That's it really. I'm a loner and will be diarising here - about little things I'm up to. Not sure anyone in the world would be interested. But it is what it is.

What have you been up to this morning?

abracadabra1980 · 16/07/2024 20:42

I'm interested as I can sometimes fantasise about being reclusive. Do you always wish to be away from society?

Serencwtch · 16/07/2024 20:45

Im interested. I'm a deliberate loner.

allaloneandlost · 16/07/2024 21:02

I'm an interested loner, please do.

Shrewsbury247 · 16/07/2024 21:04

I love to know what people get up to, please share your day with us 😍

I’m married with DC but am a natural loner. I need my alone time, both inside & outside the home. I’d love to know what you get up to,

lonersjargon · 18/07/2024 22:01

Hello all. You must be wondering if I dropped off the earth's edge (assuming the earth is flat). Apologies I've just been detached from my phone and just remembered I made a post 2 days ago!

What have you been up to this morning?

On Tuesday morning, I was working on a presentation that my colleague will take the glory for because I'm shying away from the spotlight :)
What have you been up to?

I'm a functional loner. People think I have friends and families, but I do not. My phone never really rings and I don't have strong social ties.
I do find society overwhelming but I go out and do my performances to pay my bills and hurry back home because I find social interactions mentally draining. When I'm not home, I'm thinking of home.
When I'm around people, I feel disconnected and invisible. I feel that the world can do with or without me. No one would notice.

Hi! What's motivated you to be a deliberate loner? I'm curious.

Great that you have family. Alone time is still essential regardless.Flowers

Today, I've been at work events all-day. That's like a month's human interaction compressed into a day for me. Im now mentally drained and have taken the whole of next week off to recover.
Came back home and saw a letter from HMRC informing me that I might owe them money. I literally said to myself 'this never ends; the world can't just leave me alone'

Can I join you? Today I've mostly been recovering from socialising with my family yesterday. Lying on my bed watching Gilmore Girls. I cooked for my partner who has been working all day. This evening I've been doing some hand sewing and eating chocolate on my own.

What job do you do? I'm surprised you seem to work in a field where you go to events, was that a conscious choice to kind of 'force' yourself to be around people?

Yes please! Sounds like you're having a great time with yourself. Nothing beats chocolate 😊

@Nocturna I'm an educator. Ive used to do a job that allowed me work from home permanently, so yes, taking up this job was a conscious decision to make me engage with the world a bit more.

Hi! What's motivated you to be a deliberate loner? I'm curious.

I just feel better in my own company & enjoy things more if I do them on my own. Enjoy the freedom to do what I want.

Mairzydotes · 19/07/2024 06:47

I'm quite the loner too. I'm rarely alone , but I don't have any connections with people outside my household. My life is like a permanent lockdown bubble.

I joined mumsnet so I could release my thoughts into the world because I never get to have conversations with other people.

I completely relate to you!
MN allows me to be involved in people's lives in the way that I couldn't in real life. I have also been watching certain people's YouTube channels for over a decade now and consider them as my friends who keep me company without demanding anything of me, but of course they don't know me 😊

Same. Other people have controlled me, used and let me down. I've never had a family life or people who just wanted me. It's hard but I can't be bothered to make the effort anymore other than being superficial to keep things pleasant because I know how it's going to go.

I'm sorry this has been your experience. It's been mine too. I used to be the centre of my family and friends and was really used and hurt and overtime I became withdrawn to choosing to be by myself. Sending you a big hug.🤗
