I’ve woken up to my right buttock being absolutely black and blue

And I don’t know why?!

I did no activities last night. I haven’t fallen out of bed. I didn’t fall over at all yesterday. It’s just randomly bruised and it’s bloody sore

Could you have fallen out of bed and got back in all in your sleep?

Nope. Currently sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Bed frame broke and i need to get a new one

Have you been unusually groggy in the morning at all? Any other unexplained pains or marks? Is it possible DH's "sexsomnia" has acquired an ambulatory component?

Conkered · 13/07/2024 15:44

Does the mattress have any broken springs?

Are you like me and bruise yellow and not very visibly at first, with it going purple a few days later? I often have little bumps as I’m clumsy then forget about them and a bruise becomes obvious a few days later

No. And we sleep separately. I promise you he didn’t do it

Were you on the bed when the frame broke?

lawnseed · 13/07/2024 15:46

Did you bump yourself when the bed became broken?

You must have bumped yourself and immediately forgotten about it. It happens all the time then people develop bruises and have to think back to when they knocked themselves. Maybe during the night?

WetBandits · 13/07/2024 15:46

Oooo ouch!

Do you have a new bag by any chance? My mum was utterly convinced I was being beaten up at school and lying about it because I had a MASSIVE bruise on my thigh, until we realised that my new schoolbag was repeatedly bashing my leg (it didn’t hurt until it was bruised!)

LiterallyOnFire · 13/07/2024 15:47

Get your bloods done. Just to be safe.

ZekeZeke · 13/07/2024 15:48

That's not a fresh bruise. The colouring is clearly black. It's a few days old.
Rough sex, he grabbed your bum a few days/perhaps even a week back?

BobbyBiscuits · 13/07/2024 15:49

Are you sure your husband didn't get into bed and try it on and end up causing it? You say he has 'sexsomnia' so is it not possible he could come into your room/bed? I'm not saying he did it on purpose, but I don't see how it could've happened without some sort of trauma? Otherwise do you have a dog that could've jumped on you?

Soubriquet · 13/07/2024 15:50

No. Bed frames been broken for nearly a year. It just isn’t a priority for me to get a frame when the mattress is fine. I haven’t had sex for a couple of months.

The top of my bum has been hurting for a couple of weeks but this is the first time any bruising has come up. I definitely did not bang it

That's a bit like my hulahooping experience!

henlake7 · 13/07/2024 15:50

You probably bashed it somehow and forgot about it. It always seems like the most minor knocks give you the biggest bruises and the stuff that really hurts barely bruises at all!

I wouldnt worry unless you get more unexplained bruising.

He sleeps downstairs. And the dogs sleep down there too. And despite the sleeping meds, I would have woken up if he came in the room. He definitely didn’t

My husband had something similar on his arm recently. His whole arm turned purple and it was incredibly painful. He claimed not to know how he did it at first, but then admitted it might have been something to do with turning over a car to get the exhaust off. He had torn something but I can't remember if it was a ligament or a muscle. It took a long time to heal, but he is 72, which won't have helped.

Kovus · 13/07/2024 15:55

Do you have an i-phone? I have heard that sleeping next to an Apple that is bruised can lead to a spreading of the bruise to its neighbour.

BuffysBigSister · 13/07/2024 15:56

A few weeks ago I woke up with a black eye. Looked like someone punched me but it didn't hurt and I do live alone. I went to the doctor & optician and they couldn't find anything wrong. Did blood tests etc. The consensus is I must have somehow scratched/poked my eye in my sleep. Would definitely go to the doctor to get checked out

Just keep an eye on it OP and 111/see a Dr if you're worried.

Thanks. I’ll keep an eye. I will admit I bruise easily. I have bruises everyday but none as big or bright as this

Could there be anything in your bed you could have been laying on during the night.
I got a nasty ‘mystery’ bruise once that turned out to be from sleeping on a dog toy

I had another particular bad one from a heavy bag bouncing against my leg while I was walking. Didn’t really hurt at the time but left a massive bruise that did hurt like a bugger

Thatcat · 13/07/2024 16:01

It does look a few days older, OP. I it’s yellowing. Do you carry a heavy rucksack on your back and walk a lot? I remember getting bruises in the same place, recurring and unexplained. Turned out it was my heavy Bach of books hitting off the top off my lower back when I walked.
