I’ve woken up to my right buttock being absolutely black and blue

And I don’t know why?!

I did no activities last night. I haven’t fallen out of bed. I didn’t fall over at all yesterday. It’s just randomly bruised and it’s bloody sore

This is my butt. It has gotten blacker in some areas but this was taken first thing this morning

Do you live alone?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/07/2024 15:18

I'd go to a Walk In if I were you. Unexplained bruising isn't a good thing.

No but I’m 100% positive that no one in my family did it

I once woke up to a deep, dark bruise on my hip. No trauma, nothing to explain it
I ended up seeing the gp as it was there for over a week but he just dismissed it as nothing. It faded as suddenly as it appeared 😵‍💫

Needanewname42 · 13/07/2024 15:24

Could you have fallen and blacked out?
Were you sober last night, no chance you've falled under the influence and not remember?

I think I'd take the advice above and seek medical help.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 13/07/2024 15:25

Spider bite?

Nope. And I don’t drink. Haven’t in 9 years

You haven't fallen or bumped yourself even 2/3 days ago or a table or chair or something?

I think you should call NHS Direct for advice

Buffypaws · 13/07/2024 15:28

call 111. Does it hurt?

PortiasBiscuit · 13/07/2024 15:28

Are you alive? Might be livor mortis?

Ack. You got it!! I’m dead. Grin

no I haven’t fallen over the last few days. And yes it hurts. It’s really sore

An MPB maybe? I regularly suffered from them in my 20s (mystery party bruise).

Cardencallr · 13/07/2024 15:35

You do need to see your gp to rule out the more serious illnesses than can cause unexplained brusing.

BobandRobertaSmith · 13/07/2024 15:35

It looks purple brown with yellow around the edges in the photo. That would suggest the blood has lost oxygen and is starting to break down so it’s not fresh. Maybe 2-5 days old? Possibly even longer? Did you bash yourself earlier in the week?

TossieFleacake · 13/07/2024 15:37

Have you been itchy?
I only ask because I occasionally get really random itches on my bum or thighs, give them a really good scratch and the next day I am very heavily bruised, very like your photo.

lawnseed · 13/07/2024 15:37

If it hurts then that indicates it's from an injury. Spontaneous bruising wouldn't hurt I don't think.

Are you sure you haven't bumped into something? Nobody's clunked you one? Do you take any sleeping medication? Do you have a partner, could they have kicked you in their sleep?

LookItsMeAgain · 13/07/2024 15:38

Do you snore? Could this be the result of a partner nudging you to sleep in a different position?

Easipeelerie · 13/07/2024 15:40

Could you have fallen out of bed and got back in all in your sleep?

I was just about to say the same, it's not fresh so think back beyond yesterday. I think it's normal to shake off a knock then bruise later. My friend banged her leg on the stair-gate, it was a 'fuck' then we had coffee 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3 days later the entire top of her leg was black!

I think you may have slept on a pea. Check under the bottom of the mattresses 😉

Soubriquet · 13/07/2024 15:41

I sleep alone. Dh gets handsy(sexually. He has sexsomnia)whilst asleep so we have to sleep alone.

it definitely wasn’t there yesterday. I have woken up to it. Yes I take sleeping medication but no I didn’t fall over or bang it on anything

I once gave myself horrific bruises all down my thighs from hula hooping (badly!) with a cheap weighted hulahoop Grin I didn't notice them for days!
