Do you remember your past lives?

SparklyJadeFawn · 22/08/2024 18:00

I remember two of mine.

I was just in a yoga class and a man there was telling me that he remembers all of his past lives.

I think it's so so interesting!

No, I don't believe in past lives at all. What makes you think dreams are to do with past lives?

invisiblecat · 22/08/2024 19:04

I once visited Harrogate and felt completely at home, and knew my way around the town. I also knew that I'd never ever been there before.

That was an odd experience. I was only freaked out about it afterwards.

Because if you read spiritual books which I do, dreams are meant to have great significance.

A lot of spiritual books say that we are in a higher vibrational state when we dream. We are not so densely attached to physical reality

And so it is easier for us to remember past lives in dreams. It is also easier for us to connect with our dead loved ones in our dreams,

Which is why so many people have dreams about people who have died coming to speak to them in their dreams

How far back in history and archaeology do past lives go? Can past lives extend before Homo sapiens existed?

What part of you is being reborn each time, and when did that first come into existence?

GoTigers · 22/08/2024 19:12

If we all have past lives, why do only those who believe in them get to revisit them? Why aren’t we all experiencing them?

JoJothegerbil · 22/08/2024 19:15

If you're in a permanent state of reincarnation why can you only remember some of your previous lives?

PeterGabrielsunderpants · 22/08/2024 19:16

I used to have a horrid recurring dream in which I was an adult who saw a boy slip off some steps leading down to a big river. He fell into the water and disappeared. I hesitated to dive in after him because I had a young child with me, plus I was wearing glasses and hesitated as to whether to take them off or not. I sat my child on the steps and told him firmly to stay put. Then I dived in. Too late. I swam around under the water but couldn't find the boy.
For years I had this dream, with variations. It was quite disturbing. Then finally one night I had the dream as usual, but then my spiritual teacher appeared in the dream and told me that this had really happened in one of my past lives.
That was the last time I ever had the dream.

A lot of people are experiencing them.

But they tend to be people that are interested in the area anyway, and who are open to the possibility of past lives

It's kind of like if your mind is open to the idea and start to look into it, you start to have more memories and experiences.

If you think it's a load of rubbish- your mind is closed off to it.

It's a good question. I don't know all the answers.

One suggestion is that maybe people more vividly remember the lives that were more traumatic/ and had a more profound effect on them

The two men that I met in mediation class, both described past lives that were traumatic.

That's so interesting . Thanks for sharing.

It definitely adds to the theory that maybe people more vividly remember the more traumatic past lives. As it still upsets them
.
It's so interesting that met a spiritual teacher. Do you remember what he / she looked like?

It seems an odd confirmation bias for only ‘believers’ to experience their past. What if you’re totally neutral?

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 22/08/2024 19:25

If you only wanted agreement you could have posted on one of the spiritual boars. You have posted in general chat so you are going to get a lot of sane people telling you it is all woo-woo.

The fact you have lots of people around you who also believe in woo is a great example of selection effect.

I didnt say only believers experience their past.

I said that people who are interested in it, will start to do things to try to remember it more.

Ie I know people who have gone to mediation classes where the focus is on getting to a deep meditation to remember past lives.

And I know people who have gone to past life regression specialists, where they help them to remember past lives too.

In the words of candace owens.

"You told me .
Girlfriend.!"

Go you. I hope you feel big and strong.

I don't think past lives is very woo. There are huge amounts of documentaries about past lives online.

Medical doctors have written books about their patients who remember their past lives.

Many lives, many masters is such a book

No, if I’ve had any but in my next life I’m coming back as a much loved family pet Labrador or not at all!

I’m coming back as a pub dog in a nice rural inn. Minesweep all the leftover wine, all the pork scratchings I can eat and endless tummy tickles in front of a roaring fire. I am already pining for my future life!

ABirdsEyeView · 22/08/2024 19:29

If we can inherit physical characteristics from our ancestors, maybe we can inherit memories.

I heard a theory once that we pass through recurring g lives with the same group of people each time - you may be the parent in one life and the child in the next. I'm not sure I believe it, but it's interesting.

jollygoose · 22/08/2024 19:31

I believe it although personally cannot remember any past lives. I have often heard about very young children who remember other parents and places. These events usually forgotten after the age of 5. I would really like to be born again and hopefully do better. I would like to achieve more and be a kinder daughter wife and mother.

Yeah there a lot of videos of toddlers telling their parents - I used to be your mum.

Can you answer me this? If there are approximately 7bn people in the world, the highest the population has ever been, they can't have all had past lives, can they, because there were far fewer people?.

I had a dream I was having sex and my vulva fell off. The man I was with got really angry, picked it up and threw it at the wall.

Now was that a past life memory or just a dream?

I have seen that film too.

It is probably more likely that it just doesn't occur to you. That peculiar dream you keep having, or that sense of deja-vu is just accepted as that and nothing else.

I get premonitions. I never knew that I did until after a particularly vivid one. I got home later that day and watched it on the news, then realised that I had visualised it before it happened.

KateDelRick · 22/08/2024 19:33

What is a "regression specialist" and how do they do it.

optimistic40 · 22/08/2024 19:33

No, but my daughter told me some things about the 'mum she had before me' when she was three, and asked what happened to that mum, where is she now.
