Friend very angry that I’m on Mounjaro

My friend is tall and willowy, never has to watch what she eats. She prides herself on being slim and the ability wear whatever she likes (tight catsuits, very short skirts etc).
Im the opposite. Short and dumpy, size 18. Desperately needing to turn the hunger button off I’ve resorted to ordering Mounjaro after a lot of reading around the subject.
Friend has hit the roof! Says that it’s cheating and a quick fix and it won’t stay off. That I should eat healthier and exercise more and that’s why I’m fat. Yes, it probably is but I don’t have her genetics either. Says she thinks it’s disgusting that people are using this quick fix etc. On and on. I’m a bit shocked and sad to be honest.
I don’t want to think Ill of her but I wonder if she’s actually worried I’ll be slim myself one day so she won’t be the slim one of the two. Anyone else had this? Don’t know what to do going forward!

Working in the fashion the things I saw in terms of how people stayed thin were certainly not healthy...

She’s not your friend lovely. Do what you need to and good luck.

I don’t really understand the attitude from your friend. I don’t like meds to solve dietary problems but I recognise not everyone can control what they eat. I don’t think it’s cheating, Side effects might be an issue like they are for many meds. I hope it works out for you and your friend einds her neck in. Meantime refuse to discuss it.

It's interesting how since the jabs have become popular so many slim people now do admit to how hard they have to work at it....

I’m slim. I work at it. I don’t bang on about it though as that would be weird.

Okay so I work hard to stay slim (I’m a size 10 and short so not any sort of supermodel!) and to be upbeat I’m finding the amount of people taking this annoying. I’ll get flamed but I don’t care. I don’t think it’s cheating - it’s a valid weight loss tool - but it’s incredible how many friends who’ve done very little to eat healthy over the years are now on this magic tool and lying about it and saying it’s “Pilates” or some such rubbish. Just to clarify most of these ladies were size 14 ish so hardly obese, just too much wine and cake. They could face lost it with bit of effort. I don’t know they are getting it tbh.

Good luck OP though - I do think your friend likes having you as a fat friend which is unkind.

Reading some comments do you really wonder why they might keep it quiet. The judgement and unrequested advice and criticism is overwhelming

It's because of people like you, that some women keep quiet about using WLI.

There is actually nothing inherently superior about 'working hard at staying slim.' If you want to restrict, martyr or punish yourself then crack on.

However, I'm all for making my life as easy as possible hence I employ a cleaner, have Gousto boxes, drive a car with power-steering, use Ubers when in London, have Keratin treatments on my hair, take Mounjaro..............and a gazillion other easy, life enhancing hacks.

How vile. Just say - I’ve not managed to cut back on my own, I have a very strong hunger signals and it’s not sustainable for me to be permanently hungry. Even if I lost with very strong willpower I’d gain it back as it’s not sustainable to go through life starving. Yes I know I will probably have to stay on the WFI at a maintenance dose for the rest of my life. Tell her how lucky she is that she doesn’t have strong hunger signals. And then say her outburst is vile, you need do to do this for your own health, and you are deeply hurt that she doesn’t value your long term health.

I don't understand that at all.

I'm naturally slim and have been all my life. I count myself very fortunate in that when I've had plenty to eat I just can't face more. If there's something that allows other people to have the same experience, I'd say 'go for it'. With the usual caveats about watching out for side effects, of course.
