Didn't work out well for you with Brexit did it ? You are simply fuelling their anger, with your snobbish, classist, superior attitudes. This has NOTHING to do with Farage being an MP or inciting anything. It didn't happen when the Tories were in power because they were seen as trying to do something about all the illegal immigration, whereas Labour will do nothing and everyone knows it! I'm not middle class, i'm working class born and bred, And i'll call out people being thick and racist whenever i see it.

It absolutely is and it says more about you are your mentality than it does them! What do you say about all the peaceful protesters who want something done about immigration? Are they all thick and racist as well? Because at the march i saw there were plenty of black and brown faces there.

Thugs are defined as violent, aggressive people. I guess you can be intelligent and violent and aggressive although I'm struggling to name one.

Curfews don’t work like that. It has to be an area and then policed. Looking like you could cause trouble is not good enough. So curfews get the innocent too. What about those who travel in and start to rampage where there isn’t a curfew? Or do we all have a 24 hour one? It’s easy to use words but much less easy to have a policy.

We tend to complain about heavy handed police now we want indiscriminate force. We need flexible policing and we need less reporting of a few MPs. They didn’t win. Even with some form of proportional representation, they still would not win or even be the opposition. I’m glad we have first past the post. This could have been changed 14 years ago but we stuck with our system in the referendum. You get what you vote for.

What peaceful protesters? We’re talking about those who loot and use violence and arson. They’re definitely thick racists.

You're misunderstanding what Kier was saying in his speeches. He wasn't trying to pour oil on troubled water or calm people down. He was indicating that he is willing to have the British State use the full force of its coercive power to get these people off the streets and to prevent full scale ethnic conflict.

He is signalling that if these people don't get back inside their houses, today, the state is going to get a lot more heavy handed.

And he's damn right to do so.

They sound quite bad enough if we define them by their actions and utterances. What do other random smears and stereotypes add to the known facts? They're bad. They're violent. They're lawless. They're bigoted. That's plenty.

I do think one of the other threads dragged a lot of classism in and muddied the debate.

I appreciate our civil service is perhaps not quite the gold plated rolls royce that it once was but they should have seen that this tragedy was a potential tinderbox and done something stat.

I'm a white, working class man. I didn't realise I was supposed to be out on the streets setting fire to libraries, attacking mosques and getting a swastika tattoo. Is this compulsory for me? Is there some mailing list I should be on to find out this kind of thing?

This would be Keir Starmer PM for one month and one day? Who seems to be taking a very hard line indeed with the people actually pouring petrol and committing arson.

As someone who's working class I'm not calling anyone anything pejorative that they don't deserve. That said, I didn't hear any MC or UC accents around when people were chucking bricks.

Equally it wasn't the UC and sure as hell wasn't the MC who voted for Brexit.
