What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Assam teabags from Waitrose.

Tablematremote · 09/08/2024 21:55

Oh. I forgot my label printer. As soon as we get some new gizmo I label it’s plug and adapter.

Hot water bottle - distracts from chronic pain

Legami ersable pens - I just like the feel of them

Dishwasher - we didn't have one for years and I'd miss it now

Woodwick candles - the sound and the smell - perfect

My car

It's not posh or expensive, but I only passed my driving test four years ago when I was 50. Up until then I used public transport to get to and from work.

The luxury of owning a car has made my life so much easier. No more standing at bus stops in the freezing cold, no more space invasion from strangers, no more paying for taxis when said public transport fails to turn up!

I love my little car. Air conditioning so I'm cool when it's too hot, warm when it's freezing outside. I'm dry when it's raining. No more carrying arm fulls of heavy shopping bags from the bus stop, now they all go in the boot.

I positively relish my drive to and from work, I see it as me time. I either catch up on phone calls to family or listen to an audio book. I have sweeties and nice air fresheners.

My little car is my most appreciated belonging ❤️

Handheld clothes steamer - bought it for DD for uni but she left it home and I love it - can also use when I'm already wearing the dress but need a bit of a sort out .
Love this thread
Any recommendations for a flask that will deliver hot coffee in the morning gratefully received x

My car which is hated by many on here because it's a big 4x4. But after a lifetime of driving tiny cars it is so comfortable, and has lovely things like heated seats and a heated windscreen. I like being up high in it too.

Same here, we traded both our cars last summer for our lovely Mercedes suv. Driving it is a joy, it’s comfy and smooth, black and shiny, and I love it. I get to drive it to work every day and even the early, early starts are bearable now!

My lovely bed and bed linen, especially line-dried in the sunshine.

The Ddog… warm, fluffy, cuddly, daft great lump

CollieDug · 09/08/2024 21:58

My Vespa 125GTS

i pootle on it around lovely country roads. Not speedy but I’m a reasonably competent rider now (licence not CBT). It’s matt black too and looks very cool and stylish (unlike me).

the feeling of swooshiness is just perfect

no interest in motorbikes. Just the “ciao!” Of a Vespa.

My wife makes my life better in every single way imaginable.

Ooh I've never heard of a heated yoga mat!

I had to order it from America and then buy an electrical transformer to use it safely 🙈. It turned out to be pricey but worth it for me!!

ThePlumVan · 09/08/2024 22:00

Partly placemarking so I can go back and read these, but …

Small Thermos beaker so I can take a proper cup of tea everywhere I go (no expensive nasty drinks for PlumVan!)

Alexa Dot in my living room for the mornings when it’s sunny in there and I’m eating my porridge to beautiful violin music.

Slow cooker so I get to come home to beautiful smells and a quick easy dinner.

2 shihtzu sisters who make my house a home, and get me out walking everyday and improve my mental health more than I can ever say.

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 09/08/2024 22:01

If we’re going for objects rather than living things like people or pets, I’d have to say air con in the bedroom 🤣 it’s absolute bliss on hot nights. Couldn’t manage without it now, I hate the heat

sausagepastapot · 09/08/2024 22:02

YY to shakti mat, I absolutely love it and have done for years and years

Adore my robot hoover- total game changer and worth every penny

I've got two dishwashers and I couldn't be happier about this 😝

Dyson airwrap- saves me so much on blowdries and so bloody easy to use with reliable results every time

Sage coffee machine- so my coffee is right there in the morning

Heated blanket is a total total winner too

sorry...I appear to have quite a few 🙈

TrustPenguins · 09/08/2024 22:03

My dressing gown.
The family blanket we all share on the sofa.
My favourite mug.
My straighteners.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/08/2024 22:04

@DoloresDelEriba same here- love it!!

TeamPolin · 09/08/2024 22:04

My Dyson fan.... the loyal friend of the sweaty menopausal woman! 😁

ThatTwinklyPearlSloth · 09/08/2024 22:04

• a heated airer - has really reduced how often we need to use the tumble dryer in winter
• heated blanket/throw
• as other have said, a year round pedicure
• I adore Emma Bridgewater pottery, particularly the mugs, I love a cup of tea in one of those
• a Meaco fan
• Dyson airwrap
• also love the practicality of most Joseph Joseph products whilst cooking🤣 they’re expensive but I love the ergonomic designs

Moonshine5 · 09/08/2024 21:12

@SheUltra any particular brand?

Don't buy anything other than a Shakti mat. The original & best.
I got one for Christmas & it's changed my life. No more back pain, & mentally it rests, re-sets & recharges me- essential in these menopause years.

Persuaded DH to use it & after 3 days only hos sciatica was completely gone. He's now obsessed too.

There's a great app that talks you through it all. Best thing I've EVER bought.

NosnowontheScottishhills · 09/08/2024 22:05

The view out of my window. I look onto hills I watch the seasons change, and the weather changing, I see migratory geese in the winter swallows and swifts in the summer, bats at night, the sun sets over the hills, I see kites flying, and my neighbours and I think occasionally a golden eagle. I watch the cows on the dairy farm, I know when they are turned out in spring that winter is finally over, I see young lambs skipping in the spring and they make me smile, in the winter the hills turn dark the granite outcrops turn black, in the spring they are covered in bright yellow gorse now heather is coming through soon the trees will change colour for autumn.
i used to dream of owning a house with a view and now I’ve got one it just makes me happy.

Wells37 · 09/08/2024 22:06

A coffee pod machine set up by the bed. Wake up and turn it straight on

EI12 · 09/08/2024 22:06

Mould and mildew remover spray - the ONLY thing which removes complicated stains from white tablecloths, Vanish does not do it!!!!

mustardrarebit · 09/08/2024 22:07

This is hard, I feel like there are quite a few things that would fit this.

Super king size bed and good quality sheets and bedding.
My new car. I love driving it and the space for the kids. Being crammed into a Qashqai for the last few years makes a practical car feel like luxury!
Wireless noise cancelling earbuds.
Our beautiful Kashan rug, definitely a splurge to celebrate a special wedding anniversary.
Dishwasher.
Shark cordless vacuum. I miss our robot vacuum though (RIP).
Our "wine cellar". We bought a load of wine from an auction warehouse to store in the cellar. It was a bargain price, but really good wine that will last us for years. DH also collects whisky and that is a nice thing we share on date nights occasionally.
Air conditioning in our attic bedroom. I can't imagine sleeping up there without it some nights!

Whousestypewritersanyway · 09/08/2024 22:08

My Quooker tap, have had it for six years now and wouldn’t be without it, and my electric Mini Cooper - I love being able to cool it down or warm it up remotely from the app on my phone before I get into it. Watching your car defrost itself in the winter is a novelty that will never wear off!

Radionowhere · 09/08/2024 22:09

Eufy robot hoover that empties itself. I love it.

Backtoanoldname · 09/08/2024 22:10

A tossup between my hobby/craft room (+ its contents) or our camper van.

Depends how I feel and the weather.
