And how soon" competition.

My money's on David Lammy by February.

Has anyone mentioned Harvard yet?

It's certainly cropped up!

BIossomtoes · 11/07/2024 18:40

Oh dear. Some people really don’t cope with change well. 😂

If that’s to me, I’m just pointing out the absurd sycophancy about Labour that’s stinking up the place even more than usual. It’s never a good look, and is a terrible hostage to fortune, to behave like a groupie towards a political party.

Defending Starmer from someone who says he looks like a kid about to wet himself or pointing out all the good things they’ve set in motion isn’t sycophancy. Do you have any substantive criticism?

cardibach · 11/07/2024 18:49

FinalCeleryScheme · 11/07/2024 18:35

Oh, shit, I think people are forgetting that the regiment of angels has descended to put their arms around us and free us from poverty, disease and nasty habits of mind. Thank you so much for reminding us about the absence of any selfishness, venality or dishonesty in Labour.

I will now go back to the thread where someone’s posting North Korean-worthy photographs of Archangel Starmer and drop to my knees in admiration.

🙄

Nobody has said anything remotely similar to this. Grow up. If you have any serious criticisms of the government’s first 6 days, go for it.
Here’s mine - apparently they didn’t speak to Rwanda before cancelling the plan. They should have. Silly mistake.
Still minor in comparison to the last 6 years or so, but there you go.

Absolute rubbish. No one’s absurdly sycophantic and we’re well aware that they aren’t perfect. What I do find odd is the minimal criticism of the Tories and their record. The constant ‘Tories know what a woman is’, like fuck they do…
The almost immediate mockery and fibs about a minister who’s not actually done owt wrong yet. The single issue obsession and guffawing amongst yourselves about how thick David Lammy is (which I suspect is purely because he’s a person of colour, although you’ll deny it).
Don’t worry you’ll get your chance to crow I’m sure 😂

Alfreddoeblin · 11/07/2024 19:10

And fwiw most rational folk would be quite happy to see the back of the tories.
The absolute state of the UK is unforgivable.
No one’s saying North Korean levels of adulation but why on earth would you want to take the piss when they’ve not actually done anything wrong yet ?
It takes a weird miserly kind of poster to be hoping things go tits up for the country doesn’t it and actually want to end up with a joker like Farage. Most people I know and comments I’ve heard in the media are pleasantly surprised about some of their ideas, even life long Conservatives. Tories have had their chance and blew it.

EUmumforever · 11/07/2024 19:13

This is a nasty, vindictive thread full of class-obsessed comments. OP and others clearly miss chaos and want new government to fail.

WickedSerious · 11/07/2024 19:16

PrimalLass · 11/07/2024 18:13

Ed Milliband for pissing off Scotland today re oil.

I had no idea he was still a thing.

BIossomtoes · 11/07/2024 19:18

I think there are people who miss the psychodrama and chaos and would like to see it back. They don’t seem to understand the sheer relief some of us feel to have a competent government again after so many years of turmoil.

Really? He’s been shadow front bench and made several good speeches. He’s an excellent politician - better since he stopped being leader.

Just a reminder that the UK is in a state as a result of Labour and SNP Govts too. The Tories haven’t been the only incompetent Govts of the last decade.

10 education secretaries in 13 years must also be a record.

13 university secretaries. Please prove me wrong about Jacqui Smith....

True.

O pity us Lefties, Tory lovers. We've been subject to so much starry-eyed sycophancy, and misguided adulation of the Blond Beast and his acolytes, from the wonderful example you've all set us over the last few years -FOURTEEN of them - that we've unconsciously absorbed some of your less desirable habits when regarding our political masters. I expect we will all get over it a lot more quickly than you. Relax. Enjoy your redundancy.🍺 Long may it last.

‘Labour run Wales’ is fine thanks. Don’t believe the propaganda

I’m generally happy with them, though more inclined to Plaid really. They haven’t been incompetent though.
