But it can’t. No man has a cervix. He can get his or us inverted & make a hole that is effectively a wound that will need to be continually dilated to remain open. . It’s not vagina& it isn’t possible to create a cervix. A cervix to where exactly?

Yes. As I said, he’s wrong. It’s people saying he’s dogmatic about it I criticised. He said something wrong. In fact it appears that in his parliamentary career of over 20 years he’s said two wrong things (I assume this because people always raise the same two). Calamity! How stupid to be wrong twice this century.

And you think that her new report will be an easier read? are they going to dumb it down for her?
It will be the same complexities as ALL the other regularly produced reports on public finances.
And I am not scared what it will show, it will show what we ALL already know, the country is spending too much and NOT taxing enough to pay for the services that people expect, it will show we are borrowing £150 billion a year still and that the Tories should NOT of been cutting taxes and NI for votes.

Interesting that you talk about ‘dumbing down’ when you use ‘of’ instead of ‘have’

Lammy was the first Black Briton to attend Harvard Law School, where he did his masters. He's worked in some big US law firms, and taught at the University of London.

What's your criteria for "not thick"?

👏👏👏👏👏👏

were like dinosaurs, hoarding their rights.

I struggle to understand why he thinks that women don't have the right to hoard their rights?

Would he say this about race based rights, or disability rights or gay rights?

What is the purpose of rights if not to use and protect them?

Why should women be chastised for this?

Exactly. It was a ridiculous and misogynistic thing to say

Eh?
You can call any part of your body something its not?
I am typing this with my 2 penises (aka hands)

If that's what you want to call them, knock yourself out!

noblegiraffe · 10/07/2024 13:58

Lammy got more than 50% of the votes cast in his constituency

That’s terrifically interesting. But what relevance does it have?

Quite a lot for all the people whining about him on here.

Even though they hate him the majority of his constituents think the opposite

samedifferent · 10/07/2024 14:03

It was but I don't think anyone has ever lost their job for that.

I do think he will be a poor senior statesman but as he is representing the UK I will be content to be proven wrong.

Events usually undo politicians and it's hard to say where they will fall.

IClaudine · 10/07/2024 14:07

absquatulize · 10/07/2024 13:36

I just think it is a shame that we have not had an election in the UK where there has been the opportunity to express whether we think these things are important or not.

I feel sure the current Labour government would not survive such an election, given its failure to hate trans women enough.

Yeah good on him for that but he thinks biological males can grow a cervix so whatever his academic qualifications I still think he's pretty thick.

While I’m not sure who will be the first to bite the dust, I don’t think Starmer will last the full 4-5 years as leader. Nor Rayner where she currently is because she clearly wants to be leader.

Edited

Odd that she stood for Deputy Leader when she had an opportunity to try for leader then, don’t you think?
On what basis do you think she ‘clearly’ wants to be leader?

Except, as has been pointed out, that isn’t what he said. Now who looks a bit thick?

dutysuite · 10/07/2024 14:11

I used to like Rayner but the more I’ve seen of her over the years the more I see that she’s just a puppet on a string being told what to say and do. She’s out of her depth. I can’t stand Miliband or Lammy.

She didn’t stand. She was elected by Labour Party members including myself.

We think she’s great. Fantastic for pissing off Tory voters.

Lammy obviously didn't do biology at Harvard

Gosh, no one has mentioned that yet!

Plus he didn't say that. He basically got some of his terminology mixed up when trying to describe the surgery some trans women have. Daft mistake but then lots of people probably don't have a clear idea of what exactly is involved.

I don't hate trans women.
Saying trans women aren't biological women doesn't mean I hate them.

I simply believe in biology and that the biological differences between men and women aren't erased just because you identify as a women.

Oooh. Someone has a chip on their shoulder.

Not really. Labour governments have to be twice as competent as a Tory government to be considered competent. At least.

A lot like women have to be twice as good as men to be considered good.

As for Lammy, I doubt he actually thought Marie Antoinette invented radium, he probably knew Marie Curie discovered it and just mixed up the names.

Why does Angela Rayner get such a hard time?

I think some on MN find it disconcerting that someone can do so well without the trappings they consider essential to success, especially formal education.

I'm a big fan of education, I'm a university lecturer and I think education opens so many doors but I don't think it's the only way to success, just the easiest one.

Here's a woman who had a baby as a teenager, left school without any qualifications, speaks with the "wrong" regional accent (all accents are regional but some people seem to forget that!) and she's risen to Deputy Prime Minister. Some seem unhappy that she hadn't done that the conventional way, and doesn't try to hide where she came from.

Yes. I know. I’m a Labour member and I saw her speak at hustings. She’s fab. She stood for deputy not leader, as I said. Odd behaviour if she wanted to be leader.
