What’s your favourite cocktail?

Just for fun. Dd and I are slowly working our way through some popular ones but our favourite so far has got to be the humble spicy margarita.
Also do you have any superb recipes for them? This evening we made mint juleps and caipirinha and both we okay.
i bought good quality spirits, not cheap ones but there is definitely an art to mixology!!

I've never in my life had a cocktail! I wouldn't have a clue what to ask for or what I might like, so whenever I find myself in a pub I always just have carbonated water to drink. I know where I am with that! 😂

I take it you don’t drink whatsoever if you’re ordering sparkling water in a pub?

Caipirinha or caipiroska
Paloma
Margarita
Mojito

Definitely none of the sweet and sticky ones!

AcrossthePond55 · 10/07/2024 19:48

Lucky Cat
Pink Cadillac
Bay Breeze
Cuba Libre but made with Sailor Jerry

Woo woo. Our local was offering one free and it was lovely. I believe some supermarkets sell them in a tin but have been unable to find one.

ForgettingMeNot · 10/07/2024 19:51

Long Island Iced Tea

RookieMa · 10/07/2024 19:51

I love a Cosmopolitan or a whiskey sour

Holidaaaaay · 10/07/2024 19:52

Years ago I had some raspberry mojitos, they were absolutely amazing but I haven't ever seen them again! Don't go out much tbf! Just been in holiday and had a few Tom Collins, very nice.

AuntieMarys · 10/07/2024 19:53

Neroni, martini or corpse revivor 2

RookieMa · 10/07/2024 19:53

I meant a Margarita

Definitely not a Cosmopolitan

Chardonnay73 · 10/07/2024 19:59

Margarita. Not spicy but with a really salty rim
Espresso Martini
Pina Colada
Something to do with white chocolate and vodka that I had in the Maldives.. utter bliss in a glass …
For all of these, the real deal, not cheap pre-made shite.

If you don't mind it strong, a fave in this house is a Caipirinha

Cachaça, sugar, lime and lots & lots of ice!

Takes us back to sunny days in Rio!

Cachaça can be hard to come by in UK shops but Amazon will sort you out 😁

Anothersolotrip · 10/07/2024 20:04

A Bramble - gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and creme de mure

Nearlyroses · 10/07/2024 20:05

A margarita, salt rim - so rare to find a good one.

CrushingOnRubies · 10/07/2024 20:05

Margarita if it's sunny
Or a French 75 or cosmopolitan if it's not

Chatterboxy · 10/07/2024 20:05

theapo · 10/07/2024 20:05

Teacherprebaby · 10/07/2024 20:15

Spicy marg or Caipirinia

cloudy477654 · 10/07/2024 20:17

I love an aperol spritz

SkankingWombat · 10/07/2024 20:25

Negroni, but only in Winter and I like to top mine up with half a mixer-sized can of clementine tonic water.

Caipirinha or caipiroska, although they are over too quickly.

Frozen margarita - delicious but lethal. I had the best one (or possibly more than one 😬) in a Mexican bar down a side street in Bilbao served from a slushy machine. It was the sort of dangerous that goes down incredibly easily and you don't realise the damage until you stand up to go to the loo after a couple of rounds and some tapas to find your legs don't work anymore. These were so good I have seriously considered buying a slushy machine in an attempt to recreate it.

Long Island Iced Tea.

Singapore Gin Sling.

Pina Colada, but not the bizarre concoction I was served in Kuala Lumpur that swapped coconut milk out for cows' milk 🤢 That was a surprise upon drinking of the worst kind...

Vinto de verano for a refreshing long drink in the heat. I make mine with red wine, red vermouth, a squeeze of lime and bitter lemon.

And finally: I'm not sure what it's called, but a non-spicy gin, sugar syrup and fresh lime juice, topped with tonic. A nice summery change from a standard G&T.

jolenethea · 10/07/2024 20:26

I've not tried many, but do enjoy a mojito

I think the last one is a Gin Fizz. Also one of my favourites, but I prefer it with grapefruit juice (garnished with a grapefruit slice and (crucially) a sprig of rosemary.

Alternatively, whisky sour or a french 75.

I also had a delicious cocktail involving smoked mezcal but I got roaring drunk and have no memory of any of the other ingredients.

Nomorebeer22 · 10/07/2024 20:33

Long Island Iced Tea is the only one I actually like.
