Small but weirdly pleasing things.

We all love popping the lid on a jar of coffee, hot chocolate or similar thing. And everybody enjoyed the feeling of running a nail down the silvery finger crevice of a Kit Kat. What other things are there that bring small strange joy?

I love driving down a motorway or duel carriageway and having my side of the road go off on it's own away from the other half. "See you later Southbound losers!". It feels slightly adventurous.

Starling murmurations
Breakfast on a road trip - feels so purposeful and justified!
Filling the squash bottle with water when it's down to the last cm. Tastes so much better than made in a glass.
Sleeping with the window open early summer for the 4am dawn chorus
Driving away from the beach with all sand brushed off feet and nothing left behind.
A Tunnocks teacake - the packaging design, the foil, the eating experience!

Lying in bed in the dark looking straight out through my window at lightning over the sea

Getting a free pen that is nicer to hold than one I bought and writes more smoothly than a new Parker replacement.

I’m officially jealous.

Me too.

The sound of flocks of crows flying over the trees. Strangely spooky and makes me feel a little bit like I am in a gothic novel.

When I'm out walking the dog and either the buzzards or the barn owls come with us, the owls flying along the hedgeline just behind where the dog is flushing out the mice and the buzzards mewing overhead. Makes me feel all 'at one with nature', even if half of it is trying to kill the other half.
Getting in from a long cold run with the dog and putting on warm pyjamas to sit in front of the logburner and know that I might get a couple of hours peace before she wants to go out again.
Lying in bed listening to the rain outside at night.

Curly crisps. You he ones that are completely bent over on themselves.

Trimming the archway leading to the back of the garden so the ivy/russian vine are totally in line and I can see the shape of the arch.
The dog tucking his nose under my elbow when he wants afternoon snuggles.
Taking stuff to the tip so it’s no longer hanging round annoying me.
Staying in bed until my absolute limit of 9am. Bliss!

Absolutely!

I love cooking eggs. Putting a perfectly shaped poached egg on buttered toast is so satisfying.

Chopping and stirring when cooking

Peeling the skin off my feet ten days after a foot mask (gross I know)

I spent an hour de limescaling the loo the other day. The end result was very satisfying

Re pens my Lamy safari with a left-handed nib. Lovely waiting experience.

When my cat walks behind me I often put my arm under his belly and his purr as he steps over my arm is so incredibly sweet.

Walking at night as the Christmas lights outside people's homes go up and noticing the new ones.

An early morning walk before the humans are awake and the world is quiet and a little magical.

A familiar, comforting film...

This whole thread reminds me of the opening sequence to Amelie and now I want to watch it again.

My mother once complained to Kettle Chips that she was getting too many of these. They replied utterly incredulous telling her she should think herself lucky (more or less)
They also informed her that they are known as 'stickers' in the industry.

My dog's bum wiggle when he walks down the stairs
