Small but weirdly pleasing things.

We all love popping the lid on a jar of coffee, hot chocolate or similar thing. And everybody enjoyed the feeling of running a nail down the silvery finger crevice of a Kit Kat. What other things are there that bring small strange joy?

I love driving down a motorway or duel carriageway and having my side of the road go off on it's own away from the other half. "See you later Southbound losers!". It feels slightly adventurous.

New notebooks
Chocolate milkshake with perfect ratio
New pencils ✏️
Babies smile

Alectrona · 24/08/2024 22:34

@CalliopePlantain have you tried Betacap? Works wonders.

Puffalicious · 24/08/2024 22:35

A really good pick of my nose - in private- when it's all dry & crusty. Bliss.

A great back scratch.

  1. Picking the fluff out of my babies fingers and toes 2)when you take your mascara off and pull the line of goo out of your eye 🤣 3)even distributing dairylea dunker cheese on to each stick 4)scissors gliding on wrapping paper 5)when you write a perfect letter with a great pen 6)hoovering up crumbs 7)throwing the bottles in the bottle bank and hearing them smash 8)scratching a scratch card

Walking barefoot on silky sand just as the next icy cold wave washes over it.

Mynaddmawr · 24/08/2024 22:45

Double yolkers, jet washing, squeezing spots, throwing something into a container from an ambitious distance and it actually going in 🤩

Ooh and watching a bee going about its bee business, brings me so much joy

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 24/08/2024 22:49

It's gotta be fresh bedsheets after your last nightshift, 😊

ProvincialLady2024 · 24/08/2024 23:00

Peeling and then scoffing the salty crisp skin off a chicken.

First page of a new notebook.

The shiver from stepping into a hot bath on a cold night is sublime.

LunaNorth · 24/08/2024 23:02

When I grow vegetables from seed, and they appear in the garden looking just like they do in the shops.

It’s like seeing a celebrity in your garden, that you made yourself 😀

Claysta · 24/08/2024 23:04

Everyone home safe in the house, curtains drawn, front door locked and the whirr of the washing machine going .. makes me so happy !

TortolaParadise · 24/08/2024 23:05

smell of home baked bread

DoopSnoggySnogg · 24/08/2024 23:06

The first bowl from a newly opened box of cereal. Unrivalled crispness.

FGSChargethecarregularly · 24/08/2024 23:08

When making toast, being able to find a little butter knife in the drawer straight away, rather than rummaging for ages.

FGSChargethecarregularly · 24/08/2024 23:11

When the dog does its business next to the bin. So you don’t have to walk around carrying poo.

BloodandGlitter · 24/08/2024 23:13

Pulling a big boogey out that feels like it's come from your brain Grin
Or mine today spotting my Monsteras first fenestrated leaf! I've raised it from a tiny little thing from Morrisons and for the last nearly 2 years I've excitedly checked every leaf. I may have squealed and fetched everyone to see it.

Popping bubble wrap

Gorgeous thread. Threads like this are a good place to start.

When I get my first coffee of the day just the right brew, sweetness and right strength. Bliss.

When my cats sit outside the house and watching people enjoy petting them and getting floozed on. But they bring me joy anyway, so.....

There’s a real 💩 theme on this thread 😁

I’m with the first PP on the motorway branching out - such adventure. Tree lined for max impact.

The sound of rain at night. Breeze coming through the window at night.

Any wander in nature.

Central london early on hot summer days, something lovely about waiters putting tables out on the pavement for a day of sun and chat

Driving in the country at night when you can see the moon.

The first sip of cold alcohol after a looong week (there’s a distinct lack of booze on this thread)

The smell of freshly opened butter.

A smiling baby

Noticing someone’s fab clothes

k1233 · 24/08/2024 23:24

When my dog has been outside baking in the sun and comes in, all toasty and smelling like sunshine, to give me a cuddle.

Sheets fresh from drying on the line - nothing smells better.

Opening a new packet of ground coffee, again smells delicious.

Out in the country, away from the lights, when the sky is dark and velvety. Or a gorgeous full moon.

The bird song on a quiet country morning.

Topsy44 · 24/08/2024 23:26

Coming home from holiday or a night away, making a cup of tea and feeling cozy on the sofa.

solounderthesun · 24/08/2024 23:26

hearing my boys playfighting in their room, even though they should be in bed after I've got them back from custody with exh.

Maybepossibly22 · 24/08/2024 23:29

An evening cup of tea when the kids are in bed, it’s dark outside and watching something cosy on the tv. Ultimate bliss.

New crisp sheets, straight out of the packet

Watching whites drying on the line

villanova · 24/08/2024 23:29

Getting the toast or bagel buttered & to my mouth whilst it's still hot.
Having my toes massaged by my husband.
Walking home in the evening in winter - in town, so not completely dark, but seeing the stars & planes in the night sky. Extra bonus if I get the smell of woodsmoke.

Puffalicious · 24/08/2024 23:31

Popping bubble wrap

Oh my God, yes!

A cosy cover after a long day at work.

A foot rub so good it's as good as sex (DH gets mock offended when I say this 🤣. They're just different, equally knee-tembling pleasures).

The smell of fireworks/ bonfires.

Twinkly lights in the winter.

NearlySeptember · 24/08/2024 23:31

Love going to the gym and the electric barrier to get in and out the car park is broken and upright.

So I don't have to lean out the window and use my card to get out the car park.

I don't know why, but it just gives me such joy!
