40 and 45. They'd had the three they planned but the youngest was killed in a car accident, so I was a late addition.

Dad was 27, mum 33. She already had 4 kids. They'd been together 5 years before I came along. I didn't quite realise what a mammoth thing that was until I turned 27. The idea of being a step parent to 4 at the age of 22, and then essentially a parent or 5 by 27...woah!!

Sounds fine, but I was the accident of a new relationship that didn't last. As was the 1st at 17/34 and the second at 18/34. And the unwanted 4th at 25/42. But she was married for all of those, so it was perfectly OK then, apparently. 3rd was unsurprisingly, the Golden Child as he was the only one that was actually wanted.

My mum was 27 and my dad was 30.

30 and 35, which I think was probably quite old for the late 70s. I was their only child, though my dad had my half brother when he was 19/20.
