Is your heating on yet?

It's cold here today. Sat with a hot water bottle while working from home. Tempted to pop mine on for an hour or two.

No. Not till October at least. I’m on the south coast though and it’s often a bit milder here than it is further north, although we often get strong winds which can make it feel cooler. Definitely no heating for a month or so yet, but I did put my Oodie on for a while yesterday evening!

ifonly4 · 11/09/2024 12:01

We just leave ours set to 18c, sometimes bump up if feeling ill, really chilly. Hasn't come on as current temperature is 18.9c.

If you don't really want to put heating on, are you able to go for a fast walk, cycle or on the spot exercise to warm yourself up during your break? Do you have anything warmer to wear or a blanket for your legs?

I think you should see a doctor about poor circulation issues.

Or consider putting on a jumper.

Flipping ridiculous.

Nourishinghandcream · 11/09/2024 12:05

No as the house has not got cold yet.

It is definitely chillier outside (the brisk wind does not help) but inside it is fine.
Ddog2 has been sunning herself against the french doors, Ddog1 was on the patio sitting in a sunny (sheltered) spot.
Think I will put a hat on to walk them though.

Deliberationdivinationdesperation · 11/09/2024 12:06

We put ours on for the first time yesterday

More or less this for us too. It’s set to come on if the temp drops below a certain level. Last night was a bit chilly and this morning found that the heating had come on and towels in the bathroom were nice and warm. Lovely! It only will click on for a v short while though as it’s only just under the thermostat temp.

Eh? Why are you so worked up that another person is chilly?! How bizarre!

showersandflowers · 11/09/2024 12:10

I was wondering yesterday whether it's time but realistically it's still an easy 19 degrees inside without it on. It just feels so nippy outside, it feels like it's time!

We'll try to hold out until October. Due to get back up to 20 degrees next week here so I suspect this is just a cold week.

Arctangent · 11/09/2024 12:12

Luckily mine is really well insulated so not put the central heating on.

I've got a standalone glass heater panel that I popped on for twenty minutes this morning because I slept with the window open. It's really good for quickly bringing the room temperature up a couple of degrees.

It's the first time I've had to do that in months.

You do realise different houses are completely different temperatures, do you not?

Mrsttcno1 · 11/09/2024 12:14

Not yet but I’m debating putting it on right now! It feels cold and if it was just me I’d stick my dressing gown on but my baby girl is only 5 months old so I’m worried she might be chilly!

mabelandme1 · 11/09/2024 12:16

First time today

I do realise yes. I also realise it's still over 10c and it's going to get a lot colder and this is bloody ridiculous.

But carry on normalising tropical inside conditions.

dizzydizzydizzy · 11/09/2024 12:16

No. It is 23C indoors (south facing and sun is shining). I have the windows open .

alwaysmovingforwards · 11/09/2024 12:19

No, still pretty mild.

Tropical?

And you think others are being ridiculous?

Starbarr07 · 11/09/2024 12:24

Was seriously considering putting it on this morning. Sat here with a hot water bottle and fleece. Trying to hold of until the evening time when kids are home.

NewGreenDuck · 11/09/2024 12:24

I did this morning as there was a very cold wind coming from off the North Sea. Not for long, just enough to take the chill off. I put the heating on according to the weather not the date.

Hyperion100 · 11/09/2024 12:26

Noooooo...Thermostat in the lounge currently reads 16 but I still have the windows and back door open.

I'm fine in joggers and a hoody.

ihaveanaughtydog · 11/09/2024 12:27

I've just looked at Hive and it's 17.5°in my house. I'm in a south facing room and it still feels v cold. No heating on yet though. Slippers and a jumper.

AuntieMarys · 11/09/2024 12:29

No. Hive says 17 degrees.
Won't be on till.next month

discoballdave · 11/09/2024 12:29

No. It's cold here too but I've got the windows open to air out the house and I'm just wearing a jumper and leggings.

KimFan · 11/09/2024 12:30

Mine is regularly on when needed anytime throughout the year. I won't sit in my own home and be uncomfortable. Whenever I feel chilly, on it goes!

Sourisblanche · 11/09/2024 12:30

First time this morning while kids getting dressed but not on during day yet. We’re in outer London.

Lumberton · 11/09/2024 12:32

Heating on for an hour or two and I’m layered up with woollens. I’ve been working upstairs this summer in heavenly 28c but in the last two days it’s plummeted to 16c. I’ll acclimate but it always happens so suddenly.
