Planned Far Right extremist events in London today - Please be vigilant

Planned ‘demonstrations’ in London today by racists/Far Right.

I just caught up with the BBC news on the riots this morning, and the article states the Metropolitan Police are aware of planned ‘demonstrations’ by these extremists in at least 4 areas of London today. I clicked on the link, and found a list of areas they are aware of.

These areas have been listed as:

Finchley - specifically North Finchley
Walthamstow
Harrow
Hounslow

Sadiq Khan has asked that Londoners check in on our friends, neighbours and family members who are of ethnic minority heritage.

I am so saddened and disgusted that this is happening in my city, and I hope and pray that everyone will stay safe and strong.

Please also be vigilant on your journeys in and out of London, as some of this scum will no doubt travel from Greater London and other areas of the country to take part.

We live in Greater London, and are in a mixed heritage marriage with children and have really noticed since just before the general election onwards, that many people here have become angrier and more open and vocal with their racist views. Reform gained many votes here, and many here hate Labour with a passion. A couple of the Mums I was Facebook friends with from my children’s school posted numerous images of their attendance at the EDL and Tommy Robinson demonstration in London a couple of weeks ago, complete with words of support. Needless to say, they are no longer friends of mine - online or otherwise.

My Husband was racially abused a few weeks ago in our street when trying to park his car for the first time in nearly 20 years of living in London. I’m struggling to not see this is a coincidence after having written what I wrote above.

Rioters have started to be sentenced. I hope this might put some of them off.

stronglatte · 07/08/2024 14:09

West london update : Apparently they will start at 3.30pm Syon Lane/ Great West Road area so advice is to stay away

ImRonBurgandy · 07/08/2024 14:13

Just back from the town centre again, there are more police than people! 5 vans, police walking around in pairs wearing riot gear talking to local people.

IncompleteSenten · 07/08/2024 14:14

These thugs have planned a riot in Sheffield today.
My son got an email from uni saying some of their buildings will be closed and what's open will have extra security.

He's stayed at home though. Neither my husband nor our sons have left the house in several days. It is frightening.

LakelandDreams · 07/08/2024 14:18

Harrow is overwhelmingly BAME. White people are a minority so what are they planning? Are they bringing people in from other areas to protest? There aren't enough 'right wing extremists' living in Harrow to do anything!

stronglatte · 07/08/2024 14:21

@LakelandDreams same as Hounslow !

Royalmail100 · 07/08/2024 14:31

Not on mn no, when these things are apparently all over tick tock and x etc telegraph.

stronglatte · 07/08/2024 14:33

Royalmail100 · 07/08/2024 14:32

@stronglatte where is that??

West London/ Hounslow direction

Royalmail100 · 07/08/2024 14:36

@stronglatte thank you.
I need to go to London tomorrow I'm not sure what to do

stronglatte · 07/08/2024 14:38

@Royalmail100 I was just out and about in London and it was fine and I saw a lot of people going about their business plus tourists. It all seemed very normal

Royalmail100 · 07/08/2024 14:39

Thanks it would be coming in on public transport near hounslow

Misorchid · 07/08/2024 14:42

I don’t think prison sentences mean a thing to these thugs.
Im on a train to Berkshire from Merseyside-to stay with my DD (I live not far from the initial stabbings), in Merseyside today on the train into the city I saw young men in baseball hats, hoods over them and sunglasses, I might be wrong, but they looked the type who were not going to the art gallery…
My DDs ethnic childhood friend was treated suspiciously and in an offhand way yesterday. It upsets me as what a boon to society she is as a practising solicitor!

It's fine, I've been in and out every day this week and no issues

I'm honestly baffled that there really so many people up and down the country with this islamophobic, racist, mindless violence perspective. It's like they've all crawled out of the woodwork and I didn't realise they were there. What a let down for humanity.

I have work colleagues and neighbours that are from ethnic minorities and I can't imagine how they must be feeling right now. It's shameful.

I must live in a highly racist area as on my local FB group/page thing there are racist comments every.single.day! Look for it and it's there trust me

RubyGemStone · 07/08/2024 10:23

Walthamstow??? These people really are a new level of stupid. I notice Hackney, Peckham, Harlesden etc not on the list they want to riot aren't willing to get themselves fucked up for the 'cause'.

We are a mixed family in London and this entire thing is absolutely disgusting. Its so hard to marry this with the diversity I live in.

Hahaha 🤣 thissssss, they are bully's and are going to pick on people that are frightened.

I'm from east London born and bread, husband is from Peckham born and bred. They don't want none of this smoke!! You'll never see them coming to Hackney nor Peckham because they know they'll get f*cked up!!

Over 100 "protests" now planned for this evening apparently 😞

This is terrifying. My fear is that the momentum is now so strong that there will be smaller, spontaneous riots in areas that hadn't planned anything this evening, and there won't be a single spare police officer to respond. My DS2 works in a kebab shop in the evenings and I feel sick about him going to work. I asked him to take a few days off and he refused, he says he won't be cowed by racist thugs and if something does kick off he isn't going to leave his Muslim colleagues vulnerable. He's furious.

A big worry for you but good on your son

UneFoisAuChalet · 07/08/2024 14:00

I’m one of those solicitors at a law firm being targeted. My worry isn’t really tonight’s protest - we’ve been warned about it and measures have been taken. I’m worried about the ones we don’t know about. Are we meant to just go into work tomorrow? Everything back to normal? There’s another planned on the 14th so is that it? Riots every Wednesday night?

I hope u stay safe x

Haha! I used to live in the Camberwell/Kennington area, actually during the riots.
Ah, I remember it well and fondly.

Why they not going there then? 🤔😂

mellowfell · 07/08/2024 14:58

I live a wealthy area in central London and I'm worried that they will turn up to loot, set cars on fire and ruin shops and cafes. Whilst police and residents protect certain areas for race targeting riots, there are so many other areas in London that could be exposed for looting.

For instance Hackney would be prepared to protect but Mayfair won't be able to for any flash riots/looting

BurntBroccoli · 07/08/2024 15:06

@AngryBird6122
Yes same here - blatant racist comments. They are no longer holding back.

I am so sorry that you have to live with this sort of stress and anxiety and all because ignorant and unpleasant people feel empowered to do and say as they please. Farage, Robinson, Tice, Anderson and all the others who follow and support their views should be thoroughly ashamed. Somehow I doubt they will, they lack empathy and self reflection, that precious ability to metaphorically stand in another's shoes and think "what must this be like for the people on the receiving end of hate and violence"

Add in the right wing media Daily Fail, Express, GB News, Tate, JD Vance and now Musk. All shit stirring. All playing a role in grooming and emboldening this disgusting racism and violence.

All quiet at the moment. Police presence outside N Harrow library and at Rayners Lane. Let's hope it stays that way.

stronglatte · 07/08/2024 15:14

At least we can see the racists clearly now . I saw even one of the yoga teachers I follow on insta was liking and following some dubious accounts .. another of many WTF moments on the last few days.
