I don’t think it’ll be a landslide of the Blair era.

I do think labour will take it

I am a working class former extreme leftie and could not vote labour. I am certainly not a Tory by nature but do not trust the extreme left influence. I don’t trust labour to protect women, my local labour candidate has a track record and association with reforming GRC. He would not get my vote in a million years.

My DH is also working class but does not believe labours economic policies can work. He has voted reform because their economic policies.

it is wrong to assume that just because someone is not voting labour they are a xenophobe / uneducated/ racist or otherwise.
the same way it is important for me to remember that just because someone is voting labour it doesn’t mean they have been drinking the kool aid over gender identity and / or antisemitic

I think labour will take it, I hope they do us right; and I hope if they start to go SNP on us, the people will say no

I'm waiting to pick up my daughter outside a polling station in her school. Surprising amount of people still going in to vote. I don't know what that means although I feel like we're in a Labour area (different borough to me).

Which one?

@CurlewKate Pina Colada. Solid. Reliable. Gets the job done. No bull. 😉

Sadik · 04/07/2024 21:17

Seriously twitchy here - not that I'm enthusiastic about labour (plaid voter), but please god, not the Tories again 🙏🏼

mynameiscalypso · 04/07/2024 21:23

Very nervous here too. I was a couple of years too young for 1997 (although stayed up to watch it) and it feels like it's been a long time coming to have a GE that's this important. I also seem to have got into some weird Twitter bubble where my feed is filled with Reform voters so I find it hard to believe anything else (even though I know that it's the fault of the Twitter algorithm!)

Sadik · 04/07/2024 21:24

First time I could vote was 1992, so not a good start.

Teddybearpicniccelebration · 04/07/2024 21:29

@Hotgirlwinter Kier Starners wife is Jewish and they bring up their sons in the Jewish faith.

BurntBroccoli · 04/07/2024 21:31

Watching the latest Sewing Bee to calm my nerves. Nice glass of chilled Pinot rose and a few gifted Dairy Box choccies.

Bleurfghjj · 04/07/2024 21:33

Not counting any chickens before they’ve hatched!

I was feeling like a child on Christmas eve earlier, the excitement! Now I’m starting to worry.

After the last few elections I felt so flat and fed up the next day and like I wasn’t living amongst people I shared common goals with. Tomorrow I hope I wake up and feel differently.

Edited

I felt exactly the same, it’s an awful feeling.

I really do feel a bit sick and restless.

MargotMoon · 04/07/2024 21:37

I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. I'm a bag of nerves now. Been campaigning in a marginal seat all day and so many people undecided (on polling day!) or going to Reform.

I'm bricking it. Can't have another 1992.

mindutopia · 04/07/2024 21:38

Nope, I’m absolutely tickled.

BobnLen · 04/07/2024 21:39

CurlewKate · 04/07/2024 20:13

There's a massive turnout. Which could be bad news.

How do you know this, has it been reported

kirinm · 04/07/2024 21:41

Yes. Have assumed we'd sail through but starting to worry that all the reformers will switch back to the conservatives at the last minute.

Hummingbird75 · 04/07/2024 21:42

I think it is definitely a hung parliament at best, and I am not meaning to torture anyone, I know it means a lot to some of you. But I think you need to brace yourselves.

Takoneko · 04/07/2024 21:43

BobnLen · 04/07/2024 21:39

How do you know this, has it been reported

Quite a few reports saying that turnout looks high. CCHQ apparently emailed supporters saying turnout is higher than expected and that they might do better than the polls have predicted as a result.

JurassicClark · 04/07/2024 21:43

I think most of us who lived through the '92 election are emotionally scarred and can't relax.

We have wine in the house, but nothing is getting opened until the exit polls are in.

Hummingbird75 · 04/07/2024 21:44

Massive turn out apparently - I know this because I was the last to vote more or less in my area and almost all of the names in my whole area had a cross through them. I can't remember a time that I have seen so many crossed out. So yes, I think many have turned out this time. Why? We won't know yet.

16 minutes to go.

Frostynight · 04/07/2024 21:44

I remember 1992. Never taken anything for granted since.

MammaTo · 04/07/2024 21:47

Nerves are gone to be honest. I keep remembering that feeling after the exit pole last time.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 04/07/2024 21:48

Teddybearpicniccelebration · 04/07/2024 21:29

@Hotgirlwinter Kier Starners wife is Jewish and they bring up their sons in the Jewish faith.

They have a son and a daughter.

NettleTea · 04/07/2024 21:49

i feel awful. really sick. I was blindsided by Johnson and Brexit. I know I live in a bubble. We really need rid. My only hope is that the young people have come out and dont vote green

AthenaBasil · 04/07/2024 21:50

I don’t see how it couldn’t be Labour. Often when the polls are wrong it’s out by a slight margin. Here it’s supposed to be a great majority. So even if slightly out it’ll still be Labour majority. For those thinking it won’t be you should place a bet as you’ll get really good odds.

Thatusernamewastaken · 04/07/2024 21:50

Think it will be a huge landslide. Tories around 130 seats

DontBiteTheCat · 04/07/2024 21:51

Less than ten minutes until the exit polls!
