I am currently wearing a summer nightie from British Home Stores.

Yesterday I was measuring a picture frame with a Woolworths ruler.

What about you?

I have a top from Racing Green I bought in 1996 and it still fits.

It's a size 12, I'm now a 16 and I use thus too as my argument against the standard argument of vanity sizing, as I actually think the opposite

I went to Germany this year, Leipzig to be exact, and it was amazing to be in a city with shops that were open.

That’s interesting. I visited friends in Germany this year and all the small town near them are full of empty shops. We went to a bigger town and it was full of places like The Range but downmarket.

GoldenLegend · 28/07/2024 08:25

My bed from Warren Evans. Still going strong, about 25 years old.

DeathMetalMum · 28/07/2024 08:26

I have a couple of things from topshop still going good. A pair of gloves and a 3/4 sleeve top.

I remember Pilot closing down where I live when I was around 13/14 and just starting to shop for clothes mostly with my own money.

Those of you who miss wilko (like I do) The Range are currently stocking their products. I'm not sure of permanent, or if they've just bought the old stock but I've seen signs on the wondow of our local store.

Coastalcreeksider · 28/07/2024 08:27

A dressing gown from Store 21 that I bought around 12 years ago. A jumper and a pair of black strappy evening shoes from BHS about the same time.
I expect there might be more items but can't think at the moment.

Lots of stuff from Past Times.

I always had lots of their jewellery, but DH was a store manager for them when we first moved in together, so an awful lot of our soft furnishings/mirrors/ornaments came from there too. Also, most of our Christmas decorations. I miss that shop!

Ooh, I envy you having been able to get bigger things from them!

Danikm151 · 28/07/2024 08:30

I have some Barrats shoes- still have the box

FourChimneys · 28/07/2024 08:32

Some lovely memories here. It is lovely to hear of so many things still going strong.

I have remembered a few more this morning. I have a shirt from Bay Trading, a board game from Past Times (loved that shop) and some Tupperware inherited from my mother.

My stapler and hole puncher are from Boots, from the long ago time they sold stationery.

Does anyone remember Boswells in Oxford? It closed a few years ago but was a treasure trove of an old fashioned department store. We would visit Oxford occasionally and the DC would beg to go. I think a lot of DS's Playmobil came from there.

Have a couple of tops from Store 21 (which started our life as QS - or Quality Seconds) which I can’t fit in at the moment but will do when I’ve lost a bit of weight.

Also have some formalwear from Jacques Vert, Coast, Monsoon and even something from Hamills

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 28/07/2024 08:37

Oh, and after seeing your most recent post, I still have a set of 4 individual/mini casserole dishes from when Boots had a kitchenware section in their bigger stores

Enko · 28/07/2024 08:37

Tops and dress. From Bravissimo. I still mourn the fact they stopped making clothing. I loved their style and it fitter so well over a larger bust.

For those of you missing Past Times have a look at Between the lines it's very similar.

Uiommpourting · 28/07/2024 08:41

I have some boots that are still going strong, bought from BHS. Is used to love that shop.

Kala1990 · 28/07/2024 08:44

My living room cushion covers are from Debenhams.

Kala1990 · 28/07/2024 08:46

Also have passport cover and a lunch bag from Cath Kidson.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 28/07/2024 08:46

BiscuityBoyle · 27/07/2024 23:51

So much stuff from Wilko. I miss Wilko.

My local Wilko has been replaced by a B&M, which I am loving!

Ginmonkeyagain · 28/07/2024 08:47

Warren Evans bed and wardrobe.

Lots of BHS towels and bed linen. Two glass vases from Woolies that look a lot more expensive than they were.

I have a good number of things from Warehouse and Oasis that are still going strong. In particular two short sleeve cotton knitted tops with false collars from Oasis that have been a key part of my work wardrobe for over 15 years. Still fit and not bobbly - unlike the black cardie I bought form M&S in April that has already bobbled badly.

I also have a lot of stuff from Finery back when it was a decent quality workwear brand, rather than part of Sainsbury's.

Mr Monkey also has a St Michael branded shirt, clearly a thing for men of a certain age.

Uiommpourting · 28/07/2024 08:48

All our cutlery and crockery came from Debenhams.

Uiommpourting · 28/07/2024 08:50

Just remembered I have towels from BHS. BHS is a shop I still really miss. They sold reasonably priced clothes that used to fit me and their home wares section was very good.

twentysevendresses · 28/07/2024 08:51

I have a beautiful red chiffon type dressing gown from La Senza that I bought for my honeymoon in 1995. I'm wearing it right now (it's my favourite) - and I've been divorced for 20 years 🤣

Danceswithweasels · 28/07/2024 08:52

I have a grater and tea towels and multiple picture frames from Woolworths. I have some bistro cutlery from Spoils, I bought it in the 80s, it was my first flat and I bought it a couple of pieces a week when I got paid.

Badburyrings · 28/07/2024 08:56

gardenmusic · 28/07/2024 08:07

Kaliko, Kew (didn't last long), Alexon, the real Jaeger (before it became M and S). Artigiano. Jaques Vert, a lovely long fitted wool coat.
My very prolific pear tree came from Woolworths closing down sale.

Oh I remember Kew. I absolutely loved that shop. Was it a Jigsaw spin off? I bought loads of clothes from there.

LondonLass61 · 28/07/2024 08:58

I've got an over sized denim jacket from BHS - saw it on an influencer's Pinterest last week and in John Lewis for £150.....
I also still use a small chest freezer from Bejam (the freezer shop before iceland).

crackfoxy · 28/07/2024 09:00

So much from wilko! I miss that shop

MightyFlorals · 28/07/2024 09:09

A beautiful long black faux suede/fur coat from St Michaels. Its black suede on the outside and soft grey & cream fur on the inside, weighs an tonne. Every winter, she comes out & everytime, she get compliments.
The quality is quite superb & I’ve never seen it replicated anywhere.

I inherited it from my late Nan. She only wore it a handful of times - my mum said she just liked to admire it!😆

gardenmusic · 28/07/2024 09:09

Badburyrings, Yes, it was described as Jigsaw's little sister!
I have a silk crinkle ankle length skirt - hard to match up with a top, as it is leaf green with tiny brown, yellow and fuchsia flowers, but it is so swirly and floaty, I love it.
