So similar to me!

Also had really old grandparents, how about you? They reached 100 when I was early twenties!

MissyB1 · 11/07/2024 20:56

mum was 42, dad was 58! Both passed away now, I am the youngest of six.

Youngest of 6 here too Missy!👋
42 & 30 😬

Huifen · 12/07/2024 09:30

Both 33 but I was their third - they were 27 and 29 when they had my siblings

DontGetMeStartedOnThatAgain · 12/07/2024 09:31

Mum was 36, Dad 40. I was the last one of 4 children

bfrgggdsryvfg · 12/07/2024 09:33

19 and 26

*edited because I miscounted the difference in our ages.

40 and 46 🙄😔 Therefore I lost one of them when I was still young. So selfish

Are you saying you would rather have not been born? Because you wouldn’t exist at all if they had chosen different ages to have children.

NChangenowp · 12/07/2024 09:54

24 and 28.

WaitingForMojo · 12/07/2024 10:08

Mum 27 (same age I was when I had my first)
Dad about 30.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 12/07/2024 10:16

24

MissTrip82 · 12/07/2024 10:18

25 and 50.

TorroFerney · 12/07/2024 10:24

29 and 30. I was a mistake though which may account for them being older than most parents at the time (born in 1972). My mum got pregnant again in 1983 but had a termination.

aintnospringchicken · 12/07/2024 12:38

Mum 28
Dad 31
I have a sibling 4 years older than myself

Similar here - 38 and 48, when I was born as an only child in the 70’s. Both dead before I was 24…That’s the reason I didn’t want to be over 30 when my DC were born. I still now in my 50’s wish they’d been around for longer.
It’s all very well having babies at 40 but it’s not always easy on the child, losing a parent is obviously possible at any age, but the older you get the worse your chances!

Unless they knew that they were going to die, it’s hardly selfish.
No on could have predicted my SIL dying at 46 leaving her 12 year old daughter. She was one of the most selfless people I have ever known.

Bonjovispjs · 12/07/2024 15:59

27 and 30, but had 4 more kids before me.

Possumly · 12/07/2024 16:16

I agree with you, @DoAClassicCamel
Sad to see people calling their parents selfish, assuming only based on their age of having their children. They are hardly very old ages mentioned!
My dad was 37 when i was born (their 3rd and last child). I lost my dad when I was turning 27 (my 27th birthday was 6 days after his death). He went way too soon, after years-long battle to cancer at the age of 64. I've never felt angry at him for not having me earlier (or perhaps never having me, since I was number 3!). I had a great childhood and upbringing, which is the most important thing, surely.

Cooroo · 12/07/2024 17:14

I was a late child but love my big sisters so much and wouldn't change my parents (long dead now) for anything.

CremeEggThief · 13/07/2024 10:36

VerySadCase · 11/07/2024 23:00

The average age of mothers giving birth in 1970 was 27. There would have been plenty of younger mums so there must have been plenty of older mums as well.

My maternal grandmother was 31 when my mum was born back in the 1940s (and she had a younger sibling as well).

My paternal grandmother was 38 when my dad was born back in the 1930s - she would have been 30 when her first child arrived.

And? All I am talking about is my own experience... not sure why you're so surprised at my astonishment, to be honest.

WorkCleanRepeat · 13/07/2024 10:41
