I'm pissed of. I have no right to be. There's a way out of it. I'm just being a prick. I'm also in the wrong for thinking this way.

My kids get fsm which means they are entitled to vouchers . My kids school give aldi ones 90.00 per child I have 2 at that school so it's alot of money. So i should definitely be grateful. But they are only allowing collection between 8am -1.30. On the day kids finish at 1.30pm. I was planning on bunking that day. Yes i know that's bad . I live quite away from the school I don't drive and it takes an hour to get there. Then back again. Then I have to do that again a few hours later and they don't even have lessons. They will just play etc .

So I'm pissed of that I have to get my arse out of bed ay 6.30am to get theses vouchers . Dd school does them on line .

I also feel they sort of gate keep them. One year they said collect by 2pm I was a bit late and they would not let me have them. It feels degrading as it is.

That's crap. Ours give you a choice for whatever shop you want. I always pick Sainsbury's. That's bad

Entitled much?

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 16:24

Who normally takes your children to and from school? Wouldn't they collect them for you?
(Maybe they couldn't give them last year because the office was locked up for the summer or something?)

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 16:25

@Rainbowsponge surely it makes sense for a choice so people can use the shop that's easiest for them to get too.

Comedycook · 19/07/2024 16:25

I'm really confused about the timings. Don't you have to take your kids to school and pick them up again anyway...why can't you just get them then or am I missing something?

Lots of people have to get their arse out of bed to go to work at that time every day. If you want the vouchers you’ll just have to suck it up, like everyone else has to if they want to get paid.

I am naturally a lazy procrastinator for mundane tasks, especially life admin. One thing that helps me when I have a task I don't want to do is to think of the benefit as an hourly rate. Cleaning the bath would cost about 20 mins for our cleaner to do it so that's about £6, I've "saved" £6 by doing it.

Your hourly rate on the school run next week will be massive, £180 for 2 hours "work", definitely worth getting up for 😄

Don't bother then if they're more trouble than they're worth.

fouryace · 19/07/2024 16:28

Why would the school be paying for children's food in the holidays?

Do they pay for food at weekends too?

Don't you get them from the council via letter and a QR code? I've never heard of them being given out at the school.

Because @Itsonme67 was planning on not taking them to school at all that day as it’s a half day I presume.

SomeoneelsessFault · 19/07/2024 16:33

I imagine that the exact reason they have given that collection widow, is to encourage people in for the last half day. Attendence figures are shocking across schools currently, and they are being encouraged to try all and any ways to get kids in. Fridays and end of terms are particular issue areas for attendance.

You might be annoyed, but it makes complete sense and, actually, if it causes you to bring your children in for their last day, is working as intended (I very strongly suspect). I am going to suggest this to our attendance officer; don't know why we don't already do it!

Yes because it's 2hrs travel for the morning school run. Them 2hrs for the afternoon
