27 (mother) & 30 (father), in the 80's. They had my sibling 20 months later.
I believe at the time the doctor my mother saw when she thought she was pregnant with me commented on her age as he felt she was on the older side!

When I had DD1 in the early 90s, my NCT class had several women who had undergone multiple rounds of IVF before a pregnancy that had got to 32 weeks. Not one of them was over 25 and there was a minimum two year's wait before the local GPs would refer for fertility investigations, never mind actually having IVF. So they'd been married, tried for two years, got referred and waited for the appointment, then had multiple tests and procedures, then 3+ attempts (and gone through a lot of it again when they'd gone private after the 3rd try), all by 25.

It's unbelievable to think of now, I have seen people on here saying 25 is 'far too young' to even be thinking about children!

20 (DM) and 21 (DF) in 1980. Unplanned and therefore a wedding at 3months. Married for 17 years until DF had an affair.

yeesh · 14/07/2024 20:20

Both 26, I’m the eldest

Echo21 · 14/07/2024 23:22

38 and 48 (dad who remarried). This was in the late 80s and seen as almost taboo to have children that late. Everyone thought my dad was my grandpa back then

it's fine to be an older parent and almost the norm in major cities nowadays but being an only child has been extremely difficult as I now have no blood family apart from dd

1970's Dad 39 Mum 33.
Definitely older than all my friends parents

Yeah, my mum was 34 and my dad was 41 when I was born in the mid seventies. It was considered a positively ancient age to be having babies back then.
