Purely because I am really strange and find things like what time of day people voted interesting.

Sounds like Labour might take that.

What makes you think that?

Definitely an older demographic at the time I was there so who knows🤷‍♀️ - I think it will be close, Reform could split the vote.

In my area, true blue, with a top heavy older demograph, there's been a lot of not Tory this time on the doorstep. We have a Reform Candidate, though his name is last on the list and the Conservative candidate is first.

CalmConfident · 04/07/2024 13:17

Voted at 7:05…but noticed my next door neighbours had beaten me to it!

CalmConfident · 04/07/2024 13:19

I also handed in my husbands postal vote (he’s out the country this week). There was a queue of about 6 people behind me and 4 in front. Hoping for a good turnout!

VolvoFan · 04/07/2024 13:20

Unless there is a genuine reason that I cannot physically go to the polling station and vote in person, then I'll vote by post and pray that Royal Mail does their job. I'm going to vote in person a bit later. One of the reasons I prefer voting in person is polling station dogs. They're so cute!

APurpleSquirrel · 04/07/2024 13:22

DD had a guitar concert at school this morning, so DH & I went to vote straight after around 9.40am.

KitKatChunki · 04/07/2024 13:25

I've been about half an hour ago. Am actually annoyed as the candidate I wanted to vote for wasn't on my ballot, despite him being the candidate for my area. I've had to email the party to let them know he wasn't even on there and I had to vote for the party via the candidate in the next town! Something not right there.

Maddy70 · 04/07/2024 13:28

Mine was a postal proxy vote. Labour

Are you sure he’s standing?

BuyOrBake · 04/07/2024 13:33

I voted on the way back from the school run. It was quiet then.

I googled when I got back and the party's page said he still is.
I've emailed their local office to say my road and polling station and that he wasn't on my ballot, not sure what else I can do?
I voted for the same party but the only option for the party on my form was for the woman in the next town!

Edited

It won’t be a mistake, he won’t be standing. Maybe a late pull out.

I was 3rd in at 7am. I wanted to swim before work.

Is this due to boundary changes?

If there was a candidate from your chosen party on the ballot you must be mistaken.

I voted about an hour ago.
Absolutely horrible weather here - strong winds and very heavy prolonged showers.
I asked the polling clerks if they'd been busy. Apparently it was very quiet earlier on but picking up a bit around the time I went in. They reckoned the weather was affecting things this morning.
Being in Scotland it was the first time having to show ID. So I made a point of saying I'd voted in every election since 1970 so it seemed ridiculous I was now having to prove who I am. To which they said it was the Westminster government's idea. My son, when he voted in a different Scottish city, also told the polling clerk how ridiculous having to produce ID was. And the polling clerk agreed with him.

Any way duty done and will await the results with great interest.

HighHeelsOnCobblestones · 04/07/2024 13:50

I’m shocked. Even my mum has voted! She has never, ever voted before.

LlamaDuke · 04/07/2024 14:28

Did mine at 1.45 - apart from the polling officials, I was the only one in the place.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 04/07/2024 14:43

Just got back from voting, took my 4 month old and we had lots of "he's not quite old enough to vote"😂

They have checked with the polling station and apparently other ballot papers for the area are fine but nothing can be done now as I didn't flag it at the time. I know mine must have been an anomaly but I don't understand how I got half of one area and half of another area on my paper...Lesson learned that no matter how busy if there's a problem to say something at the time. Like you I wondered if I simply had the wrong guy for boundary issues or if he had stepped down, but no. They are aware anyway and if it comes to counting votes and is close it might be looked at again but unlikely I guess.

Are you absolutely certain that you’re not affected by boundary changes and that the person you voted for really isn’t your candidate?

Harrumphhhh · 04/07/2024 16:35

sorry. Just reread your comment and can now see you’ve checked boundaries. What a mystery!

Yes - I had never heard of her and knew my candidate was a man. It said under each candidates name which area and the only candidate for the party was for the next town along and a woman. I've told them anyway, not much they can do it seems.

EasternStandard · 04/07/2024 16:50

I voted earlier. More officials than voters

OctoblocksAssemble · 04/07/2024 16:55

I voted at around 12.30, went with my husband (wfh), and to my absolute horror one of the guys asked if I was DH's mother. Still burning about it hours later 😡.

maw1681 · 04/07/2024 16:58

Went at lunchtime (WFH), it was nice and quiet
