I was going to have a cocktail. But I don't feel frivolous enough. Red wine it is.

Have a cocktail! And then, in that terrible dystopia where both the bookies and polls are wrong and Farage is our new PM, at least you have that last memory of joy!

Lara333 · 04/07/2024 20:56

A little nervous.

I too remember the utter shock and horror of the Brexit result. What ‘we’ had voted for, turkeys and Christmas.

I will be pleased to get to tomorrow.

MotherofPearl · 04/07/2024 20:57

I'm also nervous. I'll never forget that shocking feeling after the 2016 referendum when Leave won. My complacent Remainer assumptions were shaken to the core. Since then I've never felt I can trust the result of an election until it's finally called.

Scautish · 04/07/2024 20:59

Yes. But I had to vote LD as only options vs Tories.

I have my spreadsheet ready and really hope it’s a night like 1997.

but worried about the nasty racist vote.

CurlewKate · 04/07/2024 21:01

Which one?

I remember walking to the polling station for Brexit and Betfair exchange was showing 10-1 Blush

elm26 · 04/07/2024 21:03

Really nervous!

Percivaleverett · 04/07/2024 21:04

I vote strawberry daiquiri!

MotherofPearl · 04/07/2024 21:05

CurlewKate · 04/07/2024 21:01

Which one?

Pina Colada feels appropriately celebratory.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/07/2024 21:05

I’m pacing. Fidgeting. Can’t sit still.

Im going to the pub at 10 to meet my dp who has been a polling clerk today. I will have the radio in my ears to hear the exit poll.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/07/2024 21:06

I’ve bought a bottle of fizz (pink!) but I won’t put it in the fridge till I hear those exit polls.

Percivaleverett · 04/07/2024 21:06

I was feeling it was going to be ok but I’d forgotten about how wrong the opinion polls were about Brexit- gah! And of course the same with Trump though obviously that wasn’t here.

HungryLittleCrocodile · 04/07/2024 21:06

I think Labour will get the most seats, but I am not sure if they will get enough to form a Government.

Who will they pick to go into a coalition with though? Wink (If they don't get the required amount of seats?!)

BitOutOfPractice · 04/07/2024 21:07

DryIce · 04/07/2024 20:04

I mean the last big election news we got was waking up after the Brexit vote and seeing the exit polls for Boris - we're traumatised!

I’m old enough to remember 1992. I cried all night. 😬

BurntBroccoli · 04/07/2024 21:07

Jellykat · 04/07/2024 20:12

Yes definitely.. im worried lots of people wont bother going to vote, as theres been so much publicity re. Labour being a dead cert.

There's been a load of stuff on TikTok re voting apparently (according to my daughter).

I think this generation are the most political and clued up of any so far due to social media.

They hated that Brexit vote. And the majority hate the Tories.

Takoneko · 04/07/2024 21:07

Feeling quite nervous now. My logical brain knows that the polls need to be catastrophically wrong for Labour not to win a decent majority, but it feels like there’s a lot of unusual things at play in terms of third parties and tactical voting that could make polling models based on previous elections less accurate. Fingers crossed. 🤞🤞

SwedishEdith · 04/07/2024 21:08

Always nervous at this point but the biggest shock in recent years was 2017. Brexit was awful but I wasn't surprised by the result just so upset what I feared/suspected was confirmed. I'll start pacing around in about 30 minutes.

Always more nervous after reading MN 😬

Hopefully tactical voting will have an impact.

Fightthepower · 04/07/2024 21:10

I was feeling like a child on Christmas eve earlier, the excitement! Now I’m starting to worry.

After the last few elections I felt so flat and fed up the next day and like I wasn’t living amongst people I shared common goals with. Tomorrow I hope I wake up and feel differently.

Darkflame · 04/07/2024 21:12

Feeling nervous too. I just hope we get the change that's so desperately needed. I feel sick to the stomach at the thought of it going wrong and somehow that twunt Farage getting in. I'd seriously think about leaving this country. I'll be watching the news very closely.

OliveTheaBough · 04/07/2024 21:12

nervous

hoping for glory, worried about what ifs.

Seaitoverthere · 04/07/2024 21:14

I am worried. DH doesn’t seem to be and usually would be the one out of us to worry. We’re in a Tory seat that may go Labour for the first time ever and I am really invested in the Labour guy winning.

SleepingStandingUp · 04/07/2024 21:14

Yes, although at least we voted this time. We weren't able to vote in Brexit and whilst I know two votes wouldn't have changed it, it still kicks

.... nervous?

nervously awaiting to know how many people in my constituency vote reform despite their campaign being bollocks built on BS
