Got home to find someone in my parking space

Popped out to the library earlier and came back to find a random car in my space. It's not a proper driveway but it's the end of the lane down the side of my house, my detached garage is next to the house at the end of the lane.

We have houses that back onto the lane (adjacent to our building) and I'm sure it's one of these houses that the owner of the car has gone into, their visitors have parked there a couple of times before.

I've just parked up their arse and gone into the house, waiting on the bell ringing. Was reluctant to do this as our neighbours have right of way over the lane for their pwn vehicles but it's a visitor to their house, so fuck it.

Well from what you describe they are entitled to park there!

No, I own that piece of land. We moves in recently and it was clear from the deeds that it belongs to us

but the neighbours have right of way you said? so its not really your land.. its just a parking space you have declared as yours?

No it is mine. The way the neighbours park means they have right of way to get in and out of their own spaces at the rear of their houses. This car isn't in the neighbours space, it's in mine.

The garage is decrepit, the roof is partly open to the elements and garage door is broken. We planned to either knock it down or repair it when we moved it but our sare cash got eaten up by unforeseen work on the house

Well it sounds like it might be unclear to visitors where they should park.
Maybe put up a sign o show visitor parking or if there is no free space a sign to say it's yours?

I would definitely invest in a sign. A right of way is very clear that it is just that - a right to pass not a right to stop. The visitors may not know that hence a sign would be good!

Err no, we have a shared drive with the neighbours, they own the entranceway but we have right of way over it so we can get to our side of the drive. This is fairly common.

This drawing is a bit crap. Our garages are set further back, there's space for two cars down the side of my house but we only park one of the cars there so the neighbours can get their cars in and out their own spaces

Would it be clear to a stranger that the piece of land is privately owned?

well fingers crossed they are not visiting for long and they knock and ask you to unblock them!
