That's it really. I'm a loner and will be diarising here - about little things I'm up to. Not sure anyone in the world would be interested. But it is what it is.

I tried putting bird seed out for the plants one year. It just went mouldy and I never saw a bird near it!

Oh golly! My seeds are still there. No birds yet and it's just Day2 😃

I’m sure the birds will come, maybe they haven’t spotted the bird feeder yet.

Thank you for the encouragement.
I painted the house red. I was hoping that'd make it very visible 😅

Loner here too. Been introverted all my life. I live alone, no partner, no kids, some friends who I don't see often, no family, chronic ill health, have a dog and cat and basically live a very simple life. I like to read and often go to the local library. I enjoy cooking when I'm in the mood.

Hello! I'm sorry you've got your health to do with. Sending you lots of hugs. Great you've got your flurries - those are family too. I enjoy reading too and love spending time in the local library too. Glad you have the little joys.Flowers

Going out to buy glossy white paint. I want to paint my skirting boards. Have no clue what I'm doing. Just winging it.

Probably too late, but I wouldn't go for gloss as it goes yellow in sunlight and looks a bit dated these days. I'd get satin or eggshell.
But either way I'm sure it'll look great! Use masking tape to protect the carpet!

lonersjargon · 25/07/2024 20:17

@Cavalierchaos Not too late at all! I went to the store but did not get anything. Found the paint aisle overwhelming and did not want to speak to a staff member for help so decided to come back home and do some online research and buy online.
Thank you for the advice - really helpful!

Ah I love this thread. I love mundane chat but worry mine is too boring. You wouldn't know but also a loner.

I'm nursing a migraine and will be trying to sleep soon.

Hello fellow loners, I've just spent 6 days recovering from 3 days of seeing family. Feeling more like myself again with gardening. We had hundreds of starlings (fledglings love suet balls) over May & June but they all seem to have departed. I think you get fewer birds in gardens at this time of year. Also it does takes ages for birds to find your feeder & put it on their internal map. Patience is the key!

I do all my woodwork in Brilliant White with a satin finish. I think it looks really smart. I wouldn't research too much because all the different options and colours might give you a headache! Keep it simple.

@Cavalierchaos Your recommendation's reassuring. I've ordered Brilliant White with a Satin finish now. Thanks!

Thanks @lonersjargon it did indeed go. How's it going?

I'm quite tired. Was out at an event with extreme socialising. Was really good and have had a sleep so need to do stuff soon. I always find after socialising I have a big crash after.

Bless you. I'm the same. Hope you have recharged.
I've been busy painting my skirting boards the past few days. Yesterday, I went to lunch with a work colleague and then went to dinner with a a mate from school. And I have now crashed and trying to recharge too.
I want to go out to enjoy the sun today but I just can't. Hopefully tomorrow.

This loner went to the beach this afternoon...alone naturally! Seeing people with kids only makes me feel relieved that I live a peaceful life. I had a couple of short conversations with people nearby but otherwise soaked up the sun and read my book.

Beach, sun, and books. Love it. Sure you had a great time. Well done you!

I've been painting the past few dates. Ended up painting my entire flat and I feel proud of my work. It's made me fall in love with my home again. The goal now is to keep this a secret from my landlord as long as possible as each time the flat looks slightly better, he increases the rent and threatens to readvertise it if I don't comply 😅

Today, I'm back to the gym after taking months off indoor exercise. I'll see how it goes!

Hello, another loner here. Been very let down by people over the years and don't have the energy for it anymore. I enjoy being at home with my cat, not having to accommodate other people's selfishness, or outdoors, alone on some beautiful deserted trail.

What colour(s) did you paint your flat?

I have to go to a hospital appointment this afternoon. I'm not looking forward to it because it usually involves waiting a long time and possibly having a camera up my nose. The hospital is very new though so at least I will be waiting in pleasant surroundings.

@lonersjargon its amazing how some paint can change the look and feel of a home at relatively low cost! Well done for doing a good job 😊

Similar here although I've always been introverted.

I also have a cat...plus a dog. Wonderful companions, who needs people when you have animals.

Good luck at the hospital. A camera up your nose sounds horrible. I had an endoscopy but was sedated for it.

I also relate t0 crashing after socialising. I have chronic ill health but I was like it even before I became ill. I have limited energy these days.

I wouldn't describe myself as a total loner....I have a partner, DC, a small family who I love to spend time with. I also have friends but don't see them a huge amount mainly down to distance and people being busy. I absolutely love being alone. I really crave it. Dh WFH full time and I massive struggle with the lack of alone time. It's also school holidays so kids are home all the time too. Once the kids are in bed, I sit on my own in the bedroom while dh watches TV. I need to sit by myself to recharge. I honestly thought everyone was like this but I remember chatting to my very extrovert friend and she said "why would anyone want to be alone"
