Put the country before himself - yes, finally, but he’s done it.

Please God let my country be ok.

Tell us about the convictions. Can you list all of the counts?

Are you actually kidding? I'm not engaging with you if this is the level you're debating at.

I think that is a huge underestimation of the non-white voting population in the US. They are not puppets or fools.

I'm sure they aren't! Which is why they deserve better than Kamala Harris. We'll see.

Aside from the fact that Obama is lightning in a bottle, a once in a generation politician - brains, charisma, can talk to anyone at any level etc etc etc... He's the "right kind" of Black - i.e. half white, with European features and raised by his white family. And he's a man.

Harris has a bigger mountain to climb, regardless of her own abilities.

Yeah, what did Biden call him? Sad.

I thought it would happen this weekend, he has done the right thing and it must have been difficult for him from a personal perspective but he has put his country first. I think that this will expose Trump having the very same cognitive issues that have been such an issue with Biden. Trump forgets stuff, he rambles, he goes off at the most bizarre tangents uses very odd made up words in the way a toddler does. Debating with someone much younger who is verbally and intellectually superior will shine a spotlight on Trump. His camp must be concerned that Biden won't be standing but the cult followers who have sanitary protection glued to their ears in solidarity with their idol will not change their opinions

I’m not debating you. Do you know what Trump was convicted for doing?

HRTQueen · 21/07/2024 20:53

Good it’s time he did

sadly I think the damage is done

Kamala Harris is not half Hispanic. She is half Indian.

You're absolutely right, Lentilweaver - my mistake

Wow. OK. So, there's this thing called Google...

The ageism directed at Biden has been awful. Made worse by the fact that Trump rambles incoherently and it barely gets a mention

Emmanuelll · 21/07/2024 20:56

Trump has always talked rubbish but in 4 years, he’s aged considerably as well.

Mommybunny · 21/07/2024 20:57

Seems to be a split in senior Democratic opinion about whether or not to endorse Harris or plump for an “open process”. The Clintons and Jim Clyburn (the South Carolina Representative whose endorsement of Biden in the SC primary in 2020 electrified his campaign and powered him to the presidency) want Harris; Obama and Nancy Pelosi want a process. Will be fascinating to see how this plays out.

I bet you anything that Trump refuses to do the second debate against Harris.

Are you kidding? Trump will wipe the floor with her Confused

It was incredibly selfish to stay for so long. The Democrats are making fools of themselves firstly insisting that Biden wasn’t going anywhere and now saying that they are pumped it’s Harris. Obama hasn’t said very much either about Harris who to be is like a wet weekend.

Biden stayed far too long and his ego got in the way. He is ill and barely able to walk. He now needs to find peace and quiet.

Unless it is true that Michelle Obama will stand 😮

I’ve always thought this made sense. She appears to be an extremely popular choice.

Kamala Harris is only popular in her own state. The southern states in particular seem to like Trump-well off, white, keen on guns, male. Utterly depressing. I think he’ll be a shoe in. The democrats will (possibly?) rudderless.

Tracker1234 · 21/07/2024 20:59

Nothing to do with Biden’s age. He is ill and not capable of doing the role.

Is that you Donald?

I ve read it all on MN now.....

EsmaCannonball · 21/07/2024 21:01

Obama had gravity. He was presidential. They need to find somebody of that calibre and with his aura. I wonder if all the ambitious potentials will hold back for the sake of their own careers and wait until a run in 2028?

The last few weeks have made me rather appreciative of how our own system allows parties to be ruthless in getting rid of vote-repelling leaders.

Really the merits of otherwise of Kamala Harris are irrelevant. The prospect of Trump unleashed is so awful that the Democrats just have to care about finding a winner. It's concerning that they seem to be cheerleading for Harris by default.

It's not ageism though, his decline has been obvious and so familiar to many of us who have sadly witnessed it in relatives.

Fwiw I think Trump is not terribly far behind him on the same path.

Neither of them are fit for office.

Have you heard him talking recently? Incoherent nonsense.
