In A&E - keep me company

Skidded and came off my pedelec bike, landed on my leg and elbow. There is a hole in my elbow so decided it needed A&E. After being triaged I've been sent to Minor Injuries. Anyone want to keep me company? I am not good on my own and would also much rather be in bed than here...

Oh dear, that sounds painful ☹️ I've spent many a night sat in a&e, I'd have rather been in bed too.

Haggisfish3 · 15/08/2024 22:27

Ooh poor you! I whacked myself in nose with my car boot but it’s not too bad. I hope it’s not too busy for you.

Mummapenguin20 · 15/08/2024 22:37

Ouch that sounds painful

TheChosenTwo · 15/08/2024 22:41

Oh ouch!
Glad your injuries are (or hopefully!) minor and fingers crossed you’re patched up soon and sent on your way home.
I really fancy a bike but would be terrified of cycling on the roads around here 😭
Have you had any dinner?!

olderbutwiser · 15/08/2024 22:52

Any chance of a photo for sporner corner, or would it be too gory?

Edited to add: you poor thing etc (shameful attempt at sympathy and compassion)

shellyleppard · 15/08/2024 22:53

Oh no op sending hugs x hope you are sorted soon x

Wahine24 · 15/08/2024 22:57

Hope your getting seen (now!) soon

twohotwaterbottles · 15/08/2024 22:59

Hope they can patch you up quickly so you can get home to a cup of tea and your bed. Poor you. 😬x

Wahine24 · 15/08/2024 22:59

Toast! You need a cuppa and tea and toast that fixes everything !

stronglatte · 15/08/2024 23:00

Oh no that sounds painful . No idea what a pedelec bike..

Thisreallyhurts · 15/08/2024 23:00

Thanks all! I've got a dressing on my elbow and I'm waiting for an X ray now. The waiting has not been too bad at all so far, I'm really lucky that the NHS is still functioning properly where I am.

It's an electric bike that assists you when you pedal - so it won't accelerate by itself if you don't pedal. The ebikes that get a bad press are usually more like e mopeds.

This was entirely one-sided, like all my cycling mishaps. I am Dutch and couldn't live without a bike ❤️

Yes, had dinner before I ventured out. Topped up with a Twix as I was shivering from the shock.

Just go home and go to minor injuries tomorrow when it’s not so busy?

stronglatte · 15/08/2024 23:05

@Thisreallyhurts thanks for explaining ! I wish I could direct you to something that will help you while away the await but you're in the best place already ! Hope they don't keep you waiting too long

It's not too busy now. I will have my 5yo to look after tomorrow so I'd rather get it over and done with now.

Oh no OP, that sounds painful. I hope you can get home to your bed soon. Meanwhile, we can keep you company here! Flowers

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/08/2024 23:08

Make up some back stories for the staff and other patients and pretend you're in an episode of Casualty.

Hope you've not broken anything, but if you have get some strong painkillers.

Wahine24 · 15/08/2024 23:08

His long have you lived here? why did you come work? Study? Pleasure? Or are you her on holiday? X
Obviously you can ignore this, was just thinking of something to help pass the time

Edited

This made me laugh! I daren't take the dressing off just yet because when the original plaster came off it started bleeding again... But I am quite the sporner myself so when I get a chance I will!

I've been binge watching New Amsterdam today while I iron for holiday. (It's lime a New York based Casualty). If I were with you I could probably triage you correctly, order some tests and dress your wounds for you.......fortunately for you I am safely at home.

Do you need stitches? Or an Xray? Or something else?

Howdidtheydothat · 15/08/2024 23:12

Yep, we can keep you company, OP anyone interesting in the minors injuries with you ? Love hearing how people end up there 😳 always seem to be a bike, ladder or trampoline involved 😆
hope you are feeling a bit less shocked now.

Howdidtheydothat · 15/08/2024 23:15

Family tales from minor injury units
1.knitting needle through hand (person threw themself down onto sofa, needles were down side of the cushion/sofa arm)
2.eyelid slashed open by child siblings’ toenail during a play fight

otravezempezamos · 15/08/2024 23:16

Oh dear OP. Hope you get sorted soon.
Was sat there the other night with my friend after she came off her motorbike taking a corner too narrow. She actually got back on and made it to my house which was closer than hers but was black and blue and I insisted on taking her. Poor thing she was shivering with the shock, I couldn’t get her warm.

CaptainBolt · 15/08/2024 23:17

How are you getting home afterwards? Hope you've got tea and snacks.
