Cue spooky music...

Is there anything you've read on here that's stuck with you, or you'd like to get to the bottom of?
I'd like to know what happened to the two Microsoft laptops which were delivered to a MN's daughter I think a week or two ago?
Also the woo one about the missing clock chains.

What are your unsolved MN mysteries?

@NigelHarmansNewWife i too wonder about the listed building. I think there was also a possibility of structural issues as a result of the neighbours actions.

Oh god. The one where the GP supposedly rang him every day about his apparent mystery illness. He was an abusive arse. I think I unfollowed the thread in the end as it was both maddening and baffling!

Oh I remember this one!

BirthdayRainbow · 11/09/2024 20:24

NigelHarmansNewWife · 11/09/2024 20:17

The spooky garden music and the missing ironing board I remember.

There was also a thread (a series of threads I think) about someone living in a flat in a listed conversion and the neighbour put a door in where there was previously only a window - without the correct permissions - which meant the OPs private garden area was now accessed by the other flat. She had a Spanish granny and the bloke who ran the corner shop could see what was going on with the neighbour's building work.

Edited

I loved that but heard it was all made up.

The lady who was obsessed with getting a job at marksies, did she get her dream job?! Think this was a few years ago and she was proper harsh on their customer service and stalking the manager.

Upselling steak-cut chips and wine! Funny what sticks in the mind.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2024 14:53

The mystery of the disappearing ironing board!

Came on to say about this one too! Where did it vanish to! Did she find it? Wonder if the OP will read this and put us out of our misery.

Steak cut chips with your steak, anyone? 😆 I forgot about that one. And Kevin the manager. I think that was his name...

It was titled something like 'weird?'

I can't recall fully but the woman moved home to a rural area. There was a small pub close by. Weird neighbours who may have wanted to but previously.

I always wonder what happened to her.

The biggest mystery of all... who the Flip is Boswell!

That Boswell, I hope he tripped down those post office steps Angry

Robotnik · 11/09/2024 20:45

Years ago when there was a huge Euromillions jackpot, a woman posted asking whether she should spend all of her savings (tens of thousands of pounds) on lottery tickets. People explained clearly to her about how the number of tickets she could buy would still give her little chance of winning, but she really seemed quite convinced that this was her one shot at having enough money to live on comfortably and seemed to be leaning towards doing it - even asking other posters not to buy tickets as that would lessen her winnings. She sounded quite frantic.

I occasionally think of her and wonder if she did it. I hope not.

SoleToSoulToSeoul · 11/09/2024 20:48

Aaron? Wonder why I thought it was Kev. 😄

SoleToSoulToSeoul · 11/09/2024 20:48

Oh yes Boswell. My goodness that was an anti-climax.

FedUpToTheBackTooth · 11/09/2024 19:56

I would love an update on Birdy Friend.
Also, does anyone remember the thread about the haunted office that was in a converted mill?

The converted mill haunted office thread was brilliant, @FedUpToTheBackTooth — quite certain it was entirely fictional, but it was well and perfectly plausibly written, realistically-paced and quite low-key, so I was perfectly happily along for the ride… Much more engaging than the demon voices of Savernake Forest or the pissed-off-looking nightclub ghost.

I have no idea whether I just lost track or it was deleted…? Quite a number of years ago, I think, because I’m pretty sure I was breastfeeding.

Pumpkintopf · 11/09/2024 20:59

Definitely the crows one...

PebbleDashAtOne · 11/09/2024 21:07

Birdie Friend, the haunted badge. Come back plombear and update!

Honeypickle · 11/09/2024 21:07

@CarmelaBrunella thank you so much!

HowDairy · 11/09/2024 21:31

@CarmelaBrunella aww that's so lovely to see the conclusion of that story complete with photos too!
Thanks for linking.

I have no idea what half of these posts relate to but intriguing all the same, so many unsolved mysteries 😅

I remember ghost spirit very well, I think she may have lived near me at the time. I hope she got stuff sorted.

I hope crow poster is going about her daily life not realising the hubbub she still causes. One of my user names was didthecrowseather at one point! But I suspect the crows got her.

The garden door poster was a troll apparently (or I've read on other threads)

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 11/09/2024 20:13

What happened to the woman whose cat had gotten into a neighbour's house, but they weren't living there because it was mid renovation and weren't going to be back for a fortnight or something. At one point she was lobbing bits of ham through a window that was cracked open but not big enough to climb through

Everyone said that was a troll too, it went to three threads and got more outlandish! Hard to tell though.

The ironing board that vanished. Where did it go?!

YES!!

Not you garden. A thread about an OP who kept hearing spooky music in her garden, complete with mp3 clip. Went on for a while and then ended with a very odd deletion message along the lines of 'OP has asked for this to be deleted, as has discovered something not so much supernatural but incredibly sad'

Spooky garden music was solved! I assumed the OP had her thread deleted because she was all over the national media i the following days 👻

Source of eerie nursery rhyme that kept woman awake discovered

Unnerving tune woke up residents in Ipswich by playing over and over again

Please put me out of my misery and fill in a bit of backstory about the ironing board one….I’ve never heard of it till now and it’s even got me wondering!

OP had an ironing board that simply vanished. No-one else living there , no-one else had keys

Ahhhhhbisto · 11/09/2024 22:17

Thanks for the link @Garlictest.
Why the weird munsnet message when it was deleted?

florenceandthemac · 11/09/2024 22:20

A poster called Legs (longer username but was shortened to Legs).
Her DH left her for a younger woman (who sounded awful and smug). She used to post every evening, for probably around 12 months, it helped her to get through it.
She started dating someone but called it off, if I recall, but stayed friends. She updated the tread on her kids each at different stages in life, starting uni, A levels, etc
But still often mentioning the exH and her feelings about that.
She literally posted every night. I often commented on her thread too. I'd read the update every day.
Then she stopped one night. Never came back. Ever. I always think of her
