells me I'm getting ill usually or really stressed.

HarrietJonesFlydaleNorth · 16/09/2024 21:02

Singing often makes me start to cry.

Which is inconvenient and embarrassing!

frecklejuice · 16/09/2024 21:06

Chocolate with nothing in it (so like galaxy or dairy milk and not like a twix) makes me sneeze!

If I'm anxious I get a weird feeling under my right rib and if I do sit ups they make my upper lip twitch on the right hand side!

Pudmyboy · 16/09/2024 21:16

Cecilly · 16/09/2024 20:33

I sneeze when I look at the sky and it's bright and sunny.

I believe this is a common reflex and fighter pilots are tested for it because of the speeds they need to fly at: any lapse of concentration (eg during the sneeze) could be disastrous

quirkychick · 16/09/2024 21:16

I have hypermobile feet and wrists and can get terrible cramp in my toes, when I was a teenager it used to be in the arch of my foot and I used to have to push the small bone back in. I get something similar in my wrists from time to time.

I go through phases of very clicky knees that are really loud - other people comment!

When I'm thirsty or a bit dehydrated my fingers swell up.

If anyone or anything touches the smaller of my back at exactly the point where the bum crack ends, I instantly pee. Even if I have just finished urinating I can bring out some more by touching myself on that spot.

Very similar - mine is if anything touches the middle of my right bum cheek, I instantly need to pee! I've never known anyone else with this quirk!

Pudmyboy · 16/09/2024 21:20

If I sneeze, shortly afterwards I have to yawn. But not when sneezing because of a streaming cold....

angstypant · 16/09/2024 21:25

thistimelastweek · 16/09/2024 20:22

I can't read aloud without yawning.

My hands go tingly if I get a fright.

The tingly thing is either adrenaline or blood vessel construction

Happens when we are anxious or panic

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/09/2024 21:29

If I have waited a long time before relieving myself when needing a wee and I’m finally sat on the loo and letting go I get a weird tingling sensation in the tips of my fingers that travels up to my elbows.

I have a hole in the bottom of my spinal cord that means it is shaped like an upside down Y.

hattie43 · 16/09/2024 21:33

I'm always getting random stabs of pain . The body can be weird

BrickOtter · 16/09/2024 21:35

I have this in exactly the same spot

PhilsMajicHat · 16/09/2024 21:40

I also have clomping hips.

if I angle my head a certain way, I can hear the pulse in my neck ticking like a clock. I didn’t realise other people could also hear it until we were being nosy one day peering out the window and my husband asked what the ticking was “ummm, I think it’s my neck”. Never known anyone the same, and a gp friend of the family had never heard of it either 🤷🏻‍♀️

LouH5 · 16/09/2024 21:47

When I’m really cold, my left nipple hurts. And sometimes it can actually be really painful!

supercatlady · 16/09/2024 21:52

The roof of my mouth itches when I eat hard boiled egg yolk.

My knee “locks” bent sometimes (like about 10 times in 35 years) and the only way to release it is to lie down and roll onto the opposite side so that knee is on top.

Newtrix · 16/09/2024 22:01

thistimelastweek · 16/09/2024 20:37

Telephone conversations often make me want to poo.
God knows why.

My Mum and sister both say this!! They'll often talk on the toilet.

Mine is that if I'm really tired I get this odd pain in my right knee. Never feel that type of pain anywhere else and no issue with my knee.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 16/09/2024 22:21

If I’m frightened my armpits tingle. Some wines give me stabbing sensations in my taste buds.
