Miller and Carter Lunch….decisions decisions

Going to Miller and Carter tomorrow with a pal for the fixed price lunch. Any recommendations?

I quite fancy the steak sandwich??? Anyone tried?

And dessert, well I’d have the profiteroles, but I hate that chocolate ice cream sauce and these days restaurants use that as the dipping sauce?
Or there’s the crème brûlée or apple pie.

Not been for lunch before and I hear mixed reviews.

Any recommendations? Thank you!

Steak sandwich and the apple pie. The profiteroles are salted caramel and GRIM.

I like the burger but I feel I can get just as good elsewhere for less.

Get the 3 sides for £10 to share rather than a starter.

Not that impressed. Very chainy bog standard food. Been to several different ones cos they fit with work expenses but wouldn’t really choose to go. Sorry!

I really like the steak sandwich and I think the profiteroles are lovely!

No, I’d rather know now and prepare myself.
Then if it’s nice, that’s a bonus!

Will do!!
Thank you! Seems steak sandwich is the safest bet.

My recommendation would be to go somewhere else. Miller & Carter are an overpriced chain restaurant and the food is terrible,

HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf · 21/07/2024 21:31

Their steak is actually pretty good but everything around the steak comes straight from Brakes. I do have a fondness for the wedge salad though. So yeah, a steak for sure then apple pie is fairly hard to muck up!

Horsecalledrhubard · 21/07/2024 21:31

Can’t go elsewhere, friend has a gift voucher she wants to use.

I’ve never had anything but a mediocre meal in Miller and Carter. Is it the only option? You’d probably get better meal (cheaper) in an independent.

After this, I wish đŸ˜‚ But sadly no, friend is looking to get rid of a gift voucher. She’ll at least get her meal for free.

I've always thought it was quite overpriced and not that good, but went for lunch recently as we were gifted a voucher and I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought the lunch menu was very good value for money.

Sidebeforeself · 21/07/2024 21:33

Check if the voucher is just for them or their owning company Mitchell and Butlers - they have other restaurants

That’s quite positive!

I have heard good and bad, so perhaps it’s just how it lands on the day.

I’ll hope for a good day.

Cmon people, I’m guessing if the op is focusing so hard on this it’s a huge treat for her.

op, I am sure it will be lovely. Have what you fancy and have a brilliant time.

ebadame · 21/07/2024 21:40

STEAK

Sidebeforeself · 21/07/2024 21:40

@Sunnyandsilly Nobody is trying to spoil OPs treat..just giving their opinion. She actually said she’d rather know and prepare herself.

MartyFunkhouser · 21/07/2024 21:40

I think you can guarantee everything will be fairly ropey at best. I wouldn’t waste time perusing the menu. If you’re old enough to remember Beefeater restaurants - it’s a similar standard ie pretty awful.

Yeah I don't know why people are rubbishing it OP. Go for the steak sandwhich. I hope you love it.

Oh god đŸ˜‚

If she wants fixed price lunch, would I be rude to go rogue and just order a ribeye? Surely they can’t do a bad ribeye and salad?

OP posts:
Horsecalledrhubard · 21/07/2024 21:44

@ebadame @Sunnyandsilly thank you both. Im sure with good company and a glass of wine, it’ll be fun regardless!

You can pay a supplement to have a steak! I had a fillet, it was only small but very nice.

Sounds like a plan. I’ll do fillet steak, three sides and the apple pie by the sounds of it.
I’ll wash it down with a rose hopefully and then I think we’re going to do a little retail therapy at Cribbs Causeway!

I’m a bit gutted we can’t do Wagamama at Cribbs. That’s my normal chain restaurant of choice. No mains, just lots of yummy sides.

But I’m sure it’ll be a lovely day!
