Planned Far Right extremist events in London today - Please be vigilant

Planned ‘demonstrations’ in London today by racists/Far Right.

I just caught up with the BBC news on the riots this morning, and the article states the Metropolitan Police are aware of planned ‘demonstrations’ by these extremists in at least 4 areas of London today. I clicked on the link, and found a list of areas they are aware of.

These areas have been listed as:

Finchley - specifically North Finchley
Walthamstow
Harrow
Hounslow

Sadiq Khan has asked that Londoners check in on our friends, neighbours and family members who are of ethnic minority heritage.

I am so saddened and disgusted that this is happening in my city, and I hope and pray that everyone will stay safe and strong.

Please also be vigilant on your journeys in and out of London, as some of this scum will no doubt travel from Greater London and other areas of the country to take part.

We live in Greater London, and are in a mixed heritage marriage with children and have really noticed since just before the general election onwards, that many people here have become angrier and more open and vocal with their racist views. Reform gained many votes here, and many here hate Labour with a passion. A couple of the Mums I was Facebook friends with from my children’s school posted numerous images of their attendance at the EDL and Tommy Robinson demonstration in London a couple of weeks ago, complete with words of support. Needless to say, they are no longer friends of mine - online or otherwise.

My Husband was racially abused a few weeks ago in our street when trying to park his car for the first time in nearly 20 years of living in London. I’m struggling to not see this is a coincidence after having written what I wrote above.

I’m not in London but there is also something planted for my city.

the shops are closing early and boarding up so they are taking it seriously. Really hope the fact that people from previous protests are being arrested so promptly will put people off carrying on.

CormorantStrikesBack · 07/08/2024 06:42

And I’m sorry about your husband. The whole situation is making me so sad. Awful how some low lives are causing so much trouble.

SprinkleOfSunak · 07/08/2024 07:00

@CormorantStrikesBack

It really is terrible, and I agree that hopefully the quick arrests will help. I do worry that they short sentences will just be seen as laughable though, and worn as some kind of badge of honour.

@SprinkleOfSunak thank you . I'm sorry you've seen an uptick in racist attitudes in London. We are a mixed race family in London too and haven't but are braced for this evening and hoping for sense and kindness to prevail. We've been checking in on each other in the street we live in.

CormorantStrikesBack · 07/08/2024 07:11

I think in the last riots the average sentence was 4 years so hopefully will be similar this time. They need to start handing out sentences asap so people realise they won’t be getting community service or a 4 month sentence only.

twopercent · 07/08/2024 07:13

so sorry this happened to your husband. Sending you lots of love

raincloudsandholidays · 07/08/2024 07:20

Very sorry for what happened to your husband OP

I was planning to go to london today but now feeling it's not safe

SprinkleOfSunak · 07/08/2024 08:20

@stronglatte

I’m pleased to hear that you have so far not been subjected to this and hope it remains this way.

Whipps Cross A&E will be full of bloodstained Stone Island shirts if they do turn up in Walthamstow.

Don't worry

Prison will be a shock to them. Believe me, it will be grim

SprinkleOfSunak · 07/08/2024 08:27

Thank you for all the kind messages of support for my Husband - this means so much to me, and will to him too when I show him.

We have a lovely family day out planned in Central London, and then I have tickets booked for the cinema for the evening - an expensive Everyman cinema. I don’t know what we’ll do about either yet. I don’t want these people to prevent us from living our lives, but equally we need to feel safe.

My brothers office in Croydon is closing for 2 days and everyone told to wfh. His office is near the Immigration office in Croydon. Riots planned for there too.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 07/08/2024 09:02

Our town is on the list for today

Where are these rioters coming from? Our town will only be able to summon a handful of home grown rioters.....so are they travelling in by train?

ForYouManImADoomBoy · 07/08/2024 09:07

i used to live in one of the areas on the list, it was a great place full of lovely people. sick of these scumbags thinking they are the voice of the british people. Hope everyone in an area these things are happening stays safe and protected

Rooroobear · 07/08/2024 09:10

It’s not just London. There are planned “protests” all over England today. I’d suggest some research when going most places today. There’s 4 planned around me in the local towns so opportunity to go far is null really today

Gooselady · 07/08/2024 09:22

How do we find out if there is one planned today for my town/city?

Iknowjadon · 07/08/2024 09:26

This is so dreadful, OP thinking of you and your family xxx

beguilingeyes · 07/08/2024 09:33

Walthamstow has a proud record of driving these scum out of town. They're picking on the wrong place

I am so sorry for your husband's experience and disgusted by the rioters behaviour. It is so upsetting. They seem to think they are the voice of white British people. They are not. They are a boil on British society. Hopefully in exposing themselves in this way, the law will be able to identify and prosecute each and everyone of them.

Rooroobear · 07/08/2024 09:39

This is what I’ve found but I’m sure there will be many more unorganised “protests”

What an awful day. I'm so sad our country has come to this and embarrassed.

Sorry your husband has experienced abuse. Please know these people although violent and idiotic are a minority.

I'm hopeful today will be nothing much because of the recent arrests and sentencing ( I may head out of London early myself and finish my work at home)

Rooroobear · 07/08/2024 09:46

Some of these are happening at dinner time (or lunch time) just an fyi

Samcro · 07/08/2024 09:46

sad to see my town on that list.

Lazy fuckers should be at work instead of rioting, they should be ashamed of themselves, bigging themselves up in front of their mates.

PigeonFeatherInMyChair · 07/08/2024 09:48

I'm so sorry you're facing this, OP. It's just awful what they are doing - both to the infrastructure of society but also to everyone on the receiving end of their racist stupidity.

We could do with a week of rain. I've a feeling their desperate need to "protest" will melt like the Wicked Witch of the West when it comes into contact with some wet weather. But that will never cover up how they have made it clear just what kind of shitty bastards they are.
