TBH- I would have no clue what is actually IN fashion? Things I can't stand though:

  1. Off the shoulder/strapless tops where the person clearly needs more support (I say this as someone with large boobs and who has needed a bra since my teens!)
  2. Trout pout paired with massive drag eyelashes
  3. Skinny jeans, infact, skinny anything
  4. Open toed shoes with manky and/or hairy toes
  5. Fluffy slides which look like slippers
  6. Wearing gym wear to the grocery shop, bank, post office- infact, anywhere that isn't the gym!

Why are you paying that much attention to other people’s toes? Talk about creepy..

Iv not long had this conversation with someone

we both said the socks and sliders thing because we are of an age where it really always has been a big no no and we said it was only old men in “Jesus” sandals with socks in our day. Noone else would have been seen dead in public like that.

but

we also noted that we felt that it would be so comfortable and cool without the sweaty feet in sandals syndrome but despite that neither of us could actually bring ourselves to actually wear that look outside in public!

we decided that while we didn’t judge we just couldn’t emotionally cop doing it ourselves without completely judging ourselves!

Honestly, adding nice comfy socks to sandal is a delightful experience. I have a thick skin for comments though.

What I love seeing is the new young goths, very few and far between but the outfits and make up are perfect.
One older goth still dressing the same but happy to see it continuing in new generations. Makes a lovely difference from the balaclavas in tracksuits most prevalent around here.

What a strangely rude comment

Nothing creepy about noticing revolting feet.

I personally don’t go around looking at other people’s toes, in my opinion it is a very strange habit to occupy yourself with. Each to their own!

On a side note: body hair on toes isn’t revolting - it’s natural.

DiscoBeat · 09/07/2024 07:23

Shuffling along outside in those fluffy mules. Not cool to be wearing my mum's slippers from 1975.

Oh don't be so sanctimonious, it's hard not to notice things like revolting hairy feet tbh

It hard NOT to notice my MIL, with open toed shoes and manky toes. 1 toe curls over another and she lets her dogs lick between her toes and doesn't stop them. I wasn't going to add that to my original post, and thought its not relevant to the question of fashion!

No, I don't have a creepy obsession with feet- what a bizzare comment! You too would find it hard not to notice!

Deathraystare · 09/07/2024 13:58

We get a few female solicitors coming in to see clients. One has a trout pout with the inevitable dark brown liner around it. It is hard not to stare! The other one puts on these weird plasticy looking false eyelashes. Again it is hard not to stare!

Ive noticed this. I think they're les drastic these days with the make up and more natural /pretty too.

Luluco · 09/07/2024 17:54

Those horrible flesh coloured leggings/cycling shorts.

OlympicDimples · 09/07/2024 18:51

I’ve noticed the “tracksuit with hood up, and baseball cap balanced on top” look on some of our ‘finest young men’ lately, even during the last warm spell we had!! What’s that all about?? Looks really daft!! Why are they ‘in disguise?’

God, yes! nobody needs that shockhorror moment of wondering if someone is standing there with literally no pants on!

The one I dont understand is a thick puffy coat (usually with giant hood up) and shorts. I get dressing for the weather but whats with dressing for every weather!?

Yupthatsit · 09/07/2024 19:28

Adult women with ribbons in their hair.

Too much Botox so that the outer end of eyebrows go upwards, resulting in a mr spock face.

Violetparis · 09/07/2024 19:56

Big coloured plastic glasses, worn by middle aged, middle class people who want to be seen as different but look like Timmy Mallet.

I've seen it a few times recently and I just want to laugh 😂

Birkenstocks. Ugliest shoes ever.

Yep up there with Crocs...
Nude leggings&/or top
sliders & socks
flares, I've never got on with them, too short & dumpy

Ahlovetoloveyoubaby · 09/07/2024 20:41

GingerPirate · 07/07/2024 13:59

Exactly this.🙂

I think those girls don’t look like porn stars but blow up sex dolls. In Spain recently no sign of crazy trends for eyebrows, highlighted face make up, eyelashes or the terrible mouth trends. It seems now that even without fake lips grown women are over lining their lips too.

i was watching Love Island, husband in room, when Nicole came back from Casa, when my husband caught sight of her face I swear he screamed- well screamed a string of swear words.😮

Scorchio84 · 09/07/2024 20:42

NOTthisOldchestnut · 08/07/2024 12:56

I've just bought this dress. It has a really fine floral print, and is midi? Does this offend people? I'm very slim, a size UK 8-10. Will I look awful and frumpy? It is to go with flat sandles.
You're all making me paranoid, as there are so many ppl going on about floral!!

Edited

That's gorgeous, I love the colour & I'm not a "dress" person

I hate that too & it's funny cos my doctor has asked me in the past if I'd like that "look" so people actually CHOOSE to have it that way.. mind boggling

Thetroutofnocraic1 · 07/07/2024 18:11

Don’t agree with this comment. There is nothing wrong with having a discussion about fashion trends. You A few people have mentioned skinny jeans (which I often wear). Not offended by it. people are entitled to their opinion

Exactly this, no one is being malicious to any particular person, it's about trends
Also I LIVE in skinny jeans, mostly ripped, I even wore them when I was pregnant, maternity fashion has come a long way & I take no offence at anyone saying they're over or boring

ichundich · 09/07/2024 20:52

Trainers with smart clothes, sliders with anything other than a dressing gown at the spa or pool, tracksuits anywhere other than on the sofa / at the gym, women in dungarees, beige everything, polyester everything.

I've seen them too! I want to run up too them and tell them I wasjust like them once, but a with a bit more pvc. They'd be horrified by what they'll turn into.
