Purely because I am really strange and find things like what time of day people voted interesting.

Me and my 18yo just voted, in the hut where she used to go to Rainbows.
Wondering where the years have gone?

I'm waiting until the teenagers wake up so they can come too (plus dogs, obvs!)

So could be mid afternoon.

I am also intrigued as to who votes so early and why.

Our polling station has 100 adults on the list, so queuing isn't an issue!

People who do it on the way to work I would think! I've been there at 7.30 in the past

I haven’t voted yet, but I do have a question if anyone knows the answer, please?
My polling card is in my married name but my IDs are in my maiden name, can I still vote?

Probably not? Unless you take your marriage certificate with you maybe

@Getonwitit Is it July where you are or November?!

S.W Scotland, bloody awful here this morning. Sun is now shining but the wind would split you in two.

SighingMum23 · 04/07/2024 17:03

I've not voted.

An unfortunate case of gastroenteritis. 😭😭😭

I was almost out with my pram and then I felt the urge to vomit.

Lovelynames123 · 04/07/2024 17:04

Just voted, a couple of people already in, and a few waiting as I came out

Gilead · 04/07/2024 17:08

Another postal vote here.

Yes it will be fine.

Take along your ID plus another form of proof of your last name pre marriage eg council tax bill or bank statement.

The lady who served me this morning looked at my passport and said oh I see you name is different so I explained I use my married name for all things except professional reasons and she wasn't worried in the slightest because the photo looked very much like me. I had taken my bank statement but I didn't really need it.

HailtotheBop · 04/07/2024 17:28

Postal vote here so it was done a while ago. Young adult sons voted for the first time today, though.

I had the same thing. You need to take your marriage certificate. They checked mine then I was able to vote.

Voted at 10.00am this morning. I always get a rush of excitement. I turned 18 in 1975 and they lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 in 1969 so it was still relatively new. I felt very grown up and priviledged to be able to vote then and I still do now.

I love voting too. I have good memories of voting when with dh and the weather or heat or whatever

I also feel lucky to be in a democracy without pressures

Droolylabradors · 04/07/2024 17:53

Voted. In at 16:30, no one else there, 100 people on the list. Two members of staff bored to tears!

PerkingFaintly · 04/07/2024 18:00

Just to remind everyone (even if it's been mentioned), that you can drop your postal vote in at the polling station today, or have someone else take it for you.

ClassicStripe · 04/07/2024 18:44

Voted at half four. In a church hall and with lovely weather. Took my kids inspired by another poster on here.

Voted at lunchtime. Always seems a delightfully old fashioned process

darean · 04/07/2024 18:53

Voted by post a couple of weeks ago. I'm not away from home but I like the flexibility of sorting my vote when it suits me so I've had a postal vote for over 10 years.
I popped into the library today which was in a building used as a polling station, I was surprised that it was a tiny room (when I used to vote in person in other wards it was a fairly large community hall). Very short queue but that was probably only because the room was so small.

MargaretThursday · 04/07/2024 18:57

Voted on the way home from work. Absolutely packed and had to wait to get in.

July where I am but very much like November!!!

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/07/2024 19:02

Took the kids and the dog to vote, had a good chat with DS11 about why we vote and how important it is even if you’re not sure who to vote for. I remember being dragged along by my parents and conversations about having your voice heard through the ballot box.

Cangar · 04/07/2024 19:51

I can see a polling station from my living room window. There’s a big queue there now!

internationaldebates · 04/07/2024 19:55

around 4pm. I had to queue!

BlowDryRat · 04/07/2024 20:01

DH voted at 6-ish. He took 11yo DD and let her choose who he voted for (Greens)!

They were the only ones at the polling station.

CelieandNettie · 04/07/2024 20:04

Went at about 5pm - steady stream of people in and out. Couple of people at work said their polling stations had big queues which they'd never seen before

Rusty101 · 04/07/2024 20:11

I also voted on the school run, it was fairly busy. I’m in a town location and people that were walking to work/on the school run made up the steady stream of voters at about 8:20. I’m having an early night and going to bed at 9 so I can get up at 2ish to watch the results being declared.
