What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Heated throw in the winter.
Lots of built in wardrobe space in our new home - I like being able to organise and see all my clothes and don’t have to fold down as much as I used to in my old house
my electric car - it’s a dream to drive, really spacious, and lots of cool gadgets
having a room at home that I can use as a home gym
But hands down, having a cleaner.

I would also have to say my 4x4 car. It’s big, reliable, kids, dogs, bikes all fit in. Heated seats, all the mod cons.

BCBird · 09/08/2024 21:45

Tumble dryer

Amazingideaorcrazy · 09/08/2024 21:46

I have a little espresso machine with a milk frother nozzle. It's great

My audible subscription and my borrow box.

I find it so much easier to do my housework and those boring maintenance jobs that you put off. But now I find a decent audiobook and I only air myself to listen to the latest book when I'm doing housework or driving. Never thought I'd be eager to do decorating or clean the bathroom but here I am with a house that's cleaner than it's ever been before and I've listened to books I never thought I'd enjoy. Is odd though, I would have swore 100% that I'd always prefer actual books but I love audio books so much and I feel very virtuous as it tricks my brain into thinking I'm multitasking. I haven't read a written book in almost 2 years.

I have another one.

My kids bought me a V pillow ages ago as a gift.

I'm not 80yo or breastfeeding so I wondered if it was just going to be in the way.

I absolutely love it for reading in bed. I can't believe how much I love it. I've just had to get a new pillowcase as the original has worn out!

Money

Haha

No, seriously, private health insurance

betterangels · 09/08/2024 21:47

Tumble dryer. It really makes a difference to me. I hated having clothes all over the flat.

bonzaitree · 09/08/2024 21:47

A really well fitting bra.

Royalshyness · 09/08/2024 21:48

Not for this time of year but autumn / winter - electric wolly blanket for sitting on the sofa & after a shower

AustralianCrunch · 09/08/2024 21:48

A good quality mattress and sheets
A favorite mug
Beautiful journals with thick creamy paper and a good pen

GoldenLegend · 09/08/2024 21:49

My Roman blinds. I absolutely adore them and would never have thought of having them if there hadn't been one left in the house when I moved in. So simple, so elegant!

Harvestfestivalknickers · 09/08/2024 21:49

A nice pen in my handbag at all times.

Dishwasher....it's quite a big thing in regards to cost to buy and space, not everyone can fit one in but it's so worth it

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Grew up with a dishwasher,moved abroad didn't have one for like 7 years....felt like a lifetime🤣

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/08/2024 21:50

AirPods and Apple Music so I can access anything I want to hear.

My cat - we lost our lovely girl cat earlier in the year to bastard cancer, and adopted a new boy shortly after. I worried I wouldn’t be able to love him but I really, really do.

Perfume and red lipstick, always.

A pair of stripy knitted socks that my friend’s mum made for me. They are so cosy, and they make me smile seeing them on my feet!

Which one do you have? I’ve tried so many and only have lukewarm in the morning!

for me it would be my caravan chair. I can get the footrest out, my book and a glass of wine and I’m happy as a sandboy whether it’s in my garden or away at a site

My ex had a small coffeemaker in the bedroom with a timer so the coffee was brewed by wake up time.

Alifemoreordinary123 · 09/08/2024 21:50

A mug of tea (not always caffeinated). It’s the heat of it - I adore and appreciate it every day.

AtlasPine · 09/08/2024 21:51

My own room. I do love my dh but I love my
space too.

Cheeseandcrackers40 · 09/08/2024 21:51

This is quite niche...but mine is a heated yoga mat. I practice every morning before work followed by a breathwork meditation, the space I practice in is essentially a shed so in the winter it gets really cold (esp at 6am). The thing that gets me out of bed is knowing that at the end of my practice I will feel awesome as i relax on a heated mat with a big blanket over me!! It feels like a proper gift to myself 😊😊

Ooh I've never heard of a heated yoga mat!

My V pillow. Reading in bed is so much more comfortable. Complete old lady vibes but I love it.
My hot water bottle. I've used it every night this year other than about 10
Our rainfall shower. When we got the bathroom done last year, I was in two minds but went for it and also had an adjustable one fitted to the wall. The adjustable one is mainly used when cleaning the bathroom! Holidays can now be a disappointment if there isn't a rainfall shower.

MaidOfSteel · 09/08/2024 21:52

My adapted car. I wouldn't be allowed to drive without it.

And my Thermos drinking flask. I like to have a cold drink beside me at all times, especially for during the night if I wake up thirsty.

Ponkpinkpink15 · 09/08/2024 21:52

For me, it's all kinds of tiny things.

  • using a little bowl I bought in a village in France I used to go to a lot before the world changed
  • using some bowls/cutlery my mum bought for me when she was last in the UK & we were on holiday, she's unlikely to come back again (🥲80's & hates the journey, from NZ)
  • having a box where I put my keys everytime I come home (& so have ended the 'key panic.
  • having enough charger cables in the places I need them! (& portable battery charger)
  • Small useful things where I need them!

boring compared to many, but these inexpensive things make my day to day life much nicer.

Tablematremote · 09/08/2024 21:54

My chiropractor. I see them every six weeks for a maintenance visit.

my super comfy bed
and then next but definitely not least my robo vacuum, that cracks on while I enjoy my cuppa

Fleetheart · 09/08/2024 21:54

my fitted wardrobes have enhanced my life no end. Middle-aged excitement doesn’t get much more than this!
