What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Bore off, thread derailers. Totally unnecessary on an otherwise great thread.

For me- we bought a Premier Inn mattress and it's amazing! No regrets. We have a superking and I genuinely love getting into bed.

@EasilyDisturbed

you will see from my earlier posts that I engaged entirely in the spirit of this thread and even came back to mention how I’d bought a couple of things as a result. it really was is a lovely thread

But tackling climate change - and its significant consequences on all of us - is far far more important. So apologies but I will ask someone for appropriate references when they’ve made an unsubstantiated comment which risks influencing people who are making decisions impacting climate change. I’m also autistic so tend to get quite exercised about truth and fairness.

but I’ll leave you now having clearly misread the societal expectations and social cues and send myself back off to special needs mumsnet.

@CollieDug don't let the SUV owners round on you. You are entitled to state your views and feel strongly about them. Funny how people become thread police when the views epoused by the hijacker does not gell with theirs. If anyone cannot take a bit of hijacking (it happens all the time FFS), then they should get out of the kitchen, not you.

@Thisismynewname23 Let’s agree to differ,

We can't agree to differ because this is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. "Agree to differ" is what people do when say, they can't agree on what colour of carpet looks better. In this case, the facts are overwhelming that SUVs are extremely dangerous vehicles, both for passengers and those outside of the SUV.

my main buying point not a single fatality as a passenger or driver of the Volvo is huge,

You bought a car because there haven't been any fatalities for passengers of the vehicle?

Is that it?

So just forget about everyone outside of the vehicle, right? "Me me me."

No I bought one because it suits our lifestyle and work moving animals and living rurally, for our second car we are staying with Volvo because they are an absolute joy to drive, so reliable, safety wise they won hands down and I love driving it, the fact that my family are as safe as I can have them is a massive concern to me

This was a lovely affirming thread til it got hijacked. Why do people have to quarrel about something unrelated to the thread?
one thing that would make life better is people taking their disagreements elsewhere.

Good old Mumsnet, where people can start an argument in an empty room.

Speaking of rooms, maybe the threadjackers need to get one.

I've bought SUVs for the past 15 years for no other reason than I love them and they have massive boot space. DFOD.

Littlesunshinemoon · 12/08/2024 19:27

Can anyone recommend an ice maker? Seen it mentioned a few times but no idea which one is better! Thanks so much 😊

DamnYerEyes · 12/08/2024 19:35

@frogpole I'd love to have seahorses but we are away a lot and I'd struggle to find someone to look after them. How do you manage when you go away? Do they take a lot of looking after?

I recently mentioned on here that I love my Range Rover and you'd think I'd admitted I was the bastard love child of Hitler & Myra Hindley.

TheNuthatch · 12/08/2024 19:41

Another one for my list is my neck fan.
I've been wearing it a lot recently, especially when cooking in the heat, or during a hot flush.
It was about £20 from Amazon and worth every penny!

Well, I've never killed a pedestrian in any of my 4X4s, AND my current murder machine is ULEZ compliant, so.... 💅

HebeMumsnet · 12/08/2024 19:52

Evening, everyone. Can we maybe draw a line under the SUV conversation for now and just agree to differ on that one? It feels a bit unfair for the OP to have her thread derailed. Thank you! Flowers

ScottBakula · 12/08/2024 20:32

Well said @HebeMumsnet , thank you.

@SideProfile Could you recommend a mat please? I have a terrible back, I'll try anything.

I just got an off brand “acupressure mat” from Amazon. My particular one isn’t there any more but they’re all the same (I was too tight to shell out on a Shatki mat!).
Changed my life!

My Sage coffee machine, got it from DH at Christmas and it gets used minimum once a day, typically 2-4 times a a day.

Our cleaner - does that count?

My bath stand caddy thing and a fancy face mask that lets me have a face mask, while having a glass of wine and watching an episode on the iPad in the bath away from the world - totally self care for me.

My dog - a cuddle with him always sets the world right

Super king bed with down blanket and pillows - best sleep ever!

Any fitness/wellness items that make your life a bit nicer?
I'm trying to get a bit healthier and was hoping for inspiration?

My yoga classes, I wish I'd started sooner. Feel strong and does so much for my mind.

Partridgewell · 13/08/2024 07:19

For Velvetiser fans, a matcha latte in the Velvetiser is sensational. I recommend Bird and Blend raspberry ripple flavour.

Perfectlystill · 13/08/2024 07:22

My dog
My Dyson fan
My Delonghi coffee machine

I have another one.

My kids bought me a V pillow ages ago as a gift.

I'm not 80yo or breastfeeding so I wondered if it was just going to be in the way.

I absolutely love it for reading in bed. I can't believe how much I love it. I've just had to get a new pillowcase as the original has worn out!

I don't understand how V pillows work.

Don't you just fall back info the gap between the arms?

Is it Barista Express? I have that and I love it!

I'm working away for a few months at the moment and it's the thing in my house I most miss and look forward to getting back to!

Fairy lights inside and solar powered ones outside. The solar powered ones always lift my spirits when they come on at night. I can see them from our lounge.
