Nude coloured leggings!!!!

I always have to double take. Why would you want to look naked from the waist down?!

Illegally18 · 09/07/2024 23:23

Something that has long got me is seeing women walking down the street in skirts or dresses which are unlined or no petticoat/slip, so that the dress clings and outlines their thighs and crotch. It's so unbecoming. The dresses are often so pretty and ruined by this detail.

Also seen several older women with their hair dyed bright blue, not a flattering colour on an older face.

captainsudoku · 10/07/2024 13:27

I always wear a slip under skirts and dresses Illegally18 but some of them still cling, especially if they are made out of thinner viscose.

@illegally18 the 50's are calling, they want you back.
What age range wear a slip? I haven't heard of this in years, I think my grandmother wore one in the 90s.

JaneJeffer · 10/07/2024 15:38

I don't like being expected to pay for jeans that aren't even hemmed. What's that about?

NOTthisOldchestnut · 10/07/2024 15:40

Scorchio84 · 09/07/2024 20:38

Yep up there with Crocs...
Nude leggings&/or top
sliders & socks
flares, I've never got on with them, too short & dumpy

They suit people with the right body type though, like anything it is subjective.

The centre parting with long flat hair (sometimes with little wavy bits at the ends). Almost every female person between 13 and 60 has had this same boring style since around 2012. Centre partings are really not flattering for most faces. Time for a change.

Also - those huge false eyelashes that make women look like dolls (maybe that's the point?). Disturbing.

I take you haven’t thought about the fact that a huge proportion of people in the UK simply have a natural middle parting and straight hair? I shall change my DD’s genetics just to please you..

Which hair style do you have? I'm genuinely interested. I think it will be good for women with the style you mention to consider a "none boring" style.

😂 you just have to wear what suits you don't you? Styling your hair to be different isn't necessary a good look on some. Maybe the pp can't pull off a middle parting.

Me - Just below shoulder length, side parting with a few shorter bits around the face. Not very interesting or radical at all, but not a centre parting. I'm just so tired of seeing centre partings on every woman, and genuinely don't think they look good, especially not with long faces, high foreheads, very round faces. Even on beautiful faces the hair obscures the cheekbones and emphasises the lower face.

A while ago I was watching a film made in the 90s (film was not good and genuinely can't remember title). I did notice the huge variety of hair styles on the women: ponytails, side partings, pulled back hair, fringes, fluffy hair, flat hair, bobs, buns, long, short, curly, you name it. But for the past decade it's been centre parting + long for everyone, young and old alike.

voiceofastar · 10/07/2024 20:54

@Tomatina I’m not sure about partings but I really don’t like the tonged/heatless curl that’s been fashionable for years now. Natural curls/waves and curls from rollers are lovely, but half straight half tonged with straight ends like in these pics doesn’t look good to me. I had a hairdresser try to do it to my long bob once after cutting and I had to ask her to stop and redo it straight.

I’d love to see a proper 30s/40s/50s hair revival.

ETA I think ‘straightener curls’ is what they’re called.

@voiceofastar I know what you mean, I've seen good and bad versions of these sort of curls (the worst example was Michelle Mone in that embarrassing tv interview!). Completely agree about a 40s & 50s revival for more interesting hair.

Aproductofmyera80s · 10/07/2024 22:44

Sliders with socks, crocs with socks, long socks with shorts is another one for me. And wannabe roadmen wearing jackets when it’s 23 degrees outside…

What constitutes a "non-boring" hairstyle? Isn't it subjective?

Wearing gym wear to the grocery shop, bank, post office- infact, anywhere that isn't the gym!

I'm frequently in gym wear when not at the gym or classes. On my way to and from, for example. 🤷‍♀️

antoinetta · 11/07/2024 14:23

Fake eyelashes should only be worn on stage. Up close they don't look good.

I don't mind lip filler, even if it sometimes doesn't look entirely natural on the person. It can look nice. I don't like where it's been badly or overfilled (and skin is stretched too much), presents problems in the future.

I don't see those scrunch-bum gym leggings at the gym so I'm hoping they've had their day.

Tattoo sleeves on arms and legs. I see it everywhere now. Not that I dislike tattoos in general.

Crayon-coloured hair. I know that's miserable of me, but it seems to be a massive trend among all ages.

Hair dyed fake black. So harsh looking.

Fake, or brushed up eyebrows.

Your nan wore one in the 90s?

That's why skirts and dresses cling to thighs and crotch in such an ugly way!

antoinetta · 11/07/2024 15:53

Recent ish thread showed a few of us wear slips (M and S were particularly favoured) in winter, but only really for layering and warmth purposes.

Apparently soaking or rinsing slips and tights in fabric conditioner helps stop the static electricity.

Plus of course, the skirt hangs so much better over a petticoat

TBH- I would have no clue what is actually IN fashion? Things I can't stand though:

  1. Off the shoulder/strapless tops where the person clearly needs more support (I say this as someone with large boobs and who has needed a bra since my teens!)
  2. Trout pout paired with massive drag eyelashes
  3. Skinny jeans, infact, skinny anything
  4. Open toed shoes with manky and/or hairy toes
  5. Fluffy slides which look like slippers
  6. Wearing gym wear to the grocery shop, bank, post office- infact, anywhere that isn't the gym!

Terrifying eyebrows that look like two savage triangles - Saveloy lips
Those images are surely AI ?!😳

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/07/2024 22:26

I saw 2 women yesterday wearing really voluminous flared trousers . Not flared from the knee but from the hips . Cotton/linen not denim.

It is probably high fashion but a Hell No from me .

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 14/07/2024 08:40

I wear my gym kit to places other than the gym because I'm either on my way to the gym or back from the gym and you know it means I don't have to go out twice.

I also part my hair in the middle because that's where it naturally parts and I wear skinny jeans.

This thread has turned from what trends do you dislike to a bashing of other women thread.

Who cares if someone has a middle parting, or wears gym kit to the post office. Who cares if someone has lip filler.

You're not bashing the trend you're bashing the person.

Rowena191 · 14/07/2024 10:28

I agree with most of the bugbears mentioned here, but I have to make an exception for dresses with trainers. So nice to have comfortable feet while out and about. And I think it looks ok.

GoldFrame · 14/07/2024 10:43

The worst things are the skintight shorts/leggings that scream “look at my fanny!!”
